Heron’s Nest, with a lovely private garden and use of The Ndoro Pool.
A fabulous cottage, lovingly designed, to created a 'home from home feeling'. A private, south facing garden with stunning views, The woodlands and fields hold an abundance of wildlife and birdlife all of which can be viewed from the property.. Heron's Nest is situated down a quiet lane, 3 miles from the famous town of Royal Wootton Bassett. There are plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants to enjoy. Please be advised changeover days are Mondays and Fridays.
THE NDORO POOL Swimming in the Ndoro Pool, is the most beautiful, memorable experience. The pool has no heating or chemicals, therefore completely natural. Plants, dragonflies, newts, water mussels are some of the wildlife that live happily in the ecosystem. Working with nature and maintaining the biodiversity of the pool is absolutely essential. Although rare, this can mean pool closure, we don't know when it will happen, or indeed, how long it will take to restore the 'natural normal balance'. We trust you understand.

Lovely property with stunning views. We loved the pool and Hillary made us feel very welcome. Whole house is comfortable and homely, the kitchen is well equipped. Lots of great places to visit nearby.
What a beautiful place! We were made so welcome and it was comfortable, quiet, great views and the pool was an added bonus. A great base for exploring Wiltshire and the Cotswolds. Peaceful secure garden for the dog. We will certainly return.
Hilary was very welcoming and showed us around on our arrival. The cottage was lovely, well equipped and comfortable. The garden though small was pretty and our dog loved pottering around. Though we went out every day, the cottage was so comfortable and tranquil, it would be lovely enough to just stay there and chill out for our stay. Close enough to visit all that the Cotswold has to offer. We had a lovely time, thanks Hilary!

We had a great long weekend at Heron’s Nest. Hilary welcomed us upon arrival and showed us around. The property is lovely, very clean and well maintained. It is in a quiet, rural location, but still only a few minutes drive from all the amenities in Royal Woodson Basset. It is perfect for walks and exploring Wiltshire and Somerset. I would definitely recommend.
Heron’s nest is a piece of heaven. Absolutely beautiful location with wild deer, rabbits and horses just across the fence. Hilary was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed for a perfect stay. The cottage is perfect with everything you need to feel at home. The pool is absolutely the icing on the cake. Set in a magnificent bardo and totally natural. The whole experience was perfect. We went to lake 32 for a swim meet days and had delicious meals at Foxham and the 3 crowns. Can’t recommend it highly enough. Our dog absolutely loved it too. Thank you Hilary for a lovely birthday break.

A great home away from home!
We really enjoyed staying at Herons Nest. It was really close to everything we wanted to see in the Cotswolds. It was clean and had everything we needed. We enjoyed watching the horses in the morning.
Hillary is very helpful if you need anything.
Even though you are in close proximity to the main house, our privacy was totally respected.
I highly recommend this property!
Thanks Hillary for a great stay!

Hillary was absolutely amazing at accommodating our ever changing situation. The cottage was truly stunning with the garden and views adding to us making memories. The Lodge was perfect in every sense, beautifully decorated and equipped for our every need. Peaceful and tranquil does not do it justice. We will be back to escape and unwind. Thank you again for supporting us through everything.

Had a great 4 nights at Heron's Nest. The cottage is beautifully furnished with a very well equipped kitchen. Beautiful countryside location with pheasant and deer in the surrounding fields . South facing garden is lovely for barbequing in the evening or just sitting and enjoying the sunshine. We visited Bath, Cirencester, Chedworth Roman Villa , Silbury Hill and Avebury. Ed was a great host, welcoming us to the property and then sorting out our initial lack of wifi within 10 minutes. It was our 25th wedding anniversary on the day we arrived and Hilary had left a vase of red roses, a card and a chilled bottle of prosecco for us to celebrate, which was a lovely touch. Thank you Hilary. We would definitely stay at Heron's Nest again if we return to the area in the future.

Ahh - thank you for your kind words, I’m so pleased you had a wonderful stay. Hope to see you here again xx
Myself, my wife and our 2 dogs stayed at Heron's Nest over the Easter bank holiday weekend. We were looking for somewhere we could have a relaxed long weekend of picturesque dog walks and not much else - which is exactly what we got.
Heron's Nest is in a great location; a quiet spot with the rural countryside on your doorstep, but close enough to pretty market towns like Chippenham, Malmesbury, Tetbury, etc.
The property itself has everything you need for a weekend/week away from home, so you can pack light. There is even a natural/wild swimming pool to awaken the senses .... even on a warm early April afternoon the water was freezing but invigorating!
The communication from Hilary leading up to our stay was great and she was very welcoming and friendly on our arrival. The fridge was stocked with a bottle of wine and apple juice, which was a nice touch.
All in all, Heron's Nest ticked all the boxes for what we wanted and we're planning to book again for future.

Loved it!!!
Mega herziges Häuschen - klein und fein mit Garten und Allem was man sich wünschen kann!!
Super liebe Gastgeber - die einfach bei Allem helfen! Danke Hillary and Nik for everything!
My husband & I had a wonderful seven night stay at the delightful Herons Nest. It is in such a picturesque location & everything one could want for in a country cottage. Nothing was too much trouble for Hillary (the owner ) who made our stay just perfect & we loved every minute of being there. We even had deer out in the surrounding fields, which was lovely to see as we were having breakfast at the large kitchen window. We would love to return one day & highly recommend it. Thank you Hillary. ++++

About the host
Hosted by Hillary Walter
We are a family of 5 who have have recently renovated and extended our home and cottage. We love being outside and enjoy gardening. We have a small holding consisting of a variety of chickens, pigs, sheep and two ponies!!
I enjoy making jams, chutneys, cakes etc. Nick (my husband) has just bought a Smoker for fish and meat and has been experimenting with that!
Understandably, our friends call us Tom and Barbara!!
Why they chose this property
We bought Burrington because of its location. We are situated down a very quiet lane surrounded by fields with a view of Tockenham wood, which has Tockenham Lake within it. You could hardly believe we're only 2 miles from Royal Wootton Bassett and therefore have easy access to the M4 - which makes Heron's Nest an easy to get to retreat!!
What makes this property unique
There are plenty of wonderful things to experience whilst staying at Heron's Nest. Most notably the Natural Swimming Pool! A fabulous experience which people come back for! There are wonderful walks in and around us. Plenty of fabulous and interesting towns and cities to visit, Bath, Oxford, Marlborough, Bristol, Castle Combe and the Cotswolds are all within an hours drive
The property itself is well equipped - I have tried to create a home from home kitchen. The sitting room has all the normal appliances one would expect plus a variety of games.
