This was such a a lovely spot and great hosts! Rick and Sabrina were very warm and welcoming. The space was clean and the patio area outside is a peaceful spot for morning coffee. The space is equipped for cooking as well if you prefer that over takeout .
Made our stay in Maine very comfortable and convenient for being first time visitors in the state. Had everything we needed.

The Nest is a beautiful place. It was very cozy, equiped, organized, and most importantly clean.
The Communicatio was great even though I did not need anything.
It has a lot of space and a nice kitchen if you don't feel like eating out.
Thank you!
Rick and Sabrina‘s place was a great spot for us to stay while exploring Acadia and the surrounding areas. It was clean, comfortable and close to restaurants, shops, …. It felt like away from home.
Very cute and perfect for a weeks stay! Just enough room for 2 people. Renters were super friends and communicate very well

We are so pleased that the apartment met your needs for a quick stay. Our other apartment and the full FarmHouse are much larger....Hope you try one of them the next time!

This trip was all about relaxation after two years without a vacation. The place felt like home away from home—cozy, warm, and comfortable, with restful nights. My dog loved it right away, and I felt truly welcomed.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The apartment was private, clean and perfectly located. We had everything we needed including some surprise eggs from the chickens who roam around the property. Rick and Sabrina were excellent hosts. Thank you again for a wonderful time.
This cute apartment right on the main coastal highway is in a great location (6 miles from Belfast, ~20 miles from Camden, etc) for exploring all Maine has to offer. The size is perfect for one or two people to be very comfortable in a "home away from home." For longer stays (I stayed 2 weeks), there is a laundromat about 5 miles away that is large, clean and very efficient.
We enjoyed our stay in this small but very functional apartment. There are quite a few stairs inorder to enter which was no problem for us however, someone with mobility issues should avoid. Great location on Route 1 along the midcoast. Nice trails across the road for our dog which go to the ocean. Thank you!! Would stay again.
A nice place, with a comfortable bed. Lots of stairs but we had no problem with them. Do wish there had been some sugar.coffee for the 1st day or two. Nice kitchen. It doe get very dark and finding the driveway was tough, solar lights or reflective signs could be very helpful. Nice location, pleasant stay.
My husband and I stayed for about 2 weeks. The hosts were super helpful and were available whenever we had a question. The location afforded us daily jaunts to hiking, biking, and kayaking. We especially liked the proximity of Sandy Beach for our evening swim. Entry has an outside stairway that's may be tough for those who are not steady on their feet. But it suited us well.

Glad you enjoyed your stay! Hope to see you again in the future!
This place is the perfect spot to be centrally located to everything we wanted to do/see. Loved staying here. It had everything and more that we needed. Each day we ventured out with our pups to explore the areas and came back to a place of complete rest and relaxation. We even enjoyed sitting in the lawn chairs and watching the traffic go by. Yes! Go get some lobster from a local place up the road and make your own lobster rolls and even breakfast. Yummmmmm. Can't wait till we are able to stay again. Thank you so much for your beautiful and comfortable place to stay.
property was cental in location, air conditioner was not properly cooling and no instructional book on use of ac or use of tv. Could have used a notebook from the owner explaining the operation of these things.

Thanks for the suggestion on having a "how to" book for guest reference. We will ensure that happens before next year's opening.
Was a decent place - the refrigerator wasn’t on when we got there and didn’t realize it until the morning and we had done a lot of shopping. Kitchen wasn’t very well stocked compared to other places we stayed. There was no book recommending restaurants or other things to do in the area. Encountered a few roaches. Still would recommend.

Since you were the first guest for the season I want to thank you for taking time to comment and I've passed on your review to housekeeping. In he 10 years of ownership we have never had an issue with roaches and find that unacceptable. We have a Home Defence contract that sprays the 1st of each month. They have been contacted and your comments shared. In addition, we sent out our welcome letter with places to dine, points of interest and access code to check into for the unit. It was forwarded to the email on file with VRBO. my apologies if not received, again thank you for taking the time and effort to share your feedback.
Respectfully,

the apartment was quaint, but it could have been cleaner. Lots of dead insects and debris. The bed was a full, not a queen and left a lot to be desired. There was dog debris in the entranceway that was unpleasant. Perhaps it was too early in the season for an equipped apartment.

