About the host
Hosted by Robert & Mary Smith
I'm Robert Smith, my wife's name is Mary. We both live in Alaska; I've been here for about 31 years! Mary's been here for 9 years. She is a school teacher here in our small town. I'm retired and love working on all things mechanical. I work with engines, from big trucks to small cars, and buy and sell equipment and vehicles on the side. Mary is a teacher and loves to paint. We also love to travel and hope you do too. We very much want you to enjoy our cabin in your travels! Also, we want you to contact us for any needs; but at the same time we want you to have plenty of privacy!
Why they chose this property
We are located in Alaska's Interior- Denali Borough. The drive up the Parks Highway from Anchorage is one of the most beautiful drives in Alaska. See Mt. Denali, (formerly known as Mt. McKinley), pass into Cantwell, AK, a little known remote Alaskan town, known for rich Indian heritage, hunting, & Class A: snow-machining in Winter! Alaskans drive and camp from all over the state in winter, for this reason only! Aspen Retreat is conveniently located between Denali National Park and Fairbanks, Alaska, a perfect hide-away, remote, yet with all the amenities needed for comfort, easily accessible, and still on the main road system.
What makes this property unique
Our property began as an airplane hanger! With the help of my wife, Mary, we began to renovate it, simply, but we hope you'll like it! She loves to create and paint, so you'll find her art on some of the walls. It's come a long way, and there's still more we'd like to do; we'd love to know your thoughts and recommendations!
