About this property
Peaceful, Oceanfront Retreat, Sleeps 6, Semi-Private Sandy Swim Area
B's at Sea is located on the Ocean Point peninsula. Linekin Bay is to the west, and the Damariscotta River to the east. Perched high on a cliff overlooking the river and ocean, B's at Sea is a soothing retreat away from the bustle of Boothbay Harbor, yet close enough to enjoy all of its amenities. Newly updated and comfortably appointed for up to 6 guests, with 2 full bathrooms, new washer & dryer, gas grill, full kitchen with dishwasher, lobster feasting equipment, deck, all new bedding, pillows, linens, towels and beach towels, new furnishings, high speed wi-fi, cable tv, shared association sandy (at low tide) swim and picnic area 3 doors away, suitable for launching your canoe or kayak.
One queen bedroom, second bedroom with two twins, pull-out queen sofa bed, (with 2" foam topper for extra comfort) and new loft, accessed by a ship-type ladder, (spring 2016) which sleeps two on a full sized futon.
A distant foghorn or the lapping surf may lull you to sleep at night. The murmur of lobster boat engines will likely be the first sounds of the morning. The sun rises early in Maine, and so do many of the lobstering-folk! It is a pleasant, calming hum, however.
The enormous stone fireplace warms the cottage on cool nights. Firewood and starter logs provided. Several games, books, and magazines as well as family DVDs, are kept at B's at Sea for guests to enjoy.
Those more agile may get down to the water's edge and sit on the rocks, but it is somewhat of a challenging descent! Please exercise caution, and supervise children carefully. We will continue to improve the property in order to make the trek easier, and will update the listing accordingly.

Setting was lovely, views were to die for, the renovated portion of the house (living/dining area) was great. Bedrooms and bathrooms are a bit rustic and obviously awaiting renovation. We were very comfortable there and enjoyed a great time.
Beth’s place is simply breathtaking! The home is clean, bright, beautifully decorated and filled with light. The deck became the best part of our days - from sunrises, coffee and lobster boats in the morning to grilling, ospreys, bats and sailboats in the evening. The location is central to many activities. We were beyond blessed to be there and already long to return.
We enjoyed the quiet location with fabulous views from the deck and living room. It's an easy drive to Ocean Point for running, walking, climbing on the rocks or swimming. And very close to Boothbay Harbor.
We absolutely loved Bees ByThe Sea! The welcoming, well appointed cottage hosted 6 adults perfectly. Morning coffee on the deck with fabulous Damariscotta River and ocean views was such a bonus! The location was great. We hope to be back again next year!

Thank you for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you back!
My family thoroughly enjoyed our week at B’s at Sea. The views are spectacular and the interior was comfy and tastefully decorated. Our son loved the shared beach access and it was a quiet, peaceful neighborhood to walk around in, as a family, with great access to the trails at the nearby Land Trust Preserve. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
Great little house in great location with a wonderful view. Well decorated; well provisioned
One of the best places we’ve stayed, which is a testament to the owner as they are still working to bring the property to its fullest potential. Little more needs to be said. We hope to stay there again. 5*s all round.

Thank you, Duncan! We hope you and your family decide to come again!!
We could not bring ourselves to leaving the porch: views towards the ocean and across a river were spectacular. The house is spacious and bright, located on a very quiet private road, a short drive to all Boothbay Peninsula attractions.
Also, house owner Beth was very helpful with restaurants recommendations.
The cottage is charming, spotlessly clean and well appointed. Sometimes you wonder whether the property will be as good as it looks in the photos and we were delighted to find this cottage even better than we hoped. Beth is an attentive host who provided all the info we needed ahead of our stay. Highly recommended and have already passed this one onto friends.
We recently returned for our second stay at B’s Cottage, and it was just as fantastic as the first time! Every aspect of our stay was perfect. The location is convenient, an easy drive to explore all of Boothbay.
We loved the paddleboarding opportunities right from the shared cove at the property, and at nearby Ocean Point. Many restaurants and lobster shacks are close by, offering a great variety of delicious meals when we didn’t cook for ourselves in the well-appointed kitchen.
Beth is a great host and communicates well. We highly recommend this rental to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway in Maine.

