Emilia's Home - the largest terrace in the historic center of Siena

This apartment is located on the second floor, served by hoists that can carry a person or just luggage, of a historic building in Piazza Matteotti, a square located at the beginning of the central road of Siena, via Banchi di sopra; in just few steps you will be in the pulsating heart of the city “Piazza del Campo”.

The entire house has been recently renovated and re furnished with a refined style and a welcoming atmosphere, to make you feel really at home. Each room has plenty of natural light thanks to the bright windows. The large terrace equipped with outdoor seating and table complete the property.



The living area has a sofa bed, a characteristic wooden table, TV area, and allows access to the terrace equipped with armchairs and a table where you can have a meal or spend an evening with friends. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped to allow you to cook your favorite dishes at home. flat tv, microwaves and air conditioning are excellent bonuses.

The bedrooms are well maintained and both are equipped with king-size beds. One of the two has a bathroom inside.

A small corridor with a large antique mirror and another bathroom complete the property.

Our stay was awful. The apartment is directly over the square, and the late-night partying noise made it very hard to sleep.We knew there was a problem immediately when they were trying to reset the heat and hot water boiler during check-in. It then went out three times, including overnight, leaving our family freezing. Because of that, we had to cancel our tours the next day while waiting for someone to come reset it again.The agency was unhelpful and unprofessional. Instead of dealing with an attentive host, we were dealing with an agency team that seemed unable to do much without asking someone else first. On the second night, the thermostat was also being adjusted remotely and kept lower than we had asked.Siena is beautiful, but I would strongly recommend staying somewhere else.

Beautiful terrace and wonderful location

One of our favorite places we stayed while in Italy! Very easy to walk to all the main areas of the city. The terrace was wonderful and unique—we didn’t see anything else like it in the city. The apartment itself is beautifully decorated and had everything our family of 4 needed.

The apartment location was excellant. There are two markets just minutes away as well as several restaurants and a gelato/pastry/coffee shop just below the apartment. Everything in the town was in walking distance. The apartment is a good solution for couples traveling together who need their own bedroom and bathroom. The only hiccup was the check-in. After waiting for almost an hour I had to call the host who actually sent someone else to check us in. Not sure what was going on but the fill in was courteous. Limited essentials. We ended up having to buy our own TP since they only provided one roll for the entire week stay.

Lovely, modern apartment

Spotlessly clean and comfortable with a great deck and terrific cafe and gelato place next door for morning coffee, quick lunch, snacks and really good gelato. Good restaurant on the piazza and easy stroll into the historical center. Easy walk to main bus station and good communication with management. We had a great stay and would book this apartment again - we loved Siena!

Great place and great location

Spacious apartment, very well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and nice bedrooms. Huge terrace with view of church tower and plaza below. 7 minute walk to Duomo and other attractions. Great supermarket below the apartment around the corner and coffee shops and restaurants. Good working heat and cooling system. Bus terminal one block away.

Perfect location!

My sister and I stayed for 10 days and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The location was central to everything with a taxi stand right out front. A fully stocked grocery was directly below along with an outstanding pizza restaurant, gelato shop and another restaurant on the square. Inside, the rooms were comfortable and well appointed. We did cook several times and found everything we needed. The balcony was lovely for people watching down below, listening to the church bells and watching sunsets over the beautiful hills. Our hosts, Christina and Luigi, responded immediately with answers to our questions even days after we checked in. I highly recommend this flat.

Excellent location for exploring Siena’s old city

We are a family of three and thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay in July of 2023. The apartment is very roomy with excellent air conditioning and the beds are comfortable. Our Nespresso machine didn’t work when we got there and after I mentioned it we had a new working one sitting there when we got back from our exploring a few hours later. There was some renovations being done on the aperment below us but other than that the place is very quiet and secure. It’s a great location and only a few minutes walk away from the main square of the city. There is a massive rooftop patio all to yourself and we enjoyed glasses of wine in the evening after dinner. Really only very good things to say about this place and I highly recommend it. It is close to a major outdoor arena which you can see clearly from the patio but there was no events held while we were staying there.

Great location … but

I would rate this property as “ok.” It is in a good location near restaurants, bars and the Conad grocery. Overall our stay was alright except for: - the showers did not drain properly. The manager sent some one over to check this but didn’t solve the issue. - kitchen did not feature a coffee maker, just two tiny moka pots - the sink in one bath was totally clogged, this was fixed. - the only electrical plug in the same bath did not work. Reported but was not fixed. - the outdoor furniture on the terrace was tattered and in sore need of replacement. In short, we didn’t feel like the property measured up to the money spent for it.

Lots of great things and a few not as great

The location was great for touring but there is a late night bar/restaurant below the master bedroom. This made for lots of noise well into the night. The second bathroom shower did not drain well and the fan didn’t work. I did message about these two bathroom things but have yet to hear back. The patio area was lovely but of course very hot in the summer. The washing machine was for sure apartment size and would wash only a 4-5 items at a time. No big deal as they dried very quickly on the patio. Our biggest concern is that someone in the building was engaging the second lock on the exit from the building. This was done with a key so you needed a key to get out of the building. Not safe if there was ever a fire or you were leaving at the end of your stay and had left the keys in the apartment already.