Karen, Thanks for your response and please accept our apologies for what appears to be an unpleasant visit. We live in SC, and like so many Maine summer rentals we normally open for business on Memorial Day weekend. So, typically two weeks prior to the opening day we bring on our housekeeping/yard staff to prepare for the summer season. At first, based on your date request we thought it best to decline based housekeeping availability. However, your request indicated you were looking to move to the wonderful state of Maine. So, Brenda and I decided we would leave SC early and prepare for your arrival. After driving the 1300 miles to Searsport it was obvious after winter and "Mud Season" we had 48 hours before our first guest in 2024. so, looking at your upstairs entry area I sat about in painting the picnic table, painting the stairway leading up to your apartment, pulling out and setting up the deck furniture, cleaning up the grill, buying a fresh tank of propane, scheduled HVAC service for turn on of heating and then turned our attention inside where we cleaned cabinets, bathroom, and overall apartment, set up WI-FI and readied the apartment for your arrival.
Since we live in SC we seldom get to meet our guest, especially those relocating to Maine, you're a delightful couple. It was nice to witness the excitement of your experience in looking for the perfect real estate property and finding it.
Since we were staying in the unit next to you it is our sincere wish that you could have expressed any dissatisfaction where we could immediately correct it. You did send text requesting more toilet paper and towels and I dashed to the store and left them at your door. As you prepared to leave you requested additional trash bags and I left them for you. So, all in all, I thought your stay would be enjoyable.
Upon receipt of your review, I dashed upstairs, and the apartment looked great, the (queen) size bed was even remade. Thanks for being such neat guest.
Please let me list and address each of your concerns:
1. The bed is a queen size bed and the mattress was replaced in 2022 but I'll revisit for a firmer mattress.
2. Bugs and debris; Prior to your arrival I sat off bug bombs, I do every year when we open from winter and then proceeded general cleanup. We walked through the morning prior to your arrival for last minute check, looked good to us. Could you please help us improve by identifying what you intended as debris?
3. Yes we do have two small dogs a Westie and Scottie and supervise them when we let them outside. We cleanup after them but if we missed something we apologize that is unacceptable. (Please note: we have about 24 wild turkeys that work their way through our property in the spring, prior to heavy traffic of guest. We also attempt to cleanup and discourage them.)
As we stated earlier, each and every guest is important to us. We want it to be a memory not a unpleasant experience. Whereas it was our best intention to meet our standard we learned our lesson here. We let you down by not sticking to our Memorial Rental Rule, the weather is better and the necessary workforce is available for our guest to want to return. We wish you both an enjoyable new chapter in your life as you move to Maine, "The way life should be"

Hosted by Rick De Coyte
Your hosts - Rick, Sabrina and Violet - love welcoming guests to this beautiful stretch of the Maine Coast! Previous owners of the Yardarm Motel in Searsport, our family recently purchased this property and are working to make it our own. We are all lovers of the arts, travel, and animals. You'll meet our friendly chickens and goats on the property and maybe our dog, Nya. Rick runs a fine art print studio (soon to be located on the property) and is happy to provide tips on great places to paint or photograph along the coast! Violet will be entering 8th grade at Searsport District Middle and High School in the fall and Sabrina teaches in the Honors College at the University of Maine. Please reach out if we can help to answer questions about the area!
Why they chose this property
Living in the Searsport and Belfast area of Midcoast Maine is a true gem. The stunning coastline is right at your doorstep, with Penobscot Bay offering endless opportunities for water activities and gorgeous views. Strolling along the waterfront in Belfast, you'll feel a strong sense of community and a laid-back vibe that's hard to find elsewhere.
One of my favorite things about this area is the thriving local food scene. From fresh seafood at Young's Lobster Pound in Belfast to the delightful restaurats in Searsport, there's always a delicious meal to enjoy. The weekly farmers' markets in Belfast (Friday and Saturday) are a must-visit, showcasing the best of local produce and artisanal goods.
The rich history of the region is also captivating, with Searsport's Penobscot Marine Museum telling the story of Maine's maritime heritage. Staying here, you'll have the chance to immerse yourself in the fascinating past while being part of a vibrant, modern community.
We love the easy access to outdoor adventures, from hiking in the nearby state parks to exploring the many coastal islands. And with Belfast's thriving arts scene, including the annual Arts in the Park festival, the Colonial Theatre for movies, Belfast Maskers for live theatre, and bands at Marshall Wharf, there's never a dull moment.
Living in Searsport and Belfast means embracing a simpler, more connected way of life, surrounded by natural beauty and a warm, welcoming community. Come visit and see what we enjoy year round!
What makes this property unique
We know travel is expensive. And reasonably priced options along the coast are becoming harder and harder to find. We try to keep our rates low, while providing a great home base for your time exploring Midcoast Maine. We are locals - not absentee landlords. Our housekeeper is the mom of our daughter's best friend. Rick runs a business in the community; Sabrina serves on the school board. If you want to truly support the local economy while also enjoying a great value stay in a fabulous location - we should be your top choice!