Thank you, Matthew. Was great to have you back! Beth
Views! Views! We have stayed in Boothbay Harbor before but East Boothbay is just the right combination of quite, beauty and access. Beth's place has wonderful views of Casco Bay and the Damariscotta River. The lobster boats in the morning and the light off the water at night were amazing. We had a Bald Eagle hunting up and down the river flying right below the house over the water. Cant beat it. Thanks for the stay.
Well suited for an unforgettable family experience. Quick responses from owners. Kitchen dishes, silverware, utensils, pots and pans extremely well stocked. The binoculars provided a close up view of lobster boats coming and going.
One minor item...Handle was broken off the porcelain soap dish built into the main bath tub wall. Would encourage replacement.
We had a great time!!

Lovely coastal Maine cottage
My wife and I had a lovely stay in late September. The cottage has wonderful views of the Damariscotta river and out towards the bay and open ocean. We spent hours sitting on the deck and enjoying the view. The location is fantastic with a nice little beach area down the road and a short drive into Boothbay center. The living area was wonderfully decorated and Beth has the cottage stocked perfectly for guests with towels and kitchen supplies-everything a guest could need.
A few areas for improvement
-views are very nice but landscaping is pretty rough and could really use some work, there is a lot of potential for the yard.
-the lower deck was recently patched up but needs some more work, the rail is not sturdy.
-while the decorating is very tasteful and thoughtful, particularly the lovely main room, some areas such as bathroom and kitchen need updating for the price range...
Overall: Fantastic coastal cottage with lovely views. We had a great time and would both return in the future and recommend to friends and family! Thanks Beth!

Thank you so much for the review! Glad you enjoyed your stay. I agree with the points you've made regarding the landscape and improvements. We are in our second year of ownership and are continuously trying to make the cottage better and more comfortable. Hope to see you again!
So happy we found this lovely cottage. Just as described and views to die for. Sit on the porch or down in the chairs and watch the lobstermen working early morning or watch the Bald eagles and Osprey flying by.
Very private but close to many of the wonderful Boothbay area trails, shopping and many great restaurants.
Cottage has everything you need for a perfect week or two. Nothing was lacking and communication with host easy. Would stay again!
We had a wonderful week here (two adults, two teens). The cottage has large windows to let the sea breezes in and to view the ever changing river scene (and weather). The kitchen is well stocked with dishes/mugs/cups/silverware/utensils/pans, etc., along with basics such as sugar, salt/pepper, olive oil, tea. Bring your own of anything to be refrigerated. Washer/dryer is a plus. The sofas and beds were comfortable and the two teens enjoyed the loft area. Two decks (east and south) let you choose shade or sun most of the day, with comfy seating for reading or bird watching (the family of ospreys were especially active). Lobster and sail boats come by daily. Location is excellent - short drives to Ocean Point, the botanical gardens and Boothbay Harbor proper. The quiet neighborhood was a welcome retreat from the world. I would highly recommend B's @ Sea.
The property is as advertised. We have never stayed in such a well stocked place before. The view is spectacular and so peaceful. We did the Cabbage Island Clambake which was a lot of fun. We saw a gorgeous sunset at Boothbay Lobster Wharf. Great early entertainment for those of us of a certain age. The Adirondack chairs at the water proved too difficult for us to get to. Overall a wonderful time!
Our family of 6 stayed here in July 2022. We enjoyed our time and loved the river view. We welcomed the morning sun into the master every morning, and we enjoyed all of the sites and sounds. The home was spacious enough to sleep all 4 of our girls. The evening breeze through the home kept us plenty cool. We spent some time on the patio, as well as time down in the beach chairs that are perched above the water. Great stay - very relaxing.
The owner is great to communicate with. The location is lovely and as always Boothbay harbor does not disappoint!! The cottage was lovely

About the host
Hosted by Beth G.
My husband and I bought this cottage in June of 2015 and spent the summer renovating and restoring it. It had been unoccupied for quite some time, and had become dated and overgrown. I grew up in Maine, and have many wonderful memories of Boothbay Harbor as a child, not to mention worked during summer months waiting tables at several fine establishments in the area.
Why they chose this property
East Boothbay is classic Maine. The small village, general store, post office, historic shipyard, and shingled summer cottages make this part of the region extraordinarily special and iconic. Once again, you are close to the harbor, but also far enough to get away from the crowds!
What makes this property unique
It was apparent through the overgrowth, that the water views were fantastic, and that the place really just needed some attention. Lobster boat engines can be heard early in the morning right outside the windows, as the bright, eastern sunshine pours in!
The high level of boating traffic yields something interesting to watch at all times. Whether it be lobster fishing, sailing regattas, large luxury vessels, sightseeing cruises, or persoal watercraft, on a sunny day it is constant.
