it's a great house well-stocked with games (also movies and music, though we didn't use those). There are lots of rooms so people can do different activities, and the backyard fire pit was wonderful. A very short walk to the Caroga Music festival, which was our reason for the visit.

Thank you Amy for your kind review. So glad you enjoyed the house, the neighborhood and the music festival. Come back anytime.
This was our 3rd time renting from Kelly. We love Caroga and her house! She's always avaliable for any questions. The house is well stocked, the beds are comfortable and the yard is relaxing. Her pictures are very accurate. Its a 2 minute walk to the beach. We played golf at Stoners, rented a boat from the Marina, enjoyed a band at Vroomans. Next time we'll stay longer than a weekend. Thank you for being a great host Kelly!
This is our 4th year staying at Camp Caroga. It is the perfect place to stay for our annual golf outing. It is only about 5 minutes from Nick Stoner golf course. We had beautiful weather and the leaves were starting to change. Kelly, as usual, was a perfect host. I am looking forward to next year already.
I booked this place in for a long weekend for my wedding that I was having at Sherman's. The place in so cozy, roomy and pictures don't do it justice. Kelly has great communication through the process. The place is only a couple minutes away from Sherman's. I highly recommend this place.

Cozy and Rustic, this lovely home provides a relaxing getaway!
My friend and I had such an amazing time in this place; It was the perfect getaway for a couple of overworked City gals and I only wish we had booked it for longer! The Caroga Lake community is super chill and friendly. I truly felt at home there. Our days were full of epic hiking adventures in the Adirondacks, swimming and canoeing in the stunning Caroga Lake, and nights of cooking and grilling outside and then getting the best sleep I've had in a long time!
My only issue was that the use of Kelly's canoe wasn't clear in the listing. One of the reasons I chose to stay at this place was that a canoe was listed in the amenities, but the overview didn't give a heads up that it costs extra to rent. I would've preferred to know this off the bat, instead of a week before the trip so my friend and I were prepared to spend extra. We were unsure of how to go about exchanging money and signing a waiver, and it created some confusion on the first night we stayed there.
Other than that, it truly was an incredible stay and we are hoping to be back to enjoy this amazing place. Thank you so much, Kelly!!

Thanks Tori for all your kind comments about the house, lake, and community. I'm sorry about your confusion concerning the canoe, which was not listed as an amenity, as I had just purchased it. You may have confused what my house offered (short walk to sandy beach, room for 10, fire pit, games, music, movies) with other camps in the area. I assure you my ad was not misleading and had no mention of a boat.
I'm glad you had a much needed rest from your city life and throughly enjoyed yourself. I hope you'll return again in the future.
Thanks for choosing my lake house, Kelly
Warning. Owner charged extra for "lawn damage" that was there when we arrived,
Disappointed that owner stated we burned her lawn when it was dried out , worn down, not we'll maintained with wide path throughout the backyard when we arrived,. 8 adults in our family confirmed it was like that when we arrived but she refused to believe it and charged us for damage to what she called her "lawn". I have never encountered anything like this in all year's of renting so be very careful.
Pretty house but can only see Lakeview from second floor.
We rented because here because it has 11 beds and it was roomy and comfortable. But we like to cook and there is only a smaller charcoal grill . No oven inside the house, only a stovetop and microwave.
Didn't know dining table was referred to as the ping pong table. Also at checkout there is an extra charge for insurance.
Unfortunately first time in all my renting that I've had any difficulty with an owner.

