About this property

Great Cottage & Location

You can't beat this location. It is lakefront at its best. It is also near anything your hearts desire. If you like to fish, swim, shop, hike, go to festivals, wineries or just hang, this is the perfect spot. This wonderful cottage is located on the southwest side of beautiful South Lake Leelanau. This is an all-sports lake with great fishing, water sports, and sightseeing. You can explore more than 20 miles of shoreline, visit North Lake Leelanau, or dock your boat in the quaint town of Leland and shop in 'Fishtown'.

The cottage is located on a small access road which is about three miles north of the town of Cedar. It is a two-story house with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The bedrooms are all upstairs, and one full bath upstairs, and one full bath downstairs. The lake area in front of the cottage is beautiful, with about a two-mile expanse across the lake.

The cottage is directly on the lake (there is no road between the cottage and the lake) and the water is about 80 feet from the cottage. Large trees at the water's edge provide cool shade on summer days. The lake bottom is sandy, with a very gradual drop off (about three-feet deep at 100 feet from shore). The shoreline is grass up to water's edge.
Enjoy wonderful sun and moon-rises from your wrap-around porch. Truly a functional and lovely get-away. Hard-pan sandy lake bottom, great for youngsters to swim and play. No thru-traffic on this private shared road. Open floor plan on main level with durable flooring, spacious entry/laundry room. Charming cottage style decor. Boating on this 20-mile lake seems endless. Spend the entire day on the lake topped off with a great dining experience in Cedar, Lake Leelanau, or Leland by-boat. So much more to experience on this, the greatest all-sports inland lake in the area. The charming village of Cedar is less than a 5 minute drive and only 20-minutes to downtown TC.

This was the perfect property for our girls weekend. Far enough from Traverse City to provide the quiet we wanted but close enough that it was a quick car ride to anything we wanted to do. We will absolutely return!

The cottage was very cute and had a real "up north" feel. The bedrooms were comfortable and we enjoyed having the fresh air from the doorwalls. There's plenty of towels in the bathrooms and extras in the kitchen. The front yard by the lake is deep and comes with comfortable seating on the patio along with a grill and fire pit. We really enjoyed our stay. Plus, our host sent my wallet to my home with next day delivery after I left it in the cottage and refused to take any money for that. First class service!

What a gem! We had a fabulous time staying at the cabin during a long Labor Day weekend. The cabin was clean, well equipped and decorated nicely. I’d say it’s even better in person than the pictures portray. The neighborhood was nice, the water was clear and warm, the dock was a nice place to watch the sunrise, the kayaks and paddle board were a nice addition. We were close to Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes which was exactly what we were hoping for. Although we had great temperatures and didn’t need it, I didn’t see an AC unit so just figured I’d make mention. It’s probably listed in the details we just didn’t notice. We will recommend this place to family and friends and we hope to return one day.

A beautiful location on the lake. I wish it wasn't so windy/cold so we could have enjoyed it and had an outdoor fire, but the timing wasn't to be - still very pretty area and dock. Sad we couldn't use the kayaks but a nice touch to have them there. Plenty of room for sleeping 5 people. However, note that the trundle bed in main bedroom squeaks REALLY loud so if you are planning to put people there to sleep, they would be better off on the floor with a mattress. Heating is a bit of a struggle on 2nd floor as the heating vents in the rooms don't work, only the hallway portable heater works. This means either sleeping with doors open or lots of extra blankets. The downstairs has great space for gathering and plenty of table space for family dining. The game table and all the games are a bonus since our nights were so cool. The upstairs bathroom shower will clog after 1 person showers - drain needs a good cleaning and the laundry room musty smell is really bad - especially if you forget to close the door when you leave, like we did. The whole bottom of the house smelled musty. The air purifier in the room doesn't do the trick. Overall a great place, just needs some more TLC.

Thank you for staying at our place. Sorry the weather wasn't better for you, which does make staying at a lake house tricky. The heaters do work. Sorry we would of helped you with them, if we had known you were having problems. The cleaner after your stay did notice there was a slow drain in tub but cleaned out drain and it is fine now. Im sorry about musty smell, we have not had anyone complain before about that, but we will look into it. It is a true cottage so not modern for everyone’s needs. Thank you again for staying.

Amazing spot on gorgeous Lake Leelanau. We spent lots of outdoor time in the water, and on the dock, yard and porch. Perfect location close to several beach towns, golf courses, hikes and water activities. The host was super responsive and accommodating and even drove out to get items we left after check out and shipped them to us.

Fantastic lakeside cottage!

A lovely place to relax for a week. We traveled there with our toddler and appreciated the high chair being available. The lake is beautiful and location is easily accessible into Traverse City and surrounding area.

We stayed the last weekend of October. The cottage is very comfortable and inviting with a nice open floor plan and view of the lake. Weather was cool, lake was beautiful and we enjoyed the outdoor fire pit by the water and the indoor wood burning stove. The market/gas station in cedar has a good supply of firewood. Owner was quick to respond to inquiries and the visit went very smoothly.

Convenient Location

We, a group of sisters, went to this cabin for a long weekend birthday getaway. It was a great location and had all we needed. The view of Lake Leelanau is amazing.

My husband grew up in this area and I have been here more than 20 years. We just purchased this cottage spring 2015. We look forward to sharing it with our guests. We have two children (14 & 16 yrs old). We love to water ski, tube, and swim in the water. This is a perfect spot. We bought this property because we LOVE the location.

Why they chose this property

We love that this cottage is an open floor plan with a huge stone fireplace, 2 full bathrooms and 3 bedrooms. There is lots of charm and character. We also love the outdoor spaces. The two outdoor balconies and the wrap around porch with the lake view are hard to beat. We also put in a fire pit for s'mores. Very important;-)

What makes this property unique

The best feature is location, the flat lot, and the waterfront. We like that it is 20 mins from Traverse City, and 4 minutes to the village of Cedar. It is also minutes from Lake Michigan, Suttons Bay, Leland, and Glen Arbor. There are several wineries within a 20 mile radius.
