Quiet little cabin in the woods! Owner was always quick to communicate when I contacted him! Some of the dishes we used did ha e to be washed prior to use as some were sticky; overall the space itself was clean! For those with smaller vehicles or unused to mountain roads- use caution as the road up is quite steep and bumpy. Not a problem if you’re a good driver, just something to keep in mind.
This is our fourth stay at the property and we love it every time! This time we discovered the Ashe County park in Jefferson, which is enormous and beautiful. My boys enjoyed its basketball court and baseball field, while I enjoyed the walking trails and pond. We also floated our raft down the New River and enjoyed walking the neighborhood. The temperature was about 10-15 cooler than Atlanta, so that was an added benefit. We love the time away to make memories with our boys, and the cabin is the perfect size for our family.

Very relaxing and peaceful. Perfect place to get away from stress. Enjoyed the deck with the nice view and seeing several deer along the road to the house. We will be back!

Quiet, secluded getaway.
We enjoyed our stay. It was very quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed watching the squirrels and saw several deer walk right up to the back yard. We went out exploring each day cooked in each evening. Sleep was easy in the quiet, wooded setting. Hated to leave. Hope to come again soon.
Always very pleasant!
No surprises.
Thanks Elias!
Still not sure about next year.
We are now past 75 yo.

Xmas Weekend Getaway
Stayed Dec 24 to 27th.. Nice cabin once all the renovations are done. The place needed a good cleaning from where the floors were just redone. We had to clean the bathrooms and kitchen and dinning table before using.
We left a list of suggestions and needs for the cabin on the refrigerator.
Had to move the table close to the kitchen counter to use the ethernet because wifi wasn't working.
Overall a very nice place and we will definitely return.

Will not be returning
Our arrival date was Saturday, July 23, 2016. While on our way, I received a call from the owner (2:02PM) that the cabin we booked and received CONFIRMATION on was not going to be available until Sunday morning, the 24th. Turning back around was not an option as I was an hour from the cabin therefore had to get a hotel in Jefferson for the night which was a huge inconvenience and incurred additional costs however I was reimbursed for the hotel cost. We were able to check in Sunday late afternoon. The cabin was nicely maintained but it is was not as secluded as I thought .. There was a portable AC in the living room but the bedrooms were extremely hot . The microwave did not work, there was a bee nest in the mailbox ( which two of my boys were stung) while trying to spray and kill them. The trip started out a little rocky but we did have a nice time overall however I will not be a returning customer. My biggest complaint is that I paid for 7 nights however only stayed for 6 nights. I sent numerous emails inquiring if I was going to be reimbursed for that one night. Even though we are looking at only $60, in every email I sent, the owner never acknowledged it. For that reason I will not be a returning customer nor recommend this property to any family or friends.. I'm only grateful that my loss was small and not substantial.
There was a house within a stones throw across the street. There were 4 other houses right there.
The coffee pot was tiny. There was only one towel in the house although it states linens provided.
However very clean, except for the feeling of crumbs on the bed.
Satellite was not working but roku and Netflix were available.
Note on fridge states take shoes off prior to entering and be in before dark.
Wasn't completely horrible but we will not go back.
This was the perfect honeymoon getaway. We kept the blinds open in the bedroom at night so we could wake up to the sunrise. Absolutely stunning. We went in November and it was so quiet and relaxing. Definitely could see us going here again.
Good property up in the mountains. Don't recommend driving up at night, but we did. Several different ways to get to the cabin, some roads are narrow and bumpy, but hey it's the mountains. Woke up every morning to walk the dogs and plenty of deer and squirrels around. Cabin had all the necessities, but we were missing a fireplace or fire pit. Overall, my wife was very happy with her birthday getaway.
Great views off the back deck and you definitely feel like you're away from it all. The house could use a little TLC (the deck needs painting and is sagging in spots, there were wires sticking out of the ceiling where the smoke detector should be) but it was clean and comfortable. The owner wasn't particularly prompt in helping fix some internet issues but eventually it got resolved. We enjoyed hiking up nearby Mt. Rogers and Stone Mountain and loved hanging out on the back deck overlooking the woods and mountains.
This is our third visit to this cabin and we always have a great time! During this trip we saw the wild ponies a Grayson Highlands State Park twice, hiked the Hickory Trail at New River State Park once, and floated down the new river three times. The landscape is just breathtaking! The neighbors across the street remembered our boys from last year and they had a fun time playing together again. We are grateful for the opportunity to make more memories with our kids. Thanks for allowing us to rent it again.
We spent a week at this cabin to get out of the city for a bit. It was everything we wanted! Appalachian mountain nature, peace and quiet, and a cozy space to unwind. The location is a bit off the beaten path, but that's exactly what we were looking for. Overall, I highly recommend

My Little House
Great, comfortable property!
Only issues were that info regarding entrance gate codes; contact info for maintainance, housekeeping, and neighbor; as well as Wi-Fi info had changes but these were not up-dated on vrbo. The owner did return my phone call in a timely manner to give me the new and correct info.
View is awesome. Property was clean and had all the basics. Suggest that the towels be replaced as they are pretty worn. Bed was comfortable. You have to remove your shoes to protect the flooring.
Clean, nice & comfortable cabin. Excellent value. Views were ok. They would have been excellent if the trees were trimmed. Somewhat out of the way being about 20 miles to Jefferson. Overall, no negatives. Recommended.
Place was extremely clean which is outrageously important to me. As a city girl I am very afraid of bugs and being in a cabin was a concern. But we did not have one single spider etc in the house the whole time we were there.
The AC was unfortunately just a window unit and did hardly cool the whole cabin and was kind of noisy. Did not know about the lock box. Had the code but did not know that a key was in there...also was given the incorrect code for the gate but a man that lives outside was kind enough to give us the correct code.
We loved our time at the cabin! We tubed the new river twice, visited Grayson highlands state park twice, and biked the Virginia creeper trail. Great memories!

About the host

We live in the South Florida Area and decided to have a second home in the Mountains of North Carolina. I went to school in the small Town of Toccoa Falls Ga, at the foot hills of the Smokey Mountains. I guess you might say I got a little used to small town country living. I love the 4 seasons, where in South Fl only one season. The Fall is absolutely spectacular and with Winters are just perfect. Not what you see up North. Mild winters but you get to see snow every once in a while and there are Ski Resorts nearby. Best months for Snow January and February.
Why they chose this property
My father has been a developer of this area for over 25 years, selling to people from South Florida home sites and homes he built. Close to the NEW RIVER, which is the 2nd Oldest river in the world aside from the Nile River. It is historically protected by our Government for many years. Indian artifacts have been found in this river from way back in History.
What makes this property unique
The beautiful views from the wrap-around porch, the privacy of the wilderness, the 4 distinct seasons, the Fall as being the most beautiful, when you see the change of leaves (10/15-11/1) The New River just minutes down the gravel road. Walk, bike or by car. Watching the deer come to your house in the morning and the birds.