This family did in fact damage the lawn after their week long stay by leaving inflatables carelessly left on the lawn for an extended period, as per reported by my next door neighbor. It looked shockingly terrible. I was at the house the day before their arrival to ensure everything thing was in order and the day of their departure and there was no damage to the lawn prior to their arrival (photos document the condition of the lawn). As a gesture of good will I only charged have of the expense. While they left the house in adequate condition, the lawn had to be replanted in an extensive oddly patterned area. I have never before made an insurance claim when things get damaged or broken. It is one thing to throw away a lamp or dish, but the lawn was an absolute mess and effected the experience for the other guests for the remainder of the season. The damaged lawn required removal, reseeding, and daily watering. It has yet to return to the condition that it was given to them. To other host: beware of this family who will lack care of your home.
Kelly’s rental was a wonderful getaway. There was lots to do, hiking, mountain biking, if you like yard sales Caroga Lake is for you. The rental was clean and had the cabin feel and smell. I will go back.
If it were not for heavy rain, and cool weather the stay would have been great, there were a lot of activities the weekend we were there but just bad luck with the weather, we were unable to use the fireplace because of the flood in the back yard from all the rain, which was disappointing. The camp was very well stocked and large enough for many guests. We did have a great hike and dinner nearby! The host was very gracious and responsive.
Kelly was a great hostess kept in contact had plenty of games and comfort an made sure u had different essentials that could easily be forgotten loved her home an enjoyed by all Caroga a Great Lake I thank Kelly for letting us enjoy her home
We were in town for a golf tournament so did not get a chance to take advantage of the beach and lake. The house was very clean and we are grill people so no oven did not affect us. Kelly was very attentive to all our needs. We would stay again.

Nice place
The house itself a nice space (indoor and outdoor) with plenty of beds. The televisions were small (which only affected us because of the rain). There's no oven, but there is a charcoal bbq and fire pit. Kelly is a very attentive and active communicator via phone, and did not hesitate to contact me via phone call or text. We would stay here again.

Great Place
We had a great time! House has all you need, pictures are accurate. Something for everyone. We rode bikes, golfed (Nick Stoners) 5 minutes away, beach (2 minute walk), fished, canoed, kayaked, rented a party boat for the day from the Caroga Lake Marina just down the road. Enjoyed local restaurants (The Boat House and The Nineteenth Hole). Also great antiquing/thrift shopping not to far of a drive. Enjoyed the Caroga Lake music festival one night. Kelly is very accommodating and friendly.

Clean, great layout, sweet spot
Kelly's place is awesome. There was plenty of space for our two families (7 total). I loved how the downstairs was very open yet had different areas for people to hang out. Lots of bed options for sleeping upstairs. The place smelled good (not musty at all, as some camps tend to be) and was furnished with nice stuff. The beach is small and is right around the corner. Lots of great running or walking in the neighborhood and hikes just a short drive away.

one of the best family vacations yet. It was beautiful, relaxing and felt right at home.
This vacation was a first for me and my family as far as renting a property to stay at. We have always stayed in hotels so I didn't know what to expect. This house was great. Very welcoming and cozy. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We had a small storm that left everyone on the lake with out power and Kelly the home was going to drive 1hr 1/2 to make sure we were ok. The house is right next to the lake which was nice and everyone in the area was extremely nice. If you ever want to get away and want to stay in a cozy house instead of a hotel please contact Kelly you won't be disappointed.

About the host
Hosted by Kelly Irwin
I am an artist and photographer living in New York City. As a child, I spent my summers in the Adirondacks, and the winters in Florida. I enjoy traveling, entertaining, spending time with family and friends, and creating environments to relax and enjoy. I look forward to another summer spent at the beach at West Caroga Lake and of course, sharing the house with others.
Why they chose this property
I knew immediately that Caroga Lake was the place for me. With the defunct amusement park, Shermans- now the Caroga Arts Festival property boasting more that 30 concerts in the summer, the Nick Stoner Golf Course, the cafes, the hiking trails, the ski resort, Royal Mountain, and the crystal clear Adirondack lake, this cozy town in the foot hills of the Southern Adirondacks has everything a life of leisure demands. The town motto "everything burns," refers to the fire pits that appoint each home and the smell of burning wood each and every summer night. The house is large with an open floor plan on the first floor that includes the living room, kitchen, and bar area. The second floor has two bedrooms and a semi private tv/family room. The decorations are eclectic and welcoming.
