Perfect base for a Hydra trip

House is perfectly located in the center of town. Easy walk to the beach and restaurants. Didn't spend much time indoors but house was appointed with everything we needed and extras (movie projector, washing machine , etc...) Would love to stay again!

Donkey days

Hydra is a special place - no cars, no noise, another than the clop clop of donkey’s passing by. We loved the place and island so much we extended a day! Jump in the water is clear.

The house is located next to the Hotel Leto so excellent access to port area. The design is both stylish yet sticks absolutely to its heritage. The outdoor space is nice if a bit sterile with no plants or vines. There is a large fridge in the back that has storage space for ice. The shower is great with instantly hot water, no flipping the water heater switch and then waiting 20 minutes as in most houses. The host is very accommodating. The only caveat is that the beds are not beds. They're futons about 11 inches above the floor so unless you want to do a deep squat every time you get in or out of bed, be forwarned. Also the description doesn't really show the two story full staircase with no ballestrads that connects the beds with the bathroom or kitchen area. Under no circumstances should small children be in this space. The stairwell is too dangerous. So if stylish is what you want and your knees can take the constant stair climbing and deep squats, this is a great house.

The house is clearly presented on the Vrbo listing as a three-story traditional home, and the photos accurately show the interior layout, including the staircases and the style of the sleeping areas. The property is designed in keeping with its heritage, and the futon-style beds are an intentional feature that is also visible in the listing photos. We understand that the layout and sleeping arrangements may not suit everyone’s personal preferences. During your stay, we made every effort to improve your comfort by providing additional mattress toppers for all of the beds as a special accommodation. Regarding the stairs, the listing also states that the property is not suitable for children under the age of six, precisely because of the staircase design. This information is provided so guests can determine whether the home is the right fit for their needs before booking. Our goal is always to ensure our guests have an enjoyable stay, and we are sorry that the traditional architecture was not what you had expected. Best property ever!

Lovely quiet location, easy access to the Port, supermarkets, and restaurants of this wonderful island. The layout was wonderful for two couples and the terraces were brilliant for eating outside and relaxing within easy reach of the well appointed kitchen. Our friends loved the use of the main bedroom in the villa while we enjoyed the well appointed annex in the courtyard. It was a very happy stay for all of us and would revisit in a heartbeat. We were met at the Port by the friendly and helpful manager Tracy and as said there was very little difficulty with the steps even though there were many. Thank you Harinos for your help and your glorious properrty

The host met us at the port and walked us to the apartment and that was a nice bonus because navigating can be confusing when first arriving. The apartment was as described in the listing with perhaps one exception. It was not clear to us that there are actually 3 floors of living space because the kitchen/laundry are in the "basement". As stated in the listing, if you have any mobility issues with stairs, this may not be suitable for you. The two living spaces, one near the kitchen and one on the middle floor, are both comfortable and the beds were also very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and having a laundry was great! The outdoor seating in the Courtyard complete with electrical outlets was very, very nice and we spent quite a bit of time sitting outside in the sun. All in all a very nice stay for us as a couple but we are very fit and mobile and if we had older people or small children traveling with us, it would not have worked well.

Beautifully restored home that was close to town! Wonderful hosts that answered questions promptly!

Harinos has created an incredible home on Hydra. The property was immaculate and very thoughtfully designed to reflect a remarkable degree of environmental and historical consciousness. The property lies approximately four city blocks above the central harbor and promenade and is a wonderful location for your stay in Hydra. We enjoyed dining at Isalose for both breakfast and dinner ( many places were closed during low season) and there was a supermarket within about a block of the home. The silence at night without motorized vehicles was a welcome relief after several evenings in both Athens and Nafplio. We enjoyed long walks along the shoreline paths and although high winds delayed our departure, we managed to use the local ferry to Metochi which was a minimal 25-30 minute voyage. The home and Courtyard were marvelous for relaxing at night and we enjoyed a lovely evening outside beside the fireplace once the winds had subsided. Thank you kindly for the use of you home and if you ever choose to visit the Caribbean, please give me a call and you are welcome to stay in our island home in the Dominican Republic.

Sehr schönes und stilvolles Haus mit einem Extrazimmer mit Dusche, WC und Klimaanlage in hervorragender Lage. Die Ausstattung des Hauses ließ nichts zu wünschen übrig , es gab sogar Badehandtücher für den Strand. Wir haben als Familie mit 3 Erwachsenen dort Urlaub gemacht. Der Kontakt zum Gastgeber war problemlos. Wir würden jederzeit gerne wieder dort Urlaub machen.

Charming stay in Hydra

The property is well presented and it did accommodate 8 people (2 families of 4). Although we had to spend some time to figure out how best to allocate bedding because it’s not all conveniently located. Essentially, all living space was taken up by bedding, so there was no area we could use to relax internally during the day. The owner Dimitri has said they will market the property as a 6 person property going forward. We liked the outdoor seating area but I think it could do with a covered area to shelter from sun and rain. The flimsy outdoor umbrella really takes away from the property’s charm. We really liked the large fully equipped kitchen which we used to make cooked breakfasts every morning. The location was very convenient, which doesn’t require any assistance for luggage transportation. Privacy is a bit of an issue when wanting to use the bathroom facilities... I think installing a door to the toilet and shower rather than a curtain would be appropriate. Dimitri has taken on this feedback and will be making changes to make the facilities more private. There is also a large area for laundry facilities. I think with a few extra touches this could be a great property for 5 to 6 people.
