We had an excellent holiday, the accommodation was exactly like the photos, the pool and view even better than the photos!! Paul helped us with finding places to visit and recommend places to eat. Overall an excellent place to stay, we will be back!

Amazing from start to finish!

Our stay at Paul's place was absolutely amazing, from start to finish. We loved the house, the views, the peace and quiet. Paul was a great host, and able to give us lots of advice about the local area. We loved the local walking, and can't wait to go back next year.

Rural rustic and remote Spanish holiday home

This is a lovely rustic converted farmhouse in the Spanish hills between A Caniza and Arbo near the Portuguese border. It has a lovely swimming pool with stunning views down the valley. Paul is a friendly and accommodating host. Thoroughly recommended holiday house. Note: Access is steep.

This house was remote, although we were aware of that before we went. But that was also part of its beauty as it was so calm and peaceful, save for some local wildlife noise in the mornings! The house was well appointed, everything worked and when a bedroom fan broke it was replaced immediately. Unless you just want to go for a walk in the surrounding area, you do have to drive everywhere, but we were happy to explore Galicia region that way. And on days we didn't, we were very happy by the pool and BBQing. Paul and Lisa were lovely and incredibly helpful hosts, and we'd wholeheartedly recommend their lovely house.

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely property. Paul met us to show us around and was very kind and helpful with any queries we had. He is very knowledgeable about the area.The view from the pool is fantastic. It was very hot during our stay so it was used every day! The house has a few different seating areas so there is always some shade available. The area has lots to see and do. We spent two days exploring the nearby Portuguese national park, and caught a train up to Santiago de Compostela for a day trip. It was a very relaxing place to stay and we would definitely book it again if returning to the area. Thank you Paul.

Perfect Stay in Galicia

When you love quietness, this is the place to be. We loved the classic brick house with an english twist. Warm welcome by Paul. Every question was easily answered. As we love visiting cities and nature, we visited Porto, SAntiago, Cies Islands, Ourense, Melgacao. We visited soalheiro winery, did rafting (recommended by Paul) , walked along the minho river ( lovely walk). On the way to from Belgium we passed by Leon, Bernados Reales and Los Medulas. Worthwile. On the way back, we did Picos de Europa and Bilbao! . We had a perfect time at the pool with the gorgeous view.

Tranquilidad y descanso

Hemos pasado una semana en la casa de Paul y solo podemos decir cosas buenas. La casa está en un lugar precioso entre árboles y con unas vistas increíbles. La casa está llena de comodidades y detalles, incluso Paul, que estuvo siempre pendiente de todo, nos dejó una botella de vino de la zona de bienvenida. Sin duda, volveremos, ya toda nuestra familia y nuestra perra , hemos pasado un gran semana. Muchas gracias Paul!! ☺️

Wonderful location and perfect Villa

Family of 5, 3 adult sons 18-23 yrs. Firstly the location…on a beautiful hillside and private. 10 minute drive to A Caniza, depending on how you drive 20-30 mins to Portugal. Lots to do in the area: golf and white water rafting we enjoyed. Trips to the beach…playa americas near Vigo our favourite and went there twice. The Villa was perfect for our needs. The pool was beautiful and a great size. I always look for a slightly larger pool for my three boys and their water volleyball games. Plenty of shade in this area if you needed it. Shower, Sun beds, parasol and table and chairs were well maintained. We enjoyed the Chess, Boules and the badminton as well. Wifi strong enough for our needs. Sky Tv (free view channels). The lounge was comfortable with a great view. The 3 bedrooms (all ensuite) were comfortable and clean. The kitchen was spotless and maintained well. We had a BBQ almost every other day and enjoyed that too. All in all we had a wonderful time. Thank you Paul for everything. Communication was great from the start of our journey. Helped us many times with your knowledge of the area with great recommendations and bookings for us. Nothing was too much trouble and we greatly appreciated your help. You live in a beautiful part of the world and we could all feel your passion for it and left feeling rather envious.

