About this property
Log Cabin on Pristine Quiet Maine Pond
Come and enjoy this cozy log cabin with private waterfront, relax on the covered porch or down on the dock and enjoy a barbecue on the grill or over the open fire pit. Take off a summers night chill with the warmth of a wood stove fireplace. Kayak around the pond, two kayaks come with the rental or bring your own. Woods Pond is about 500 acres in size. Listen to the loons and enjoy swimming, fishing and hiking. Excellent dark sky and stargazing from the dock or water. Bring your own boat and tie up at the dock, there is a gravel boat launch at the South end of the lake. Due to the size of the cabin and the wear and tear we have experienced with larger groups we only rent to a maximum of three people. Ideally a couple looking for a relaxing getaway. We also allow one well behaved dog. The cabin is ideally situated to explore this part of Western Maine. It is only about a 15 minute drive from downtown Bridgton which is a happening little town offering a movie theater, numerous gift stores, Reny's Dept store, a Hannaford supermarket, book stores and countless dinning choices nearby. The cabin is also an easy commute to the Stone Mountain Arts Center if you would like to take in a show while in the area, check it out for a listing of upcoming shows. North Conway, New Hampshire is about a 30 minute drive away for additional hiking options, outlet store shopping, train rides, Storyland or paddling the Saco. This is a season rental mid-June through mid-September. Rentals run from Saturday to Saturday during peak season. 3 night minimum stay June and September. Full week minimum July and August. The hosts are wonderful, the cabin is clean, cozy, comfortable with all the comforts of home! The firepit is a nice treat after enjoying fishing and kayaking on the beautiful lake!! This is my third stay and hope to visit every summer.
I stayed with my wife and my father. This was an excellent location. Where the house is, at the north end of the lake it is quiet. The house is up to date. Keeping ourselves supplied with drinking water was not a challenge. The dock provided many enjoyable hours to fish and to observe the beautiful surroundings. It is a short but safe walk from the house to the water. And the provisions of the kayaks was greatly appreciated. I would definitely recommend this house to friends and consider renting there again. This was a place where really good memories can be made.
If you are looking for a traditional lake getaway, this is place for you! It's on a quiet dirt road, just steps from the lake. If you're lucky, you'll get to hear the loons. And dog-friendly!

Perfect camper. Left the place pristine! Would love to host her anytime!
My children and I loved being here. We had an amazing week of fun and really great weather. We had a chance to disconnect from social media, and enjoy each others company. The camp had everything we needed. EVERYTHING WENT GREAT!

The property was left in excellent condition. Would love to welcome you back anytime. Thank you!
The cabin was exactly as described, plus neat and clean. The grounds were exceptionally well maintained. The dock area was quite nice and the kayaks were easy to get into and out of the water since they are conveniently stored right at the dock. The tap water is not drinkable as it is untreated lake water, but the Fureys provided lots of bottled water, so that was a non-issue for us. We recommend this location as a great place for a lake vacation!
I can’t even express enough how much I needed this. It was the perfect mix of peace and nostalgia, as I always vacationed in the area as a child. If you’re looking for a relaxing mental reset, this place is perfect. The host's are very kind, understanding, and responsive. My husband caught some large bass, and my dog had the best time swimming and hanging out with us on the dock. I can’t recommend this property enough!
My wife and I were looking for a quiet lakefront Maine getaway, we were not disappointed!
We enjoyed the gorgeous clear water for swimming, kayaking and fishing. Lazy time sitting and relaxing on the dock. Cooking outside on the grill and wonderful campfires with a generous wood supply. A very clean and well supplied Camp.
Very convenient location to town and shopping. Communications with owner were easy and pleasant.
Amazing property and Camp!
The cabin was clean, roomy, well-equipped and comfortable. It has a lovely view of the lake, two kayaks, a great dock and a float. If you are looking for a fancy Hilton-type stay, this might not be for you. If you want to hear the screen door squeak as you go out to sit on the porch and listen to the loons, you'll love it.There is lots to do in the area if you need more excitement than relaxing at the cottage.
The log Cabin layout is very thoughtful, it seems larger than it is. IThe furniture is comfortable and in great condition.
The location is in a small row of lakehouses. Each with a property large enough that it's secluded. People in the neighborhood are very friendly but not nosy.
The property is in a well shaded grove of fir trees, so the ground is pine straw and is easy to walk on bare foot,
The pond is very queit. No jet skis or boat radios, etc.
It's a lovely place!

