Very cool stay in a safe neighborhood. Home has everything you need for a comfortable stay, lots of games, a full kitchen, lots of towels, and cool decor. Would def recommend!
We loved the ambiance of the mid-century vibe. Better than what we anticipated. So much nostalgic decor. It was comfortable and felt lived in--in a good way. It was the perfect size for the 4 of us.
We had a great time exploring the attention to detail put into the mid century marvel. The place was well kept, extremely clean, and the hosts were very communicative throughout the entire process!
Very cool and well maintained mid-century. House, decorations, furniture, books, record player and more. It makes you feel like you've gone back in time to the 60's for a chill relaxing stay. Very convenient location. Just minutes to anything you want in Bend.
The house was clean, owners were great with communication and just an overall awesome experience. We even had a five point buck hanging out in the yard keeping an eye on the place while we out for the day! Close enough to town to get everywhere easily and far enough out it was very quiet and peaceful.
We had a great stay at Daniel’s property. He was quick to respond to our booking request and the house was nicely decorated. We would highly recommend it!
The Jones Roadhouse is a gem: it’s cozy, clean, and welcoming. The host is super-responsive and helpful. Whether you plan to settle in and live like a local or just need a home base for a quick trip, you’ll be so glad you booked it!
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed staying in this gem. I was taken in with the pictures on the walls, the art, the books and the many vintage appliances. The home is meticulously maintained. Despite having some updates and modern appliances and furnishings, I felt like I was in a living museum. It was charming. Hoping we can come back and stay here again sometime soon!
We loved staying here for our week of exploring the Bend area this summer, and appreciate the era-appropriate details found in this early '50s house. It's very close to downtown yet far enough away in a quiet neighborhood to be relaxing. A short walk down the road there's a nice city park worth exploring, and don't miss taking a short drive north to see Smith Rock State Park! Overall, a great fit for our needs!
Unbelievable attention to the mid century modern esthetic!
Our hosts weren't kidding when they listed that the house was truly mid century modern! down to every last detail.
They checked to see if we arrived ok and then again later in the week to see if we needed anything!
As well as a thank you follow up.
Great location and cute neighborhood.
Lots of info about the house and the area in their welcome notebook.
Thanks for a nice visit!
This place is a gem! A perfectly curated time capsule from the 1950’s. We loved every minute. We had deer in the back yard every night. As a city guy that was pretty magical. I would come back to this place again and again. Maybe the best vacation rental I have had. Can I give it 6 stars? Everything was so easy. Simply delightful!
If you are not old enough, ask your parents about the home they grew up in. It was quite amazing with the old books, records, magazines, appliances. With that said, everything was upgraded and worked just fine. Internet too slow and cable tv didn't work, but hey, we were in Bend and mostly went out and hiked.
We are two couples who came to Bend for the weekend to enjoy the James Taylor concert. This house was perfect for us. The mid-century modern vibe was outstanding. Every detail is captured. recognized many items from our own childhood homes. Owner knew we were there for the James Taylor concert and provide two records of his for the turntable. Communication was easy and quick. Home had everything we needed for a successful trip. Location was very convenient for us. If you’re looking for high end, super updated, this is not for you. But if you enjoy an authentic experience in a clean home where everything works, you should stay here. Great home. Great location. Great hosts.

The Jones Roadhouse
Loved this place located in the center of Bend! Very clean with comfortable beds and pillows and a gas fireplace to keep the living room cozy. We had lots of fun enjoying the decor - old record albums and a turntable that worked, Life and Look magazines, a collection of Nancy Drew books, pounded copper, flying geese made from metal displayed on the walls. The attention to mid-century modern detail is thoughtful and lends an air of authenticity to the residence. Even the kitchen appliances stay true to the theme. The only reason it’s not rated 5 is that the home has a bit of a musty smell to it, perhaps when it’s too long between guests or weather has prevented the owner from opening windows. My husband and I highly recommend this place!

BEWARE: THIS HOUSE HAS MAJOR ISSUES!
When we first arrived we could smell gas. We had to open all doors and air out the house. After that we tried to use the oven to heat up our dinner. The oven would not stay lit. Nor would the stove work properly. We called the owner to report these issues and he was unwilling to do anything about the problems. We eventually called the gas company to Check Out the gas issues. They found a severe leak at the fireplace and turned off the gas to the whole house. Since the owner was unwilling to Do anything about the problems VRBO had to step in and move us to another property.
I was pleasantly surprised at how delightful this house was. The furniture, magazines, games, etc. were a throwback to the mid-1900s. I did not realize how much I would enjoy this--well put together and an enjoyable place to stay.
Great location for downtown and river outings, as well as day trips. Comfortable and clean and sitting areas inside and out for all to sit back and enjoy!
Definitely would stay again.
…only much happier than Betty and Don!
Dan’s place is awesome. Every little detail is thought through for his guests comfortable stay. I usually take a day or so to feel comfortable in rentals but I instantly felt at home. Very clean home that is obviously well-cared for. I appreciated the nightlights everywhere! We have young kids and we travel with nightlights but didn’t need them this stay. Location is perfect too. We played the game of Life from 1991, which is a much better version than what we have now! Lots of fun and everything we needed for our favourite city in Oregon. Thanks again!

Why they chose this property
We loved the authentic, Mid-Century architectural style of this home. The house has great "bones," and was constructed with the finest materials and structural elements available in 1958. The location is great for getting in and out for travelers, and has easy walking access to parks, hospital, markets, and restaurants. Located close to the Deschutes River, and the downtown area of Bend as well. The surrounding neighborhood has mature trees, quaint homes, and is just two blocks from Bend's most beautiful park--Hollinshead Park. It is a classic example of the Mid-Century style of home, and there are not many of these left in Bend. We wanted to restore and preserve this beautiful, time-capsule marvel.
What makes this property unique
An understated expression of the mid-century style and attitude essential for a relaxed and casual stay. This is an authentic, well built home in a beautiful, classy neighborhood built in the Mid Century Ranch style. It features an open floor plan, central brick chimney, and exposed beams. Lovingly restored to it's former glory, but with all new surfaces, keeping all original and authentic fixtures. Very cool interior vibe, on a large, triple lot which offers a real sense of comfort and privacy. Close to all of Bend's amenities in all directions. Centrally located in Mid Town, just 1 mile from St. Charles Medical Center, which offers world-class health care. Close to the Downtown area and Bend's cultural amenities. Easy to find, and easy to get in an out of when traveling.