UNA CASA PERFECTA

Hemos pasado una semana en A Portela y ha sido perfecto. El entorno es la PAZ, ideal para relajarse, la piscina, el jardín, la vegetación, los frutales, todo muy cuidado. La casa espectacular, enorme, muy limpia, cuidada hasta el más mínimo detalle, con un gusto exquisito, los colchones y almohadas muy cómodas, hemos dormido como hacía tiempo no dormíamos. Ropa de cama más que suficiente para cualquier cambio de temperatura. El tener cada dormitorio su propio baño en suite proporciona mucha privacidad. El menaje de cocina con todo lo necesario y más. Y qué decir del propietario Paul? Muy atento, pendiente en todo momento de que no nos faltase nada, detalle de bienvenida incluído, además ha confeccionado una guía de actividades y gastronomía de la zona muy completa que nos ha sido de gran ayuda. Han sido unos días perfectos. Totalmente recomendable el alojamiento. Deseando volver. Gracias por todo Paul!!!

Una estancia inolvidable

Espectacular. Hemos estado diez días en la casa y se nos ha hecho cortísimo. La casa es una maravilla, la verdad es que no se le puede poner ninguna pega, la zona de la piscina es la que más disfrutamos, con mucho terreno y una piscina bien grande. La atención de Paul, (el anfitrión) ejemplar, la comunicación con el, es inmediata, y a parte cada dos o tres días pasa para la limpieza de la piscina. La zona anima a disfrutar de la naturaleza, justo al lado de la casa comienza una ruta muy bonita para quien le guste. Y a parte tienes infinidad de cosas que ver o hacer, y siempre necesitaras más tiempo para ello. Sin ninguna duda volveremos.

Conocemos Galicia de otros veranos, pero siempre quedan rincones,pueblos y paisajes que se quedarán grabados para siempre en nuestra retina.La casa donde nos hemos alojado en A Cañiza , espectacular por su entorno,gusto en su decoración,amplia,muy limpia,con unas vistas inmejorables, con rutas bellísimas para quienes les guste el senderismo y disfrutar de la naturaleza .Paul es una persona encantadora,preocupado de que todo estuviese al detalle y perfecto.Muy recomendable para disfrutar y descansar con la familia.La ubicación además muy buena para ir a diferentes lugares como Vigo, Pontevedra,Islas Cíes , además de los diferentes pueblecitos cercanos a la casa.Por todo ello se merece la calificación máxima de matrícula de honor.

Casa A Cañiza

La casa perfecta, únicamente se echa de menos el lavaplatos, pero es fácil de limpiar y recoger. Para un finde no importa. Quizás un microondas, y una cacerola un poco más grande para cocer productos para muchas se quedan un poco pequeñas. Pero hemos estado fenomenal. Gracias .

Tranquilidad

Ha sido un fin de semana de tranquilidad y relax. Paul es un hombre muy cercano, amable y se ha preocupado porque nos sintiéramos como en nuestra casa. La casa tiene unos detalles muy bonitos, está muy limpia , tiene un montón de libros, una piscina estupenda ubicada en una zona rodeada de árboles que te dan intimidad. Hay rutas de senderismo por la zona. Estupenda y muy recomendable para desconectar.

Experiencia increíble

Nuestra estancia en Casa A Portela ha sido de 10. La casa y el entorno son espectaculares y se nota que están muy bien cuidados. Estuvimos allí dos días y de lo único que nos arrepentimos es de no haber estado más. Paul no podría haber sido mejor anfitrión: nos dejó todo lo necesario, fue muy atento y muy paciente, ya que llegamos dos horas más tarde de lo previsto y no nos puso ninguna pega. Sin duda repetiremos, nos hemos quedado enamorados de la casa, el entorno y de Paul.

A Caniza - a great place at which to enjoy Galicia

The property is in a quiet rural location with stunning views across the country. The house is comfortable and the facilities are good. The garden and pool catch the sun, and like the house have lovely views. Paul who manages the house is friendly and welcoming and full of useful information about the area and can source good local wine from a vineyard he knows. A great house for a relaxing break.

Wonderful property and location.

We loved staying in this property - so well equipped, quiet and full of character. The location was great - with stunning views and handy for Spain or Portugal (the National Park there is amazing). It was so peaceful, but a car is essential. Paul and Lisa were great hosts and very helpful, with good ideas for things to do.