Thank you for the nice review and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. We have rented our cabin for many years and have, for the most part, had extremely great luck with people respecting our property. We do not charge a cleaning fee and ask our renters to leave it clean when they leave. After your stay the camp was left very dirty. In our years of renting this has only happened once or twice before. We were very disappointed to put it mildly. Please do not request to stay again.
The cabin was nicely kept and had all we needed. Shade and fans were enough to stave off the heat. The rooms are small but we do not need much for our stay. Great having 2 kayaks. A lovely kayak to the quiet far end was peaceful and fun. We could see the sunrise from the dock and kayak to the far side revealed magnificent sunsets. Only drawback is no beach, which was hard for our elderly dog so we brought her portable stairs to reach the water. Absolutely appreciate being allowed to have our dog as it would not be a vacation without her. Overall well worth the drive and the cost and glad we booked for 2 weeks.
Honestly the pictures in VRBO don't do it justice. The cabin in incredibly clean and more up-to-date than we anticipated. The campgrounds were perfect, we cooked most of our meals on the open fire - there is plenty of firewood, and cooking utensils. And the stove worked fine for the meals we couldn't cook outside. The lake water was very clean - We went into the lake every day of our stay even though it was raining for most of our trip. Our stay was incredibly peaceful, the area is very quiet and relaxing, periods of noise from the summer camp across the water and the occasional boat passing by but for the most part we could only hear the nature around us (listen for the Loon's eerie call!).
One day it rained for most of the day so we mainly stayed inside. Plenty of space for the 2 of us and our dog to relax, watch movies, read, do puzzles, etc.
This property (especially the dock) will forever be special to us as its where I proposed to my girlfriend of 7 years - she said yes!! So we absolutely intend to come back!
This rustic cabin is simple but comfortable. Our family of four enjoyed a relaxing week here swimming off the dock, taking the kayaks out on the lake, grilling burgers, watching hummingbirds on the porch, and trying to spot a well-camouflaged toad in the yard.
The property is well maintained, decorated with folksy touches like Smoky the Bear posters and a mounted jackalope head, and stocked with a good mix of kitchen equipment that made it easy for us to cook a variety of meals. There is a ceiling fan in the main room and box fans in each sleeping area. The lake is clear and clean. The porch has a mix of comfortable chairs, including some that are easily portable to the dock. The cottages on the road are close to each other and have a nice neighborly feeling; the real outlier is one cabin near this one that has been abandoned and collapsed.
A few things to know: The cabin is small, but we did not find it cramped. There are five beds in the two bedrooms and loft; the bunks in the second bedroom are ideal for kids but would be tight for adults. The main room's tall ceiling makes everything feel more spacious. The interior walls are bare boards, and sound and light does bleed through them. Most lights in the cabin are lamps with switches on the fixtures—and some of these are placed high enough on the walls that shorter people may find them inconvenient (especially in the bathroom). The shower stall is tight and the oven is small. (We loved the toaster oven, though!) The small kitchen table is positioned where only a couple of diners can sit, but it can be moved to accommodate more. We had brought a folding card table with us, and there was plenty of space to set that up as a dining table. Be advised that Verizon mobile service was almost inaccessible from the cabin, although we could reliably get a connection at the dock. Google Maps also got us a little bit lost our first time there, probably because it wasn't quite sure where we were!
The cabin was very clean and well-tended when we arrived. It is in the woods, however, and the second day of our trip we found that mice had nibbled at fruit we had left out in a bowl overnight. When we made sure to keep all food stored away overnight, we saw little evidence of mice.
The owners were very gracious hosts and we really enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for your comments. I’m glad you enjoyed your stay. I want to clarify that we did correspond prior to this booking and explained to the renters that the camp was small and may not be a good fit for four people but they felt the small size would accommodate them. Occasionally a mouse will find its way into the camp, particularly if food is left out, but this is the first time this year any evidence of mice has been mentioned. We go in and thoroughly clean between renters and have seen no evidence prior to their stay or for the past couple of weeks after their stay. We do have neighbors who have abandoned their camp. It is falling in. We love them because they are so quiet and easy going. We strive to keep our cabin a true Maine camp as we have tried to portray in the VRBO description. It is not a lake house.
John and Wendy were incredible hosts and very accessible during our stay. Their camp is absolutely lovely - clean, well maintained, well stocked. The cabin itself is beautiful. We loved spending time on the front porch, by the firepit, and of course, on the deck. The kayaks were easily accessible and the pond is truly beautiful and surprisingly warm so perfect for swimming. The neighbors were all friendly, and the pond in general is incredibly quiet. Such a peaceful getaway - just what we were looking for! We hope to go back again next year!
My husband and I spent a week off the grid, just what we needed. The lake was spectacular, floated just about every day. Reading on the dock. Took the kayaks out. Found an area hike and cycled. One cloudy morning we headed to N. Conway fir a little stopping. The cottage was just right, very clean and well loved, you can tell. We are ready to book another week next year. The owners were very responsive to questions as well. Can't say enough, we loved it.
My brother and I had a wonderful time. The property was beautiful. Nice and quiet. I was looking for a place to get away and unplug from the world. This was it. Lots of outdoor seating. Nice and shady so you don't get to hot. A nice dock to help get into the pond. We had a great time!
This cabin is exceptionally taken care of and when we arrived everything was very clean. The cabin was an oasis and is beautiful. My husband and I had a wonderful time at this cabin and made memories we will treasure. We will especially miss the sounds of the loons calling. Thank you so much for having us.

We enjoyed our stay and Wendy was very helpful and quick to answer any questions we had. The water was perfect and my wife really enjoyed it. Anyone looking for a maine cabin on the water this is the place to go....

This camp was the best place we've stayed at in years. The camp was clean and tidy in appearence, had plenty of room for overnight guests, and was the best swimming area we've seen in all our travels. Access to the dock was easy thru well groomed grounds and the floating dock was a huge hit for the grandkids. If the owner will have us we would definitely return next year. Access to our online accounts was missed w/o wifi but only for a week so we survived (lol). Absolutely great week on an absolutely great pond. Thank you for the week.

Unfortunately we did not feel these renters were a good fit for our small cabin. The request to rent was “a retired couple with no children”. When we arrived to clean it was clear that several other people had stayed over at the camp. Our past experience has been that larger parties create too much wear and tear and this was the case after their stay. This is why we specifically advertise the camp as a two bedroom rather than a three and limit the party to four people. Our estimate by the linens used and the 7 bags of trash that were generated that they had at least 6 people. There was no damage but it was more cleaning than we expected or are used to having to do when smaller parties stay at the camp.
Very quiet location on Woods Pond. Easy flat walk thru old spruce trees to dock with ladder to ease access into the clear water. Perfect place to relax and read a good book. Altho the weather was not always the best, the camp had a lovely porch with rockers to watch the rain and thunder go by. Firepit well designed. Bridgton amenities very close by. Very enjoyable stay.
