We enjoyed relaxing in the house after days of sightseeing, aquarium exploring, Maid of the Mist ride, and drenching at Cave of the Winds.
Thank you for allowing us to stay!
This is a jewel of a renovated house kept in character. As my 92-year old mom said, "They have thought of everything." Check-in was flawless, the house was spotless, the kitchen was beyond expectation for equipment needs, the bedrooms were comfortable and quiet, and the bathrooms were large, clean, and well-equipped.
Loved the Mid-Century modern vibes! Very clean, had everything we needed! Walking distance to everything was great. Did not like the neighborhood - mostly run down and commotion/noise in the streets at night that did not make us feels comfortable.

Glad you liked the house and the proximity to everything. We try to be clear in our listing that Niagara Falls is a poor rust belt city (population half of what it once was - and therefore half the tax revenue). People should not expect a resort. The city is socio and economically diverse. The downtown area has seen better days but is slowly on the rebound. Many houses in the neighborhood, like ours, have been rehabbed but there are others that haven't. You were here on a holiday weekend so I am sure people were having parties. That we can't control.
Great location to both sides. Only concern was the neighbor to the right, very sketchy, believe drugs or something when trying to sleep, etc. maybe put tv in the third bedroom to eliminate noise? Just a thought. Mouse in kitchen, but we had a blast. Thanks!

Glad you had a great time. I wish we could control who lives next to us. It is variable - sometimes the neighbors are fine and sometimes . . . not. There are window A/C units on that side that should block any noise. The mouse has been caught and is no longer with us; but with an old house (130 yrs) we occasionally will find signs in the kitchen that one has come in to look for goodies. We appreciate the heads up from guests so we can take quick action.
Brautiful home, lots of charm and character. Convenient to everything. Lots of room to spread out and relax. Fun trip. Don't let the area worry you. We felt totally safe and nobody gave us any slight thought of being scared or afaid. Had great tours. Fortunas for dinner is a must do!
A great hub for our girls trip to enjoy the Falls and wineries. Owners were quick to respond when we blew a breaker. That’s what happens when you have six ladies getting ready at the same time! Previous reviews mentioned the neighborhood was sketchy, but we felt safe. highly recommend.
We enjoyed our stay at The Mint. Was a short two minute drive to the Falls and Rainbow Bridge. The house was exactly as listed, and the pictures didn't do it justice. So much room for everyone to spread out and had was furnished with beautiful but comfortable furniture. The owner was very communicative and made sure we had everything we needed. If we are ever up near the Falls again, we would definitely stay at The Mint!
We enjoyed our stay. The house was huge, and it was nice to have space to spread out after traveling in a cramped car. Neighborhood was just as described in listing but didn’t feel unsafe. It was so great to get to all the Niagara sites by just walking a few blocks. It was a little sad to see all the abandoned places in town due to the decline in population, so I am glad we could support revitalization of the area. It was a bonus to have a washer/dryer there too.

Very nice home
Loved the old fashioned feel of the home. Very clean. Very nice property owners. The only concern we had was the location. We didn't have any problems at all at the house, but we aren't used to living in a diverse city community.
My family loved the house. Lots of wood beams and floors. Diverse furniture that warmed our hearts. Great layout of the bedrooms and bathrooms. Carroll replied promptly when the probate tank was empty and a full tank was installed within a short period of time. Easy access to the aquarium and trolleys; and walking distance to Canada.
The only downfall was the abandoned and run down houses in the area. No issues with anyone in the area.

We're happy you enjoyed our house and its close proximity to all the sights of Niagara Falls. We are very clear in our listing about the condition of the downtown area and the city. Like many rust belt cities, it lost half its population over the last several decades leaving empty and abandoned homes. We have bought and revitalized 6 of them. Others are doing the same but it will take time. As you stated, you had no issues with anyone in the area. It would be nice not to be dinged for things we can not control.

good spot near the Falls
We were a family of ten, six adults and 4 children. the bunk beds were a hit with the kids for sure. there is an awkward bath that a hallway goes through, but it worked out ok. The neighborhood is hit and miss in a slow to gentrify area. We never felt insecure or afraid. second time staying in this area of the falls for us, so we were aware of our surroundings. Alley parking was convenient.
additional towels could be made available when there is a week stay and there is no W/D and more illumination in Living room would be appreciated.
Overall a pleasant stay.
Owners were easy to communicate with.

We are happy you enjoyed your stay. For clarification for future guests, one of the two full baths upstairs connects the front part of the house with the back park of the house. There are also front and back stairways, so access to either side is not impeded when the bathroom is in use. Also, there is usually another lamp in the living room area, but during the holiday season we had the Christmas tree there.
Spacious downstairs rooms for enjoying family time. Great layout for flexibility in sleeping needs of group. Good kitchen for meal preps. Clean, welcoming and a delight yo spend time in. Perfect for families.
We really had the privilege of staying in this historical house. It is fascinating and stimulating for those who appreciate history and architecture. It took use a while to comprehend and navigate through the two stories house. Very clean and plenty of space and furniture. Carroll was very welcoming and cooperative, answered all our questions and inquired about the house and the neighborhood. If We come back again to the area, we will not hesitate to select this house for our stay if it is available. Our best regards and wishes.

About the host
Hosted by Carroll Reetz
Carroll spent most of her career in Human Resources but gave it all up to open a hostel in Niagara Falls- leaving the wonderful California weather behind but gaining a wonderful husband. Andre is from Germany and we found each other here! We have since expanded from the hostel and added a few vacation rentals to our endeavors. We think they are a great alternative to a sterile hotel - more like home away from home.
Why they chose this property
Over the last several years, we have purchased several homes and brought them back to life. When Andre saw this one on the market, we thought long and hard about it since it needed a lot of work. But could not let it go. It is a beautiful old home in a fabulous location near the Falls. This is an area undergoing revitalization and we are thrilled to be a part of it.
We are fully permitted and certified by the City of Niagara Falls that we meet all building and fire codes required to operate a vacation rental. Many listings in Niagara Falls are not legal, so be careful. Keep your family safe and be sure to book with those operators that can show you their permit and certificate of occupancy.
What makes this property unique
The house is LARGE. It is our only house that will accommodate 8-12 people. There are 2 full and 1 half bath and two staircases (front and back). It is ideal for large families or reunions with family/friends. It is also a great place for preparing for a wedding at the Falls. Plenty of space for all.
