Enjoyment from the first moment, and so close to all services of the abbey, now known as 'The Highland Club' ... the cloisters are leading around the inner garden to both, the HighlandClubLounge with a full-sized snooker table, towards the shores of Loch Ness & into the abbey gardens as well as into the atrium of the Abbey Church with pool, sauna & steam room in the former chapel with HighlandViews.
The apartment features luxury from the fluffy bathrobes to the washer-dryer...here its warm & cosy at any time of the year & the Boathouse Restaurant in the abbey grounds caters for you as well ... ENJOY now for a couple of days or weeks!

All facilities of The Highland Club available are included; like The Chapel Pool with sauna & steam room, The Club Lounge in the former refectory with full-sized snooker table, MiniGym, Tennis Court and so much more to explore!!!

A lovely wee oasis inside of an incredible property. The private garden, stained glass, and architectural detail of this unit are all tremendous & add to the overall serenity of a stay at The Highland Club. Couldn’t be easier to walk into the village and catch a Loch Ness Cruise or enjoy some shopping and a meal. Also, The Boathouse Restaurant (at the back of the club grounds, loch-side) is a hidden gem: the flavors coming out of their kitchen are 10/10. If historical & architectural details enhance your experience as a guest: this is the unit for you!

Great location

The location was perfect, a walk to the main street with food and shops. Apartment was very small quarters and the doors were difficult to lock and open. Unfortunately the dryer was not operational. The entire place was amazing and beautiful to walk around.

Very grateful guests found this place close to me heart amazing, perfect and beautiful to walk around. The whole abbey, now The Highland as an estate has so much to offer, from the most unique Chapel Pool with sauna and steam room to the sumptous Club Lounge in the former refectory of the monastery. The apartment is most cozy with even your own private inner courtyard garden, a real suntrap. Health and safety is high on my agenda and on the estate's, all doors of the apartment are self-closing fire doors to separate automaticall each part in the case of an fire. We are staying around every month at this place as our second home, so everything is working perfectly Abbey Management is at the guests disposal at any time during the day till late into the evening, 7 days a week. Simply enjoy a most unique place to stay in Bonnie Scotland, right at the shores of famous Loch Ness!

Cute little apartment in the abbey

This is a cute little apartment right in the Highlands Club, a former abbey. Great view out the back of the south shore of Loch Ness. Fort Augustus is a nice little quiet town but also a good place stay and branch out and see much of the countryside. Andreas is an excellent host and keeps the place nice and clean.

Staying at The Scriptorium Is a Must!

Our 6 day stay was nothing short of perfect. The Scriptorium is an amazing little apartment within a beauntiful and wonderful compound. We had every comfort of home right at our fingertips. The kitchen was fully stocked, the water pressure was perfect for showers, the bed was warm and comfy, wifi and cable were available, and being able to do laundry was great.

From the last-minute booking request by me – through the quiet moments of saying goodbye to this spectacular condominium and property – everything was absolutely perfect. Communication with the cheerful, thorough, and generous owner was a breeze, as was the communication with those who manage the property. The beauty of both the accommodation and property itself have to be seen to truly understand how utterly special this retreat space is. Without hesitation, highly recommended. Tips for Other Travellers: The Boathouse restaurant on the property has exemplary service and quite good food; I only visited there a couple of times, but the view itself makes it quite worthwhile. The condo's kitchen is lovely and completely outfitted. Although there was a nice selection at the village shop, I chose to make one trip to Inverness instead (the under-used "South Ness" route is divine!) and it worked a treat.

Tolles Ambiente, außergewöhnliche Unterkunft

Der achttägige Aufenthalt im "Scriptorium" war die "Krönung" unseres ersten Schottland-Urlaubs. Das Maisonette-Appartement in dem alten Kloster ist geschmackvoll und gemütlich eingerichtet. Es verfügt über viele liebevolle Details, ist komplett ausgestattet und sehr sauber und gepflegt. Das beeindruckende Ambiente der alten Klosteranlage bietet ständig neue Entdeckungen und Ausblicke. Die Lage direkt am Loch Ness ist ideal und bietet zahlreiche Möglichkeiten zu Wanderungen in der Nähe und zu Ausflügen. Sehenswürdigkeiten sind reichlich vorhanden. Wir haben uns absolut wohl gefühlt und können die Unterkunft uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Auch der Kontakt zum Vermieter war sehr freundlich und angenehm.

Die Anlage bietet einen ehrfürchtigen, spektakulären, romantischen und gleichzeitig einzigartigen Einblick in das Leben der damaligen Zeit. Unter dem Gesichtspunkt der Moderne ist es fantastisch gelungen, Altes und Neues miteinander zu verknüpfen. Das Scriptorium ist gemütlich, liebevoll und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Die Küche bietet alles, was man benötigt, um es sich zu zweit gut gehen zu lassen. Der Blick zum Loch Ness entschädigt auch für in Kauf genommene Regentage... Doreen

Einfach genial!

