Joshua Tree Desert Duo - B

Desert Air Zen is a contemporary and peaceful retreat where you can relax and unwind. Within short walking distance to all the hot spots in Joshua Tree, farmers market, shops, galleries and restaurants including the famous Joshua Tree Saloon. You will be a ten minute drive to the Joshua Tree National Park entrance.

THE SPACE

Desert Air Zen is a modern, peaceful, restful space with all the comforts of home. This is one of two duplex units separated by two garages so there is plenty of privacy. Newly remodeled with all new appliances, polished concrete floors, modern concrete shower, comfy beds with all cotton sheets and plush carpet. You will be close enough to town to walk, yet it feels private and quiet. All diversity is welcome!

GUEST ACCESS

You have access to the whole house, all to yourself. Garage space is not available to guests but there is off street parking right in front of the building. Self check in gives you flexibility and ease. You will be sent a code to the electronic keypad.

Kitchen was equipped with basic items, which was fine for us, as we did not do any cooking. Fresh ground coffee and coffee maker were great for getting the mornings started. There was a cooler and large ice pack, which were perfect for storing items while we hiked! Propane fire pit and furniture were comfortable in the cooler evenings. Enjoyed dinner at 2 places within walking distance- Saloon and Sky High Pie. We stayed Tuesday- Friday; there may have been other options open on the weekends. Yucca Valley has an Aldi and Walmart for groceries. There are also plenty of restaurants, bars and shops in Yucca Valley.

Five miles to the west entrance of Joshua Tree national park. Near to fast food places. Sunrise from the premises is beautiful. Basic pans and pots, cooking oil and some spices are there. Wish there were some aluminum foil or parchment paper or something would have helped.

What an amazing and peaceful place to get away from the chaos of LA. Had everything we needed to cook a healthy meal and the space is very well laid out. Love the fire pit outside and the openness of the space, both inside and out. I will definitely return to this location next time I need to breakaway.

Our party of three stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. While the property initially appeared spacious and beautiful, the longer we were there, the more problems we saw. Bedrooms: One twin bed frame collapsed onto my friend’s ankles because the legs were not secured in their locks. Two out of three beds had worn, heavily pilled flannel sheets. There was hardly any drawers and only two hangers in each closet, forcing us to live out of luggage. The pillows were flat, and at checkout, we discovered prominent sweat stains on them.Bathroom: The door does not lock, and the soap dispenser was broken. Only two face towels were provided for three guests. The sink basin is separating from the wall, causing items to slide off. Alarmingly, the shower drain functions poorly; given the local septic system, the slow drainage raised serious hygiene concerns regarding standing water.Privacy is severely compromised. In the living room two separate rods were used instead of one long rod for the window. The curtains weren’t wide enough, which created a center gap that the hosts improperly attempted to remedy with a makeshift third sheer panel. ALL doors—including the front door and the bathroom—have frosted glass panels, which fails to provide adequate visual privacy.Misc.: The provided coffee, sugar, and creamer were stale and kept in soiled containers. We also noted peeling paint, cold concrete flooring, and unmaintained landscaping. Though manageable for a brief trip, we will not return.
