Gibbs retreat is centrally located in the beautiful quiet wooded subdivision of Beechwood West at Smith Mt. Lake, making it close to shopping and activities. By water it is located at R 31 on the main channel of the Roanoke arm of the lake, less than 5 minutes by water to Hales Ford Bridge, Bridgewater Plaza and more. In just a 15 minutes drive you can access the main shopping areas of the lake, restaurants, gift shops, children activities, putt-putt golf. We are only 45 minutes from Roanoke and 55 to Lynchburg; making it easy to spend the day in either place. Gibbs Retreat is just as beautiful in the fall, winter and spring. We are surrounded by trees to enjoy the beautiful colors in fall and spring.

Winter is a great time to visit and enjoy quiet time around the fireplace. SML offers a lot of fun festivals including Pirate Days the 3rd weekend in July, SML Antique and Classic Boat Festival in September, SML Home Tour in October, and Chili Festival in November. You will also find plenty of fireworks for 4th of July and events during December for Christmas . Winter would be a wonderful to spend time with family putting puzzles together, playing games, celebrating Thanksgiving or Christmas. Worried there will be no decorations for Christmas, no need I decorate the inside of the house for Christmas. Winter would also be a great time if you are an author and need a quite place to write, quilters or scrapbookers…..

Gibbs retreat is comfortable 3-bedroom wood frame house with a large great room. The house comes with 2 lake front queen masters. One on the main level and one downstairs and an additional queen bed and 2 single beds available upstairs. Our open design kitchen has a large island, new appliances and is complete with everything you need. The great room with a high beam ceiling hosts an extra-large dining table that looks right out to the lake. Our updated new wood floors complement our spectacular view. The basement has been completely renovated from floor to ceiling including the bathroom with a new large walk-in shower. The outdoor deck is complete with a security gate at the steps has a large table for outdoor dining, grill, seating to enjoy the view and gas firepit. We provide the propane for the gas grill and firepit at no extra charge. We have added a porch swing under the deck to sit and enjoy the quiet. It's a great hideaway. Guests are welcome to any floats we have in the garage. Our laundry is located in the guest bath on the main floor eliminating any trips downstairs. Bringing or renting a boat? Great! We have a covered dock with electricity. There is plenty of parking including a spot for your boat trailer. We offer boat launch at our neighborhood boat ramp, ask for details.

Upon your arrival you will find starter paper products - 2 rolls of toilet paper in the bathrooms, paper towels, sponge, dish pods and trash bags to get you started for your week. We provide all the dish/dishwasher and hand soaps, kitchen towels, coffee filters, and salt/pepper. We are dog friendly and will allow one dog.

Enjoy our cable and Wi-Fi with Xfinity, VCR/DVD and a stereo system. The basement has a game room with assorted VCR/DVD movies, library, board games, cards, poker chips and foosball table to keep the kids, big and small, occupied.
