About this property
Charming steading conversion in rural Scotland. Self catering, sleeps 6.
Ballinduin Bothy is located midway between the delightful Perthshire towns of Pitlochry and Aberfeldy and about one mile from the picturesque villages of Strathtay and Grandtully which straddle the river Tay. Built in the latter half of the 19th century, the Bothy was converted approximately 50 years ago, underwent a full refurbishment in 2014 and is finished to a high standard. There are truly stunning views from the lounge windows and garden to the south and west up the Tay valley towards Aberfeldy. Visiting wildlife comprise a host of birds and resident families of red squirrels as well as stoats, hares, rabbits and an occasional deer.
You will be ideally situated to explore Highland Perthshire, visit the many local attractions and take part in a host of varied activities. These include water sports on the river Tay and loch Tay, walking at any degree of difficulty from a stroll along the Tay to scaling the heights of Ben Lawers, cycling on the many local tracks or a round of golf at the 9 hole course in Strathtay. The Birks cinema in Aberfeldy and the Festival theatre in Pitlochry are close enough to take in a show in the evenings and there are numerous restaurants, shops and pubs in these towns. In Strathtay itself, there is a small grocer/post office and in Grandtully a pub/restaurant, a hotel and famous prize winning chocolatier.
The Accommodation is on one level and comprises lounge with wood burner, kitchen/diner, 3 double bedrooms including a twin room, each with an ensuite shower/toilet and there is a separate utility room with butler sink and washing machine. Outside, there is ample parking in the courtyard and an enclosed south west facing rear garden with lockable garden shed and 2 sunny patio areas together with garden furniture for al fresco dining. A Gas fired BBQ is available as well as a stock of wood if required for the wood burner. There are stunning views from the garden. Central Heating and hot water are supplied by biomass boiler free of charge. The Electricity is metred but the first £30 pounds worth is free of charge for a weekly stay, pro rata for other stays. Drinking water is provided by a Private water supply from the hill and is monitored by Perth and Kinross council environmental services for quality and safety purposes. Bed linen and towels are provided for all guests and there is a Cot and High chair available on request. Basic Sky Freeview is available as well as an internet connection via Wi-Fi an approximate 8mbs download speed. We supply a Welcome pack on arrival so guests have enough for a snack and breakfast prior to any shopping trips. Bookings are taken on a weekly basis from Saturday to Saturday high season but shorter stays of 3 nights or more are considered during the autumn and winter months. The Bothy is available from 4:00 pm on the day of arrival and guests are expected to vacate the property by 10 am on the day of departure.
