About this property

Pretty cottage sleeps 5 in country estate close to beaches with heated pools

A pretty cottage for 5 people, on a beautiful country estate in South Devon, with indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools, a gym, tennis court, fishing lake, play area and 28 acres of land to enjoy. We welcome dogs. Close to beautiful South Devon beaches of Bigbury Bay, Thurleston, Bantham and Hope Cove and the towns of Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Salcombe. Furry friends are welcome and safe in the enclosed private courtyard. Children are very welcome with a play area and games room, but also great for a romantic couple's getaway.

Downstairs is an open plan living space, which also has a sofa bed for a fifth guest (please bring own bedding if using soafabed), and dining area with fully fitted kitchen. The front door opens out onto an enclosed private courtyard with barbecue and seating area. Upstairs are 2 bedrooms, one double and one room with two single beds. The bathroom with bath and shower over is upstairs. All linen and towels are included.

We bought the cottage in November 2017. It had been our dream for many years to be able to own a property in South Devon. As soon as we viewed Hope Cottage and the gorgeous country estate we fell in love with it.

Why they chose this property

We hope you love our cottage as much as we do. We love the facilities on the Estate, walking our dogs in the fields and woods and the children love the pools. It's a very safe environment. My husband loves nothing better than a long walk on the moors or along the cliff paths where he won;t see a soul, whereas I love to go to the nearby towns where I can wander around the independent shops, enjoy a cappuccino and people watch. The children would say their favourite thing is the local beaches and bringing fish and chips back with us.

What makes this property unique

The heated outdoor pool is beautiful (open end of May until September) and the indoor pool is open all year so perfect if it's raining! The fishing lake is packed with carp and other fish, and is a great place to have a picnic. Our younger son is the first down to the tennis court whereas our older son heads to the gym. For younger children, the play area in the walled garden is lovely, and there's plenty of space here to kick a ball around.
