About this property

Lake Huron Hideaway - Unwind, Relax, and Connect

Make memories in our cozy and peaceful home nestled in tall pines, just outside of Rogers City, Michigan. Our house was built in the 1950's, and we renovated it with stylish mid-century modern touches. The updated kitchen has a gas range and oven and stainless steel cookware, great for cooking and eating in. The house is stocked with high quality linens, bedding, and towels, and we strive to make sure you have the essential ingredients for an enjoyable and relaxing stay. There is a downstairs bedroom and upstairs sleeping loft, and lovely spaces to congregate inside and out. The house can comfortably accommodate a maximum of six guests.

The Hideaway is located a half-block away from the sandy beaches of Lake Huron and directly across from Hoeft State Park. Indoors we have a game room - with pingpong and foosball - and outdoors you will find a custom-built fire pit, grill, hammock, and outside dining area.

In summer, hit the beach and swim, paddle, or sail on Lake Huron. Set out for a walk, hike, bike, or run on miles of public trails, beaches, and paved paths just outside the door. Explore nearby shipwrecks and lighthouses. In the fall, revel in the gorgeous changing leaves, and visit the nearby nationally acclaimed apple orchard and cidery. Come winter, access miles of groomed cross country ski trails just across the street, or head to the other trails in the area, including Black Mountain. In spring, look for morels and enjoy the crisp nights and warming days.

We love traveling with our dogs, and we welcome your dogs, too! The backyard is enclosed with a fence, so if your dog is not a digger (meaning under the fence) or a jumper (meaning over the fence), he or she can also enjoy off-leash outdoor vacation time in the backyard. We have dog food and water bowls for your use, along with eco-friendly pick-up bags.

Due to the location of the home, there is no cable television (although we do have two TVs with DVD players and a nice collection of movies), cell service is limited, and we do not have internet or wi-fi. Many of our guests welcome the peace and tranquility that comes with not having cable or internet and the opportunity to unwind, relax, and connect with one another. We have a land line phone for your use.

Great location right by beach entrance and state park entrance! Plenty of room for my family of 4 and my Pup! Loved having the enclosed back yard and game room. House was super clean and had all the amenities we could think of, the host even went above and beyond and left some goodies for us, our dog and My son who was celebrating a birthday while we were there!

This was the perfect getaway for our family! Our 2 toddler boys loved it, as did our basset. The property was clean, full of amenities and relaxing. Such a cute little hidden gem. The best cottage ive stayed at so far- we will be back!

The hideaway has everything you need

We love how close it is to the beach—just a 30-second walk! The house has tons of fun stuff for all ages. The quiet backyard and firepit are family favorites, and my son’s obsessed with the game room. It’s an awesome spot, which is why we keep coming back.

Perfect Upnorth Cottage

Everything was just as listed. The cottage is clean and adorable. Neighbors were friendly. Beach is so close I took my morning coffee and watched the sunrise! Back yard fire pit was great. Host was friendly and responsive. Thank you for a memorable stay!

Great property!

Very well kept up cottage. Great location, not far from town and of course the lake. The kitchen had everything we needed. The fenced yard is great for pets. Next time I think we'll bring the dog. The owner leaves a welcome basket for people and the dogs. We listened to the records, we havent done that in a long time!

Loved this cottage!

This quaint little cottage was just perfect for our needs. It was clean, nicely decorated and had EVERYTHING we could have needed. the kids loved the ping pong and foosball tables. It kept them quite busy. The fenced in yard was nice for the dogs. Nice location, and we enjoyed our stay even with the cold snowy weather. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again!

Amazing stay! Great house with all the feelings of home. Access to the beach was a short walk and having the fenced in back yard for the dogs was everything. We relaxed and also had space to do some work. We were able to have Starlink for internet. Our Verizon cell phone had 5G and 3 bars most of the time. AT&T and T-Mobile were maybe 1 or 2 bars consistently. Mint Mobile was zero bars.Monica was an amazing host and made sure we were comfortable. She left us snacks, household items (so we wouldnt have to purchase them), and the towels/bedsheets were nice quality. We are already looking forward tobour next stay! 10/10 would recommend

Wonderful hideaway!

We loved everything about this property and enjoyed our time here. Really thoughtful touches like having the wood already setup for a fire in the fire pit and a s’mores kit included. Would highly recommend.

We, Steve and Monica, are both originally from Rogers City. We attended school together and were high school sweethearts. Over the course of the next 20+ years, we lived in cities all over the country, including New York and Chicago, and (at long last) married in 2014. We now reside in Northern Michigan with our three beloved rescue dogs and cherish our role as hosts for visitors from around the world. We hope you enjoy the Hideaway as much as we do!
