Wow, what a fabulous place! Casa de Arean is a beautiful 18th century villa updated with modern conveniences in a rural setting near the charming village of Aidone. If you want to escape the beaten track of tourists, this is the place! Pietro is a very gracious host who provided all the information we needed for a very enjoyable 2 week stay. The on-site caretaker Hagie was available when needed, and was never intrusive. We had a delightful relaxing stay and hope to return!
The property is what you would imagine for perfect countryside villa. The photos on the listing are completely accurate. It feels like a noble family’s villa, with a beautiful pool and amazing views of the Sicilian countryside and of course, Mt Etna. During our stay you could watch the lava flow from Etna at night from the balcony. Surrounded by fragrant citrus and olive trees, it is completely relaxing. The ancient city ruins of Morgantina are a short hike from the house and will fascinate any history buff. Pietro is a wonderfully attentive and responsive host and took great care of us, giving us excellent recommendations for day trips, and ensuring we had enough of everything. Highly, highly recommend casa Arena

A touch of class. The most beautiful place.
Wow! Wow! And thrice wow!
What an incredible place. The house has a charm and elegance not often seen these days. The panoramic view from the terrace must be one of the best in Sicily. Breathtaking. Best equipped kitchen I have experienced in a rental property. Pool, lovely. Relaxed and efficient help from the lovely Lorenzo and Federica. A touch of class all round.

Peaceful, spectacular views, very comfortable, excellent pool, extremely helpful property manager.
We had a great 9 day stay at Il Gelso Nero Farmhouse. Federico and Lorenzo could not have been more helpful as they showed us around the property and pointed out the best places to visit nearby. The accommodation was just what we wanted. It is comfortable, has modern facilities (which all worked well) and yet retains many old features which give it the feel of a much loved and quite grand family home. Its elevated position and large balcony area enabled us to take in the spectacular views with Mount Etna in the distance. Aidone is a fine rural town in which we enjoyed eating out, buying local food to eat in, walking through typically old and narrow Sicilian streets and being made to feel very welcome. When not simply relaxing by the pool, the nearby historic sites at Morgantina and Villa del Casale (Piazza Armerina) along with the Museum at Aidone gave us plenty to do without having to travel far. We would love to come back to this property and revisit this region of Sicily.