Die Bilder sagen einfach alles - super ausgestattetes Appartement mit Stil. Es ist alles vorhanden was man benötigt. Der Charme der Anlage ist einzigartig. Man kann viel Unternehmen - wir haben uns in Schottland verliebt - und werden definitiv wieder kommen - gerne auch ins Scriptorium! Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit!

Es ist in der Tat mein zweites Heim in Bonnie Scotland und -wie dieser Tage- freue ich mich sehr, auch mal 2 Nächte selbst dort verbringen zu dürfen. Das Wetter spielt bei all' den Angeboten in der ehemaligen Abtei -nun dem Highland Club- und in der näheren Umgebung keine so entscheidende Rolle...und auch damit ist es das perfekte Highland Retreat! Freue mich auf viele, so begeisterte Gäste...

Es freut mich natuerlich, dass es Gaesten ebenso gut wie mir selbst dort gefaellt...war unmittelbar vor diesen Gaesten selbst im SCRIPTORIUM und habe sehr den neuen ChapelPOOL mit Sauna & SteamRoom genutzt...einfach herrlich nach einem Tag in der wilden Natur der Highlands und einer steifen Brise vom Loch Ness!

Ein unvergesslicher Traumurlaub!

Mein Mann und ich waren Mitte August für eine Woche Gast im Scriptorium in Fort Augustus und sind immer noch ganz gefangen von den ausschliesslich positiven Eindrücken. Wo fängt man am besten an? Mit der Ferienwohnung selbst: Eine absolut liebenswert und sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtete Unterkunft mit besonderem Stil und Charme. Alles war pikobello in Ordnung und sehr sauber. Das Bett hat uns besonders gefallen .... eigentlich wie zu Hause - kuschelig und gemütlich. Wir haben sensationell gut geschlafen oben im "Türmchen". Die Küche ist vollständig eingerichtet und auch das Badezimmer lässt keine Wünsche offen. Schon bei der Buchung hatten wir einen sehr netten Kontakt mit dem Vermieter. Anfragen unsererseits wurden sofort beantwortet. Die Lage der Abtei am Ufer des Loch Ness ist wie ein schöner Film. Wir haben es so genossen, morgens, abends und wann immer Gelegenheit war, auf der Bank zu sitzen und zu entspannen. Die Umgebung bietet Wanderwege, interessante Orte zum Anschauen, wir sind bis Inverness mit dem Bus gefahren, was uns sehr gefallen hat und Fort Augustus selbst ist ein absolut charmanter Ort, schon allein wegen der Schleusen und den vielen kleinen und grösseren Booten die den Caledonian Canal rauf und runter fahren. Die Beschreibung des Scriptoriums haben unsere Erwartungen nicht nur erfüllt, sondern sogar übertroffen. Das gemütliche Zimmer des Highlandclubs mit dem Pooltisch, den Sofas und den wieder einmal so tollen Kunstfenstern lud abends oder bei Regen dazu ein gemütlich zu lesen oder auch den kostenlosen wifi-Zugang des Highland Clubs zu nutzen. Wir würden das Scriptorium-Appartement auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen, noch lieber würden wir es allerdings selbst ganzjährig bewohnen ;-) Restaurants und Pubs sind in Fort Augustus ebenfalls vorhanden ... eine Hand voll, aber wir haben überall - vor allem im Bothy und Lock Inn - gemütlich, ursprünglich und vor allem gut gegessen und getrunken. Die Bauarbeiten rund um die Abbey (auf die hinreichend hingewiesen wurde) haben uns zu keiner Zeit belästigt - im Gegenteil. Die Gänge waren sauber, und wir fühlten wohl und sicher trotz offener Türen am Tage - im Gegenteil: die friedliche Atmosphäre der Abtei hat uns immer ein gutes Gefühl vermittelt. Nachts waren die Türen verschlossen und Fort Augustus, Loch Ness und die Bewohner der Abbey schlummerten wohl alle friedlich ... wir jedenfalls auf jeden Fall. Wir freuen uns schon auf unseren nächsten Besuch und sagen herzlichen Dank

Das freut natuerlich den SCRIPTORIUM-Besitzer sehr...es ist auch fuer mich selbst an den wenigen freien Tagen im Jahr ein Genuss dort zu sein...die Ruhe der Abtei faengt mich immer sofort ein und laesst leicht die weite Welt vergessen! Moegen viele Gaeste des Scriptorium Apartments hier ein UrlaubsHeim finden...
