We had a wonderful time at this location. The landscape is beautiful and with unique birds, lizards and flora. The pool was the perfect temperature and well maintained, and we loved our private afternoon jacuzzis. Max is a great host and very attentive and friendly. We highly recommend this property.

Amazing

We loved this property. It was perfectly located in the rain forest with gorgeous views. It was quiet. We loved sitting in the hot tub every evening. The host was amazing and very helpful from the day we booked until our last day there. We will definitely stay there again.

La Fortuna

The rental property is amazing, newly updated and stocked for renters needs. The grounds are also very nice, better than we expected. The host was very helpful with our needs and questions. He arranged dinner and tour reservations for us, even supplied us with fresh eggs from the adjacent farm

Wonderful stay

we had a wonderful time at Bukala village. Max was so helpful with suggestions on activities and even arranging a great private guide for an excellent hike. The house was extremely clean and secure, with unbelievably beautiful gardens, leading to a lovely river. Would highly recommend this home for La Fortuna/arenal activities. Max is great to deal with, so warm and helpful!

Upcountry experience

The property is fantastic. A relatively short drive out of La Fortunate but so worth the drive. Max is amazing and so accommodating. You will be sorry to miss this property if you are in the area.

Unbelievably Beautiful

I highly recommend staying here! The gardens are beyond beautiful and Max is the best host! The home was fully stocked and very clean. Waking up, admiring the gorgeous grounds, and hearing the sounds of nature all around was humbling. We feel lucky that Max shared his little slice of heaven with us.

The was really clean, airy and comfortable. The property is beautiful! Lush and well groomed

Max was fantastic! He helped us arrange activities and was alway available. He definitely made the stay even better. The houses are clean, full of natural light and extremely comfortable. The bathrooms are beautiful with rain shower heads ❤️ The pool was a great bonus. Look forward to visiting again!

Young family's first time in Costa Rica

The property was beautiful and quiet. We felt as though Max set us up beautifully for a wonderful stay and helped us with setting up tours. He was available for questions and acted like our very own concierge. My only regret is that we didn't stay longer. We were far enough outside of the city and the grounds had beautiful paths that we could explore. Such a great experience. We hope to be back here soon!

Slice of Heaven just off the beaten path

This place is lovely. It is a collection of a few units in a gated community which shares a lovely property with gardens and a pool and some hammocks near a peaceful stream. The unit itself is well equiped with a comfy king bed and bathroom in one room and a the second room is great as well. The hot tub on the deck was gorgeous and a much needed respite after a day of hiking. Max was extremely helpful at checkin and also helped us book restaurants for dinner. The place is about a 10-12 drive from downtown La Fortuna and we could not recommend it enough. Fantastic place!

Amazing accommodations and service

The property is beautiful with so many different flowers and plants, a creek, small pool and even a cute little farm. The home was clean and well set up with everything we needed to cook and make our family of 4 comfortable. Max helped to arrange our activities like repelling, rafting, zip lining and a hot springs. His recommendations were great, and we really enjoyed adventuring with Maquique. I’d highly recommend! It’s about 15 min from town, so I’d recommend a rental car. We will be back!

Hidden paradise.

Can't thank our hosts Max and Ingrid enough for a wonderful time we had in their villas! Very well equipped, roomy and bright two bedroom villas offer complete privacy and amazing views of the lush gardens. Just a short 15 minutes ride away from La Fortuna and all the restaurants and activities of Arenal area. Even though we did our research, we relied on Max's recommendations to select the best choice of activity that matched our group's interest and were never disappointed! Book all your activities through him! We will not even think of staying anywhere else on our return to Costa Rica.

It was Perfecto!

The minute we arrived Max gave us some fresh pineapple juice. Super nice guy, very friendly. His dog Emily would visit us every night too. She made us feel welcome as well. The house was perfect and very clean. The best part was the porch looking into the garden. We saw many birds, even Tucans! Loved our first time in La Fortuna. The road from San Juan via rt 1 to 702 is nice, everyone thought it was bad. It was a beautiful drive, a bit windy but a good road. Max offered to come get us, but we managed. We were afraid of getting lost.

A beautiful place in Costa Rica

The property was lovely. The villa was clean, modern and extremely comfortable. It was very private with a great deck/patio with seating and the hot tub. The grounds are incredible -- beautifully landscaped, with a babbling brook (and hammocks) to relax and a pool. The location is about 15 minutes from La Fortuna where all the restaurants are found so unless you want to cook, be prepared for the drive. The one problem we had was initially finding the place. Directions were on google maps which, unfortunately, did not work on our devices in Costa Rica. While I had a printed copy, it was difficult to follow and the sign for the property is not clearly visible from the street. (It would be helpful for the host to improve the signage.) So, be sure you have a working google maps app when you travel there to avoid the problem we had. Overall, a wonderful experience. I highly recommend the property.

Simply Wonderful!

Our stay at the Cala Lilly house was truly wonderful. The home is just as described, if not better in person. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous with lush vegetation with all sorts of tropical flowers drawing a large variety of birds! The home itself was impeccably clean and very well suited for our family of four. The location is about 10-15 minutes outside of downtown; it's quiet and you feel like you're in your own tropical paradise! Sit on the deck and bird watch, relax by the stream or cool off in the pool - all are wonderful! Communication with Magdalena and Max was superb and onsite, Max was incredibly helpful with recommendations of restaurants and such. We highly recommend the Cala Lilly house - it was simply wonderful!

Was a great location with beautiful grounds. Max was really nice however there was a mixup and mid week we had to change units. It wasn’t a huge deal but was a little annoying to repack and move everything.

A private oasis

We loved this property. Max and Magdalena were very responsive and easy to work with, both before our visit and after we arrived. The villa is a about 10 minutes outside of LaFortuna, but very manageable. Restaurants were still within easy travel. Th property at the villa is beautifully maintained and we felt as if we were in the middle of the rainforest. So many birds to enjoy. Our unit had a hot tub which we made a lot of use of as our private pool. Max was helpful with tour recommendations as well as restaurant recommendations. We would highly recommend this property.

Great Place. Great Owner.

My family of 4 had a great time at this location. The villa is very clean and contemporary...everything looks like new. It’s about a 10 minute drive to downtown La Fortuna where you’ll find everything you need. Max and Magdalena are absolutely wonderful people.

Hidden Gem.

This place was super nice. Max takes great pride in his property and rentals. It’s a bit off the beaten path but well worth it. This is a really nice two bedroom 2 bath house in beUtiful surroundings!

We stayed for two nights. It is about 15 minutes from La Fortuna which is nice as it is very peaceful. It has a nice stream that runs right through the back of the property. Max was very nice and very helpful. Book your rafting trips through him. We used Wayz and had a hard time finding it. Talking to others they said Google maps took them right there.
