Beautiful Byron Bay
We loved staying at this property it was listed accurately with a price that matches the place. It wasn't perfect and we weren't looking for absolute luxury, but it was comfortable, great location and very clean. The location is fantastic and the house layout was great for a big family- the six of us. Some of the drawbacks are - the beds aren't comfortable and there isn't any aircon so might be hot in January.

Our Three Nights at 2/40 Lawson St Byron Bay
Positives:This apartment is in a prime position - close to the beach and all amenities - shops, pubs, restaurants. It is roomy and has very nice first verandah facing the sea with good views and air flow/breezes flowing through this upstairs first floor apartment. Negatives: The whole aortney block is old. It requires a full repaint and repair both inside and out! The driveway was covered in wet fallen leaves - not swept and clean. The automatic garage door is very noisy and requires servicing! Inside the garage had. It been swept out for ages - dusty and not nice and clean! Upstairs in the living areas there is a damp smell. The furnishings are old and tired! The crockery and cutlery is mixed up and needs to be replaced! We only had the use of one tea towel for the whole time we were there! Surely we should have the use of say six tea towels? The beds need replacing as they are old and being wooden they creak and are noisey! The bathrooms are dark, dull and tired! Old fittings with disappointing showers! At least they did work! The pool was full of leaves and not exactly inviting!! The garden was in bad condition and needed some attention and care! There was no Wi Fi!! (can one believe this??? !!! So frustrating! Admittedly we should have known in advance! We assumed too much and forgot to check !!) really annoying! There were two small old and out of date TV's - so again we were disappointed as our Grandchildren like watching TV from time to time - esp when it is raining cats and dogs and they can't hit the beach! So all in all we cannot rate this apartment in it's current state any higher that 3/10! Disappointing outcome and not good value for money! The final nail in the coffin was the presence of the dreaded "Cockaroaches!" They were all over the place during the nights - bathrooms, living and kitchen areas!! It was disgusting and made one feel pretty uneasy!! We had two very young kids staying - so were exposed to that nasty feeling of the place being dirty!! Bad news really!

Needs some work and down upgrades
We chose this apartment because of its proximity to the beach and center of Byron town, and the location is convenient. The street traffic can be loud at times though. We knew it wasn't the most modern apartment, but what we found was well below par. no digital TV and in fact an ancient TV in main living area and master bedroom. The barbecue was in state of disrepair, the pool area and pool was dilapidated, and door to the pool wouldn't lock so the apartment wasn't secure . The lining was peeling off a couple of sofas. The shower faucets would be the cheapest on the market and oldest things installed and had zero water pressure. Kitchen pots, pans, and utensils were average. Even the toaster was broken. Oh, and no hair dryer provided. Above all, the agency Raine And Horne were not accomodating at all when we asked for a 1 hour late check out. We knew the property did not have incoming guests on our check out day, and yet incomprehensibly Raine & Horne said we couldn't check out an hour later than usual. We happened to be outside the apartment and we noted that two hours after our check out time the apartment remained empty - there were no cleaners, no owners, frustratingly an empty apartment. I don't see why it would have been such a problem offering late check out? Also, making the reservation via Raine & Horne was arduous to say the least, several phone calls not returned, emails not replied etc... Not simple and not a great booking experience. Overall I will NOT be recommending this apartment, not Raine & Horne Byron Bay to anyone I know
