Both rooms are equally fabulous and creative - no more drawing straws with your travel companions over the master suite.
❤︎ ❤︎ The perfect solution for couples traveling together. That was our first priority when developing My Star Vacation Rentals! These bedrooms each have delightful decor, en-suite bathrooms, and comfortable beds. You will love the quality mattresses, luxury linens, and ample choice of pillows. Two bedrooms with queen beds plus a super comfortable pull-out queen sleeper sofa in the living room. Sleeps 6 total with two full bathrooms.

☕️ The darling kitchen opens to a cozy living room and makes a great place to cook, eat, and just plain relax after spending the day at The National Parks or Best Friends Animal Shelter.

🎞 One of our favorite things about Kanab is its unique movie-making history! At one time more movies were made in Kanab Utah, than anywhere else in the United States outside of California! Wow, that's a lot of movies and a lot of interesting history for this little town. Pop up some popcorn and spend your evenings relaxing in our cozy living room surrounded by photos of that fun filming history and watch some of our ever-growing collection of vintage western movies made right here.

🖥 Not into old Westerns? No problem. Stream all of your favorites directly through our smart TV. Our upgraded fiber-optic network means no streaming downtime! Bring your own passwords for other viewing options with your own accounts. (We do not have Direct or Cable TV)

🧺 Pack light, full laundry facilities, shampoo, conditioner, and hair dryers on site.

💻 Working remotely?? No worries, we have got you covered. Kanab's fiber-optic network has been reliable and fast for our guests.

🍔 Located within easy walking distance to several restaurants and a grocery store.

▶︎NOTE, NOTE! - I do have a basic short-term rental agreement that I will email after booking and I ask for a photo ID. You can see the details of that in advance under my 'House Rules".
I also have a $500 security deposit - This IS NOT charged only authorized, just in case there is a claim at the end of your stay.

🐕 Pet-friendly for up to two dogs. Pets are NOT allowed home alone unless approved. Do keep in mind, pets are not allowed in the National Parks (with a few exceptions). Kennels and pet sitters available, just let me know.

♿️Wheelchair-friendly by design! Another purposeful design from MyStarVR. One level, no stairs, and wide front entry door. We know it can be difficult to find accessible accommodations (especially if you want to bring your pet along). Now you have a choice in Kanab. Our Farmhouse bedroom has a 36" entry door with 52" sliding doors into the bathroom. The zero-entry shower makes wheeling in easy, and conveniently placed grab bars are a big help when you need a little balance. Also available if needed are shower stool, toilet lift seat, and bedside rail. Please contact me with your needs and how we can help!

🐶 For our Best Friends Animal Shelter volunteers - Yes! We do allow Sleepover pets when you are volunteering at the shelter!

More members in your crew can stay at the Star Garage next door!

COVID getaway

Could not have asked for a better place to stay. We met the sweet home owners whose attention to detail was amazing. So much to see and do in Kanab. We plan on a return trip some day.

Exceeded our expectations!

Sherene and John have gone above and beyond to make vacationers staying at their Western Star vacation rental feel welcome and at home. Western Star was not only very comfortable but had so many extra touches, such as a hammock, supplies needed for day trips like coolers, sand boarding supplies, lawn chairs, etc. The history, decor, and art added to this being the best vacation rental we’ve ever stayed in! I highly recommend staying at the Western Star!

-When we married 41 years ago John told me “We may never be rich, but I promise you we will never be bored!”. That was an understatement. Once in a while, I confess, I just want to be a little bored. Life is always an adventure in our family. Recreating this home has been no exception.
John loves to travel and got me hooked. So even though we are both native Utahns, we try and see some part of the world every chance we get.
John also loves to create stuff. An artist at heart! So building the Western Star has been a combination of loves. Attempting to see travel through your eyes as we have created the bungalow has been almost as fun as going somewhere new ourselves.
If you have a hankerin’ to talk about old cars or Rat Fink, give John a call. If you’d rather talk about creating costumes or quilts, Sherene is your gal. We both enjoy ATV riding, back-country hiking, and old movies.
We are so happy to be full-time residents of Kanab since 2022. We have always loved this southern part of the state, done lots of backpacking here, and were thrilled when we had the chance to purchase this home in Kanab at the end of 2015.
We have 4 grown children and 4 grandchildren. Life is good!
We are excited to have you come and share some of the great sites that southern Utah has to offer.

We love Kanab and the surrounding areas. So much to see! And the climate is great. Still a change of seasons, but temps. seldom stay as cold as our home in Central Utah, 4 hours North.
