Set in an alley, this house has been renovated in an elegant way, yet keeping all of its charm and character that have been tied to it from the days it was built around 400 years ago. Walking about 50 metres into the alley one finds Ta' Drinu, and on entering the house, one finds a small yard with plants and a water feature. Upon entering the house one finds himself in a 42 square meter living room with round sofa, jacuzzi, and 46 inch LED TV. Next to this room is a separate dining room, a well equipped kitchen, and a shower room. A staircase from the living room leads to the bedroom with en suite shower and a 50 square meter roof terrace with garden, outdoor sofa, dining table for 4 and BBQ.

The host was incredibly kind and helpful. Efficient transfer to and from the airport was arranged on request. A wonderful welcome package was provided with everything we needed to get started. The accommodation was very clean and well equipped. A beautiful traditional Maltese dwelling, but with unique features and interior design. Location is wonderful, placed in the centre of a traditional Maltese village, particularly good if you want to be away from the crowds. Quick and easy access to Valletta via Bolt which is great value. Highly recommended.
Everything was as described. The place was Clean and well maintained. We really enjoyed our stay in Zabbar and the people and Community are friendly. We will come Back again for another Trip to malta
The hosts had equipped the accommodation extremely well (which included dishwasher tabs, laundry detergent, etc) and we had a welcome pack of the basics of milk, bread, cheese, coffee, tea and a couple of beers. The hosts even met us at the airport and we followed them to the accommodation as it was quite tricky to find. There is parking but it is on street parking near by the accommodation. The accommodation was lovely but quirky. You had to go outside and go up stone steps to get to the bedroom and the doorways were quite low. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Great place to stay away from the busy tourist areas but easy to access them. Great bar/cafe in the square, 13 Euro taxi into the centre of Valletta, 30 minutes walk to the Grand Harbour at Birgu. Exceptional place to stay if you're looking for a quiet retreat with local interest.
We had a wonderful stay in this unique property. The hosts were always prompt in communicating and we felt warmly welcomed and well taken care of. Loved it!
Loved staying at Ta’ Drinu. Very spacious and equipped very well. Mary Rose even included food items and bottled water. Zabbar is a quiet, not touristy neighborhood away from the hustle and bustle of Valletta - relaxing and so quiet at night. Easy walk to bus stops for transit to anywhere in Malta. Wonderful stay.
A beautiful historic building with plenty of outdoor space to enjoy the sunshine. Spotlessly clean and really helpful hosts who met us at the airport. We drove all over the island and would recommend a hire car in order to be able to do this. Highly recommended
Authentic Malta location with everything you need on your doorstep. Short taxi ride to Valletta.
Simple easy process to book pay and liaise with owners. Even managed to sort celebration cake and balloons. Big thumbs up from us.

An interesting house to stay in - beautifully restored. A bit different from the usual holiday home. We enjoyed the upstairs patio and the jacuzzi. The bedroom was comfortable. Kitchen well equipped and had everything we needed. Adrian met us when we arrived and was very helpful in suggesting local places to visit - and the nearest supermarket.
From start to finish the experience was wonderful
Hosts met us and gave us a brief tour of the house including a fridge full of goodies to welcome us
The house was wonderful with a lovely courtyard and roof garden for those lovely evenings with a bottle of wine
Did not want to leave !!
Would highly recommend this gem

The house is as lovely as it looks in the photos. Well equipped if you want to cook or just chill out. The local bus service is great, we travelled all over the island. We had an unexpected power cut due to windy weather and Adrian came straight over with candles. Lovely, helpful hosts and a beautiful house - what more could you want?

Ta Drinu
My partner & I had a wonderful 5 day break in the Ta Drinu.
Mary Rose and Adrian have done an amazing job of renovation to a historic house and the jacuzzi was very welcome after a days walking.
Everyone was so friendly in the local village and the harbour bars & restaurants of Birgu were only 30 mins walk.
We would thoroughly recommend.

My husband and I stayed for over a week here and we loved every moment. Mary Rose and Adrian were the perfect hosts. They were extremely easy to communicate with and were there on site when we arrived. They gave us a tour and even stocked the fridge with some essentials for us! My husband and I relaxed in the jacuzzi each night while planning out the next day of our trip. We highly recommend a stay at one of of Mary Rose and Adrian's properties. 5 star hosts for sure!

