A wonderfull place at the vineyard. Lots of shade during the hot days. Maria is a great host and the daily breakfast was a surprise. There are nice beaches nearby and the walk in the gorge is a must.

It's all Greek to me !!!
Montofoli in the pictures and Montofoli in real life are two separate things , firstly a picture cannot do the estate justice. It can only capture part or glimpses of what you see . The estate is a must see in it's own rights , steeped in history but also in character and nostalgia. The Belvedere although one of the newer buildings contains it's own character and reminded me of a Greece I found over 30 years ago when I first visited the country . Yet the Belvedere also offers air conditioning in all of its rooms as well as the shutters to keep the rooms cool during the bright sunny days . The villa had all the mods and cons plus the picture you see of the veranda does not quite show it all, there is outside dining facilities and a nice grilling place if you want to BBQ . I picked up some very good meat from the butchers near the bank down from the church.
Everything was well kept inside and the host made sure you had everything you needed , even the toiletries and pantry items were there ready . The Breakfast for the first morning was a great treat and I would say it was enough to set you up for the whole day and more. The beginning of the holiday and already we felt spoilt and well taken care of.
The swimming pool was a good size for the two villas and there was outdoor showers both up by the villa and next to the pool . The views from each place, pool , Villa and gardens were stunning.
The whole area is secure and safe, there is parking right next to the villa and a very good guard dog that my kids fell in love with .
There is plenty to see and worth looking at the tours and exploring . Dimitri's taverna was my favourite place to eat and within walking distance. Karystos is not so touristy but has plenty of other tavernas I would be more inclined to eat at the tavernas recommended as there is one or two on the seafront that cost without the quality IMO. Mili is an up hill climb by foot but well worth the walk . The Red Castle I suggest as the host recommended , using a car until the carpark, as the climb can be a bit much if the sun is shining , but a must to visit. There are water falls , secluded beaches and hikes in a number of directions. To be honest I think we have just scratched the surface in two weeks but the memories are fantastic.
We left Montofoli sad because we enjoyed our stay very much and we also enjoyed our time with the hosts which are a big part of the Montofoli magic .
ευχαριστώ !

We had a miraculous week in the Montofoli Estate. The house Belvedere is furnished very well and equipped, everything is affectionate and is made careful. Danae and Constantino are excellent hosts and are available really always with advice & action. They have a vast amount tips which have still given an understanding of the wonderful area with their great and small attractions to us. Pool & garden and all undeveloped outskirt areas are extremely nice and maintained very well. One has a wonderful view avon of the patio on the sea. Children are with all what belongs to them, pretty welcome. A total of one great recommendation for the families which would like to spend a particular and authentic vacation.

About the host
Hosted by Estate Keeper
Our father bought this timeless estate in ruins in 1986 with the dream to revive it. He restored the historic buildings with respect to the land and its history. He also produced a unique sweet wine, Montofoli Estate, from the vineyard he planted in 1986, following the steps of his predecessors who cultivated this fertile land.
Following the restoration, we opened the estate to the public with the wish to contribute to the cultural advancement of the region: the estate is today open to guided tours, wine tastings, private dinners and hospitality: you can book one of the historical villas – each one with a distinguished character – and spend time with family and friends. You can even rent the estate for your private events, be them weddings, festivals, conferences etc.
Why they chose this property
Montofoli Estate is famous for its uncommon, effervescent AMBIENCE that provides a sense of belonging, which can only be experienced on site. Enjoying a stay in one of the villas within the estate is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that guests treasure for years to come.
What makes this property unique
Authenticity, historical place, large surface villa, quiet, vineyard, fantastic views near a small town still authentic.
