Beautiful Restored Colonial in Centro Historico

Casa Serena has all of the colonial charm you expect in a fully-renovated home in the heart of Merida's Centro.  It is located only steps away from Merida's English Library, a local hub for expat gathering and activities.

This colonial home is ideally situated for exploring the nearby art galleries, parks, historic churches, and museums but also close to the local shops, cafés, and culinary restaurants for which Merida has become famous.

Welcoming you as you enter the foyer of the home are high wood-beamed ceilings, restored antique doors, pasta tiled floors and large open spaces.  You will find this comfortable home tastefully decorated with unique Mexican artwork collected by the owner adorning the walls and tables throughout.  Just off the foyer, you will find the first of three well appointed bedrooms with ensuite baths. The home sleeps 6 persons.  Next is a comfortable living room for unwinding by reading, listening to music, or watching the cable television. This leads to both the inside dining room and the kitchen. The column-lined kitchen is the center of the home and effortlessly meshes with the exterior courtyard, pool, and exterior dining room which surround it.  The modern kitchen is fully-equipped to fulfill all of your needs during your stay and features a breakfast bar for gathering or eating. There is even a grill by the pool for further cooking needs.

The exterior spaces of this home, which feature tropical flowering and fruit-bearing plants, are where most guests end up relaxing when not exploring the historic city or nearby Mayan pyramids, museums and cenotes.  In addition to the 6 ft. by 15 ft. filtered pool in the center courtyard, there are two additional rooftop terraces to enjoy.  Perched above the kitchen is a just completed, bedroom suite which overlooks the pool below and has its own bathroom.  Past the pool, secluded at the rear of the property, is the separate master suite and bath.  This bedroom is the perfect place to catch up on any well-deserved sleep.

Casa Serena has a long history of providing its guests with a centrally located retreat in the middle of historic Merida.

Please make sure all air conditioner units and fans are turned off
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Electrical Usage is charged. The meter is read at the beginning and end of your stay. KWH consumed is submitted as a post stay charge.

This place was amazing. The host was wonderful, answered all my questions right away. The house is located near restaurants, gift shops all within walking distance. The area is super safe. The people are friendly and very polite. We went to San Sebastian Cenote and Chichen Itza. We had a great time. Will stay there again for sure.

What an amazing place. Incredibly close to everything, from convenience stores to restaurants, to little shops, bars, the cathedral, I mean… everything! The house is absolutely stunning!!!! Very family-friendly, too. The floor plan and architecture of this place were absolutely exquisite and felt authentic to Mérida. We are definitely coming back and actually can’t wait. The hosts are so sweet and attentive!!!

Great place, great location, great hosts

We had a great weeklong stay. It was great to walk everywhere, the area and Merida in general is very safe. The house is very comfortable and well stocked with everything. There is a bar nearby that you can hear music from, but it did not bother us at all. The hosts are very helpful with clear directions.

This home is amazing. Having a pool to cool down in was great. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a few meals. The layout of the property was great for two couples. With plenty of space to ourselves and nice common areas.

Incredibly Charming House

This place is even more charming than the photos. Our family of 5 loved staying here for a few days. The separation of the 3 rooms is perfect for privacy. The outdoor space is lovely and the rest of it is equally fantastic. Great location just a couple blocks from tons of restaurants and bars. We would come back here in a heartbeat.

Wonderful place!

Our family of four fell in love with Casa Serena! The house is more beautiful even than the photos - we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking (buy your own groceries though), and the plunge pool made for relaxing afternoons and evenings. The location is excellent - we walked everywhere and loved seeing Mérida this way. We would definitely stay here again!

Great Stay

We traveled as 4 adults, 2 couples, we really enjoyed our stay here, the location was great, easy walk to get to pretty well anything we wanted to do, restaurants, bars, shopping, etc. Close proximity to bars did mean a bit of music noise, but hey, you're on vacation, it did not bother us at all. The set up of the house would work perfectly for 2 or 3 couples traveling together, each would have their own space/bathroom plus an extra bathroom out by the pool for pool days which was definitely necessary with the Marida heat! Was very handy having laundry available on site and the place was kept clean, would stay again if traveling with other couples again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this place. It felt like staying at a family house, which added to the overall experience in Mérida. While not everything was perfect, it still made for a great stay. After each excursion, everyone had their own space to unwind and recharge. If I had to complain, it would be the keys. I would suggest having one set of keys for the front door and a master key for the rest of the rooms. But other than that, everything else worked well. We would definitely recommend staying here if you want to truly experience Mérida.“Flores Family”

Superb location, good communication, plenty of space. Quaint, historic, and grand hacienda.Location: the casa is located just a few minutes to food, fun, and history. However, main bedroom can hear traffic from the street.Communication: property manager was communicative, detailed instructions were provided, all was as described.House: large space, dining, and courtyard. Rooms are separate enough for occupants to have their own space. Except for the main bedroom, all the others are accessible through the courtyard/pool area. Plenty of chill space, chairs, sofas. LOTS and LOTS of books with great information (found a Lonely Planet:Mexico book). The binder had great recommendations for food and things to do. Large doors! This place has history!

Great stay

This was our first time to Mérida. The home was lovely and very spacious. We enjoyed the pool in the warm afternoons. Each bedroom has an air conditioner as does the tv room. The house gets very warm (it was 100 degrees F outside) but there are fans and a cross breeze. We only used the aircon at night when we slept. We would definitely stay here again. The location was close to everything. We love to walk but also took a cab or uber a couple times.

Magical place to stay

Everything in the property evokes history. Gorgeous design, tiles everywhere, loads of privacy between bedrooms, three separate decks, birds singing in the trees, a well-appointed kitchen to cook in, A/C for when needed... utterly perfect. 10.minutes' walk from the main square, and 5 minutes from Santa Lucia park. Icing on cake if you are a jazz/ blues fan: a stone's throw from Dzalbay, where patrons don't say a word during the sets. Heaven!
