This place was spectacular and in a lovely location! Kim and Bob were very friendly and helpful as our live-on property (and homeowner) hosts. The sweet cottage (ADU) was well appointed, clean and spacious...Also dog friendly with a very spacious yard. What more could you ask for?
Warm, comfortable place for guests and very responsive and considerate hosts. Thank you for hosting our friends from across the country and making their visit such a wonderful time.
Wonderful 3 month stay while attending a course in Port Townsend. The cottage offered me a warm refuge during the fall and winter months. Hosts Bob and Kim are gracious and kind. I wholeheartedly recommend staying here and will do so again if I need to stay in PT. Just on the edge of town, I enjoyed my walks into town, and also on the roads and trail system heading out of town further. Very pastoral settings very close, as well as walkable to town. Thank you Bob and Kim for welcoming me into your very special backyard oasis and cottage.
Accommodations were very comfortable and met my expectations. Location in shady neighborhood and easy parking and resident access and safety made it fee like home the first days there Great location fir biking around PT
We were happily based in port Townsend as we explored the Olympic peninsula. Our hosts we friendly and most helpful with suggestions for us to make our stay enjoyable.
We stayed here while waiting to move into the house we purchased in the area. Heat location (easy access to uptown but in a quiet neighborhood with lots of beautiful walksin nature). Wonderful hosts!!
A perfect winter, long-term stay in this cozy, comfortable super-cute cottage.
Thoughtfully appointed with style! Everything is provided. A wonderful fully equipped kitchen with gas stove, spacious living area with comfortable seating and hide-a-bed. Lovely bedrooms and perfectly clean baths with pretty linens, comfy pillows and mood lighting. A skylight and many windows provide natural light and delightful views. Birds galore for your entertainment!
The quiet wooded neighborhood affords privacy, while the warm sincere hospitality of Bob & Kim makes you feel at home.
Beautiful location for walking, biking around town and convenient for connecting to activities on the Olympic Peninsula and beyond. A real sweet find!
We truly enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage and would highly recommend it!
We stayed at this adorable two bedroom, two bath cottage for several months while looking to buy our retirement home in Port Townsend. Bob and Kim, the owners, were so kind and helpful that our stay with our little dog was a joy. We loved this two story ADU so much that we plan on building the same layout on our new property. We really lucked out renting this special spot. It is located in a quiet neighborhood 5 minutes by car to the center of town or 20 min walk. There is plenty of private outdoor space and Kim's garden is exceptional. Bird life is abundant here, so sitting with a cup of anything watching them in the backyard is a treat in its self. If this is available rent it. They allow a dog and the hosts are so respectful of your space you will feel like you are already home, we did! Thank you Kim and Bob, we truly loved staying in the "Birdhouse"!

Exceptional Cottage, Accomodating Hosts
We spent the month of June in this well designed, comfortable cottage. The aesthetics of the backyard forested setting exceeded our expectations.
As older but active seniors, Port Townsend offered many easy and enjoyable walking opportunities, Fort Worden being the best example. We enjoyed the nautical views of the downtown area and the many cafes available.
Olympic National Park is nearby for more serious hikers. The recreational opportunities in this area are many to say the least, with an outstanding cottage to return to at the end of the day. Thank you Kim and Bob for offering this accommodation.
Highly recommended.

Excellent medium-term stay in Port Townsend
We were lucky to have stayed at Bob and Kim's cottage for some five weeks recently. Their compact but surprisingly spacious home is comfy, cozy, clean, quiet and well-equipped. Though the house is located within the city limits of Port Townsend, it can feel like a cabin in the woods. You can walk or bike miles in any direction and hardly have to cross a road. Always made to feel welcome, we felt more like neighbors than short-term tenants. Bravo, and thank you!

Beautiful Bird House!
We could not have been happier here. The Owners are wonderfully hospitable and gracious. The home is beautifully outfitted and provides a terrific spot to unwind and commune with nature. My husband and I would go back in a minute and will refer our friends!

Perfect location to relax.
We spent a wonderful three weeks here. The setting is peaceful, the cottage is immaculate and well-appointed. The radiant heating was so welcome on chilly days. We loved the beautiful gardens and watching the birds and squirrels. The owners were very hospitable.

About the host
Hosted by Kim Rafferty
We have lived in Port Townsend for over 20 years and raised our family here. We have travelled the world and believe that Port Townsend is one of the finest spots on earth...a great community surrounded by incredible beauty.
Why they chose this property
We built this house with the intention that our son with Down Syndrome would make it his home. But being the social character that he is, he lives with a group of his friends in a group home (1% of the rental fee is contributed to the non-profit, Olympic Neighbors, www.olympicneighbors.org that runs the home). The house is private but close to everything one needs.
What makes this property unique
Lots of trails close by that are good for walking or bicycling. It is quiet and peaceful with incredible night sky viewing on clear nights.
