Old Harbour Masters house. So it does need some maintenance. Stay was okay, bed next to kitchen not that comfortable. Had a washer but not clothes dryer. The view was amazing and location was great, only a few minutes to downtown Fort William.

Thanks for staying and your comments. Victorian era houses always need maintenance. It never ends!
I am always seeking ways to increase the sustainability of my business and reduce energy consumption, which is why I removed the tumble drier. As ever, I regularly review the balance between guests desire for convenience and the cost to the business and planet.

You stayed in a property that I had just spent £13000 on new glazing and other improvements, for a price cheaper than any of the bunk houses or Youth Hostel could provide for a similar group. Sorry I could not meet your expectations on this occasion.

Poor communication
We never got an email with the code for the key safe. Contacted VRBO and was on hold for ages. I was given the phone number for the owner who we phoned and he contacted us back after some time. He gave us the code and was apologetic but still waiting for up date from yourselves. We got into the property some 2 hours late which wasn't a good start to our break.
Communication had been good to this part.
Accommodation suited us and great location. Would use again for a group of lads
Found this accommodation very well situated. Could not ask for more in the house. Everything you could ever need and views amazing. Five adults and so much room to move around. Would definitely recommend.
Exactly what we needed for a 3-Night trip to cover places on the West Coast
Easy to drive to Skye, Glenfinnan, Shipwreck of Corpach, Eilean Donan etc and an easy walk to both Tesco Express and Morrison’s
House was well stocked with everything we needed and was perfectly located for walking around Fort William
View from the balcony was stunning
Great location, short walk into main street and train station. Easy parking and access. Great lounge area and views. Well equipped kitchen. Beds were a little firm for some. Bunk room would not be suited for older kids. Was perfect for our family group.
What a fabulous place to stay, could not fault this place. Excellent location in Fort William, comfy beds, fabulous views, will be recommending this place to friends and family.

We were surprised at the lay out of the apartment - more information and photos required
It was okay - more dilapidated than we
It was okay - could do with freshening up - we would give it 3 stars
Really good stay. There are a lot of stairs. Best views in town from upper deck. Super convenient location to walking area, train, library, supermarket, pubs, etc. Ample easy and safe parking. Slightly hard to locate. It might help to send a picture or put a flag on the hedge or something. Downstairs Entry holds an odor of past wetness but the upstairs apartment is fine. I am very sensitive and concerned at first but up the steps it isn’t noticeable. I love all the doors on all the rooms-even the kitchen. It allows you to change temperatures for each area quickly. Kitchen is well stocked for all needs. 3rd floor den has a treasure trove library for the area which was really helpful. Bedrooms were plentiful and comfortable. Wish our party was bigger, we didn’t use 2 of the bedrooms. We noticed the long counter upstairs in den with power outlets which would make a great place to do work if you need to work while you are away. We were very satisfied with our stay, our communication with Nick, check in, cleanliness was great, value and especially the view. We were only sad our stay wasn’t longer. 2 days weren’t enough for all the outdoors activities. Steal Falls were amazing.
This is a difficult review because my family had such varying opinions. This would be great for a youth group. The previous reviewers pointed out many of the features such as great location, plenty of cooking supplies, and an awesome view. We were looking for a break from hotels in our journey. The property allowed us to spread out, cook some meals, and wash clothes. This is not a fancy place, but more improved than the pictures show. It’s clean, but does have a strong mildew smell that you can quickly eliminate by opening windows. There was no clothes dryer, which was a huge disappointment for us. But 2 issues genuinely need resolution and hopefully will be addressed quickly. The master bed was comfortable. But the beds in the twin room were not usable, maybe a box spring and not a mattress? Our daughter ended up in the sofa so she slept neither night. The hot water heater for shower was also broken and required a game of chance as to what temperature would come out. There is a bathtub on the top level which helped.
My son had his own cozy nook so he lived his stay. The WiFi, TV and cable were excellent. There are interesting displays and area information available. Parking is easy.
I would recommend this place with caveats hoping that the beds and hot water are fixed soon.

The views are unbelievable and it was warm and spacious. A fantastic place for our stay.
This is a spacious and lovely place. Kitchen has all you need and the roof lounge is spectacular. Within walking distance to the train if you're going on the Jacobite train. Shops nearby and all activities at your door step. Good parking and lots of space in rooms. I would recommend this as a place for families or groups on holiday plus a romantic getaway using the ensuite bedroom in the lounge. We have had a fabulous stay.

About the host
Hosted by Nick Ferguson
I first visited Fort William in 1979 kayaking & to do Ben Nevis. Been going ever since, mainly for walking, climbing & mountaineering. I bought the apartment from a mountaineering & business buddy. If I cant live there then I would like as many other people as possible to enjoy what Fort William & its surrounds has to offer.
Why they chose this property
There's only so many times you can visit one place before it becomes logical to have a permanent base at that location. The apartment has benefited from extensive modernisation work. The latest investments include Solar Thermal panel, LED downlighters and double glazed units to replace the original wooden sash windows.
What makes this property unique
Walking, climbing, mountaineering, biking. Everyday you get different views & conditions. Love relaxing late afternoon, sitting upstairs on the balcony looking out over the Loch. Even better with a glass of wine!