Mary Rose and Adrian are terrific, promptly answering our questions and offering lots of tips and advice. Their home is unique - a true Malta experience - and we loved it. The town continues to reflect the Maltese culture, which we especially appreciated. It's within walking distance of all sorts of interesting places, and handy to a bus stop that can take you to Valetta and beyond. You should go!

Thanks for your review and for choosing our property Ta Drinu for your holiday and hope to accommodate you again in the future.
A wonderful, unique stone property which was spotlessly clean on arrival. Mary Rose & Adrian are the proud owners and met us at the property and showed us around. We found the locality a good base to visit lots of different places in Malta. Zabbar has a local bakery , chemist and a couple of small supermarkets which are easy to walk to & from. There was a local market in the square on Saturday morning too. We used Bolt similar set up to Uber to get us around the island for either day trips or to visit Valletta in the evenings for a meal etc.The jacuzzi is very welcome after spending days out sightseeing and this was also spotlessly clean. The house has everything you need to self cater and we loved the trip up the internal stone staircase to the bedroom just off the roof terrace. A beautiful place to stay with lots of character. We hope to return in the future.
Such a unique place to stay and a fantastic property.
Communication with the hosts was second to none, they arranged our transfer, with Frank, and there was a lovely surprise with the welcome bits and pieces.
Location was ideal. Local shops were handy and the bakery had super fresh bread.
We purchased the 7 day bus pass for only 21euros and found this a great way to get in and out of Valletta and other areas of Malta.
We would highly recommend this property for a wonderful stay, especially with the jacuzzi, what a way to relax at the end of a busy sight seeing day.
Thank you to Mary Rose and Adrian.

Thanks for your lovely review. We are glad you had a wonderful holiday and would be happy to accommodate you again in the future.
We arrived at the apartment after a short journey from the airport and we’re shown around. It is an absolutely beautiful and you will not be disappointed! People were friendly and we loved our taxi driver, Frank, who was always available to take us places whenever asked. Amazing historical places to visit a bus or taxi ride away. If you are looking for sandy beaches, you will need to travel quite far e.g. West or North of Malta. Otherwise, we had an amazing time!
Thank you.

Zabbar's hidden gem
We were already impressed by the presentation of the villa on this page, but in reality it's even better. Although this is a house for 2 persons, the livingroom is huge and overcomplete (with jacuzzi!!!) but still cosy. There is also a seperate diningroom, a kitchen and a bathroom on the groundfloor. The bedroom (again with bathroom and toilet) and roofterrace are situated on the second floor. The owners really did their best by reconstructing this old house into a modern villa without loosing the character. Although this part of the island is quiet busy (lots of traffic) you won't notice all of that while you're indoors. You'll only be surrounded by locals doing their daily things. We really would recommend this house to everybody. This truly is Zabbar's hidden gem!!!

Mary Rose and Adrian
What can we say about this stunning house in the centre of Zabbar. From the start to the finish of our little Christmas and Birthday break everything was just perfect. Mary Rose and Adrian couldnt do enough, we were picked up by Julian who was lovely and met at the house by Adrian who showed us around inside and explained everything. We had water, milk, fresh bread, butter, fresh eggs, ham, cheese and some local beer left as a welcome package which was so kind. Amenities were great, a bakery across the road and a 24hr shop around the corner which was so useful. The house is only a 30 minute walk or Uber ride to lovely Birgu waterfront where there are lots of bar restaurents available, our favourite was Boa where we ate for my birthday meal on Christmas Eve. Adrian and Mary Rose have thought of everything, you can go out exploring in the day and then relax in the hot tub watching the tv or sitting up on the amazing roof terrace, what more can you ask for. We will be definitely be spreading the word on this lovely little hidden gem to all our friends and family and would not hesitate in recommending booking a stay. Everything was just absolutely perfect. Thank you very much Ceri and Tony, Newport, South Wales.
Nichtsdestotrotz: vielen lieben Dank Mary Rose!!!

Mother of three and hence quite busy all year round! I work from home and together with my husband we take great care of our properties. We love old houses and adore restoring them to their original beauty!
Why they chose this property
As soon as we entered the property, even though it was in a really bad state, we fell in love with it and instantly knew it had a great potential to be transformed in a beautiful and romantic holiday home.
What makes this property unique
The 45 square meter mill room with unique pointed arches and the lovely sunny terrace make the house very attractive.
