Discover Whispering Palms, a beautifully preserved vintage beach home perfectly situated only 1½ blocks from the beach.
Lovingly restored, this spacious 6‑bedroom, 5‑bath home blends vintage character with modern convenience. Clapboard walls, painted floors, and curated vintage décor pair seamlessly with flat‑screen Smart TVs with cable and stainless‑steel appliances—truly the best of both worlds. Your stay here is a rare chance to experience an authentic piece of Tybee history.
One of the best features (there are too many to list!) is the beautiful yard and gardens featuring hydrangeas, old oaks, decks, a fire pit, a gazebo, lots of seating and gathering areas AND a private pool! Pool is 288 sq ft (12 x 24). The outdoor space of this beautiful home is a true oasis and is truly amazing!
Another awesome feature of this home is that it is pet-friendly; something we know many of our Mermaid guests will appreciate! A perfect home for large family gatherings, multi-family vacations, and girlfriend getaways! Bring the kids! Bring the parents! Bring the pets! Come enjoy one of the very best beach homes Tybee has to offer! A great beach rental for winter months; too cool to swim at the beach? Come hang out in the garden around the fire pit or sit and RELAX on the screened in porches!!
Here’s a few of the numerous details that make this home a true gem! Master King Suite on top floor with walk in shower and separate Jacuzzi plus its own private porch. Also located on the top floor is the 2nd, 3rd and 4th bedrooms. Bedroom #2 has a queen bed with private full bath (tub/shower combo), Bedroom #3 has a full bed and a twin bed with a full bath (tub/shower combo) and Bedroom #4 has a king bed with a shared bath.
Middle Level features a living area with 70-inch flat screen TV, dining area, kitchen and a porch off of the living area. Also a rear deck off of the kitchen/dining area features a table with seating for 4. There is also a front porch with seating for 2. The 5th and 6th bedrooms are also located on this level with the 5th bedroom featuring a queen bed with a shared full bath (tub/shower combo). 6th bedroom features a queen bed with a private full bath (tub/shower combo).
At the ground level, you will access the garden, private pool (NOTE: POOL IS HEATED) with seating for 10 or more plus a covered gazebo, fire pit, charcoal grill. There is a bath house at the pool area that includes a shower and full bath so guests do not have to access main house for bath accommodations. The main garden features multiple seating areas and umbrellas.

Girls Getaway

Outdoor / pool area was amazing. It is an older home with master bathroom updated beautifully. We spent most evenings on the main floor, screened, porch. Short walk to many shops, restaurants, and beach. We would definitely stay here again.

This house was perfect for our weekend girls trip! The corner lot was quiet and cozy. There was plenty of room for everyone and perfect location. The house was fantastic with more than enough place for our party of 10 as well as very conveniently located. The kitchen was well stacked with all tools required for a great Thanksgiving dinner. My entire party loved the charm of Whispering Palms. It was a comfortable, relaxed setting with everything we could need without leaving the property (well except for the beach!) Mermaid Cottages’ gals were great! They communicated with me many times prior to our trip to ensure we were fully prepared. And, touched base several times to make sure we had everything we needed.

One added bonus: the staff at Mermaid Cottages was terrific! Tammy made sure we were well taken care of and informed throughout our stay.
