Log cabin 'Aurora' is set in the beautiful mountain area of Ylläs; Finland's number 1 ski resort. With a setting high above the Arctic Circle, the guaranteed snow throughout the skiing season makes for a perfect winter holiday. Ylläs has that special combination of peace and tranquility, yet all the winter activities you would expect from snow boarding to husky sledging and of course beginners and advanced skiing facilities. We have always enjoyed travelling, and we realised that as parents, the best quality self catering accommodation for families was for us better than a stay in a hotel. Over the years we have found the best and worst experiences of staying in owners properties and we have drawn on all this history to ensure everyone who stays with us has the best holiday possible.

Why they chose this property

We love Scandinavia in general but Finland is a great country. The people and culture are so warm and welcoming. After many years of holidaying in the area we decided to buy in Finnish Lapland. The scenery is stunning and Akaslompolo is a picturesque, traditional, Lappish village. The air and lakes are clean and there is so much to do, Winter and Summer.

What makes this property unique

Our Kelo Log cabin is in an exclusive development situated close to the centre of the village but in a lovely forest setting. We have tried to make our house a home from home with little extras like children's toys and DVDs which can make all the difference.