False advertising

Yes, we rented this place because we were going to be staying in Europe for a month and had a lot of heavy luggage and needed an elevator. We were informed on arrival that the elevator was not available for rental guests. My husband had an injured shoulder and was not able to lift heavy luggage. We met with the manager of the apartments since Siena Rentals manages a number of places. They said they would come back when we left upon check out to help us down with the luggage, but despite the fact that I texted twice the day of our check out to remind them they were not there on time and we had to leave. The other negative thing was the lady who checked us in spent about two minutes with us and wanted nothing more than to get out the door so we weren’t even given basic information about the property like Wi-Fi codes and garbage instructions. We found the showers in very poor condition with the door not opening and closing properly since it was jammed and they were really too tiny to have a proper shower and unappealing dirty and grungy. The apartment was smaller than it appeared in the advertisement, and you really would have a difficult time cooking there. The apartment also looked as if it needed a good cleaning. The beds were uncomfortable and too soft. I could go on and on. The only positive thing was that it was a central location and they did leave plenty of towels. Also , the kitchen did seem well supplied with equipment, despite the fact that it was very tiny.

Bel appartement typique avec grande terrasse. Bien agencé. Bon emplacement mais très bruyant dans la chambre côté boulevard. Compliqué pour se garer surtout jour de marché car même le parking fermé payant n’est pas autorisé. Évacuation des douches bouchées dans les salles de bain donc ça inonde la salle de bain. Porte de douche en verre compliquée à fermer.

Beautiful apartment, all the amenities of a nicely stocked kitchen,, comfortable beds and bonus of a beautiful outdoor terrace with lovely views of the sunset and Sienna. We enjoyed our 3nights stay very much. Only challenge we found was the apartment is very close to the sports stadium, and every night there was a game, with very loud fans. Difficult sleeping until after midnight each night, even with ear plugs. Would highly recommend this apartment. Just be aware, if not attending the sporting events, may be a bit noisy at night.

Great location, beautiful terrace!

Well equipped apartment, situated on the edge of the square leading into old town. Great location, easy access to everything . Grocery store, bakery, wine shops all with steps away. Living room/kitchen is a little small but the huge terrace makes up for it. Bedrooms are a good size, bathrooms well appointed. Lots of towels! Their is small elevator but we used the stairs as it was only two easy flights. Would come back and stay here again!

Our stay in Emilia's House in Siena was fantastic! The apartment was exactly as stated on the website. Very comfortable and accommodating to our party of 5. The private terrace was an added bonus. Plenty of extra blankets, pillows, and towels! Luigi and Christina were very responsive when we arrived. Luigi even helped direct us to the parking garage while he was away on holiday with his own family. Christina met us at the parking garage and checked us into the apartment. Her English was fantastic and explained all the amenities of the apartment. The only negatives I had were leading up to our trip my credit card has still not been charged for the rental. I was extremely concerned that I did not have a confirmed reservation and no place to stay in Siena. After calling VRBO they put me in touch with Luigi who explained they wait until check in to run payment incase you want to pay in cash. He apologized for that not being explained clearly. I would book Emilia's house again on my next trip to Siena!

Deceptive dishonest owner

I booked a 3 bedroom with a rooftop terrace in a light traffic square next to parking and 0.2 miles from Historic Siena Center. When we arrived, there was 2 bedrooms and the agent said a pullout in the living room counts as a bedroom. Of course thats not accurate and I cant imagine it meets Home away standards. They had us in a tough spot as we were on a day trip to Siena and had no other place to stay. In addition, my daughter got sick on our way and we were delayed so my 83 year old father was put in a position to deal with this dishonest agent. My dad was forced to make an instant decision to move us to a proper 3rd bedroom where we were up charged a significant amount, on a busy street with no view due to construction outside the apartment.. The unit we were moved to had a broken toilet ,beds that were not on box springs and the matress was directly on the floor . I have pictures to confirm all of this. Imagine being 83 like my dad and having to climb out of bed so close to the floor to use the bathroom at night? My father incurred two taxi rides for significant cost to go to the new location. Home away needs to prevent this agent from ever listing another property on your website as they were intentionally deceptive in their ad and the multiple messages I sent them . They clearly knew I needed 3 bedrooms based on the multiple emails and still sold me a two bedroom. I am shocked that Home away allows this and hasnt fixed it? I need you to act decisively or I will make sure my 50,000 Linked in, Instagram and Twitter followers know what a sham this is. I have no intention paying for this property or any fees from Home away I have traveled to 40 countries and never had an experience like this I will not pay for this room as I was scammed Its your platform so take ownership and stop asking me if I need help. Clearly I do as thats why I took my valuable time while traveling with my family to chat with you last night and tonight Right now Homeaway and this blatantly dishonest rental agent ruined my 1 day trip to Siena from my base in Bagni Da Lucca. Neither HA or the agent will ever be able to make up our lost time and pain in Siena The funny thing is the owner has now revised their dishonest listing yet HOME AWAY has done nothing to address or fix the situation for us so the one night we had in Siena in our lives was RUINED

Fabulous roof patio in great location!

This is a wonderful vacation rental! Luigi met us at the neighborhood coffee shop and showed us to this super accommodation. The huge roof top patio was incredible and really added to our experience of Siena. And the location was ideal: we walked everywhere. All the major sites were five to ten minutes of walking. I highly recommend this place.
