Great house. Great location.
Stayed here for a week in September. 6 Adults. Lots of space in the house, good sized bedrooms, well equipped kitchen and the extra upstairs sitting room was a real added bonus - the view of the hills from the window is amazing. Large garden for lounging or playing games. It's a level, 10 minute walk in to the centre of Keswick. We didn't use the cars all week. Well stocked general store at the nearby petrol station and two other supermarkets within easy walking distance. Plenty to see and do - the Pencil Museum well worth a visit. . Very good lunch at The Royal Oak. Excellent holiday. Definitely recommend Gatesgarth.

Gatesgarth far surpassed our expectations.
Gatesgarth far surpassed our expectations. It is the perfect base for a Lake District holiday. It is a large roomy, warm, cosy house that is so well equipped. We had an absolutely wonderful week in it. It has a large kitchen with everything you could possibly need for your culinary creations, we made cakes and scones and all our meals and spent hours around the large kitchen table as the kitchen is so inviting with fabulous views to the fields and fells. The two sitting rooms and conservatory meant there was a space for everyone, each quite different but so comfortable. There are many extras which make it feel like a luxury rental house: Christmas tree, well equipped utility room, warm bedding, towel heaters, hot water bottles (not that we needed them as the house is so warm) airer to dry wet rain gear. Don't dismiss it because it does not have the chocolate box cottage image, it really is a great house! Walk out the front door to the fells or the lovely town of Keswick. Perfect location! This is our 40th.
This is our 40th. year in the Lake District and we think we have found our forever property at Gatesgarth. If the weather is poor the house is large enough to accommodate us all in comfort. I'm afraid we don't have any photos - I'll make sure to take some next year - we've already booked! Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

We love this house.
We love this house. We stayed for 3 weeks and had a lovely time with family and friends. My only disappointment was that the house was supposed to have a deep clean when we arrived, there were cobwebs on curtain rails, light fittings and under dressing table. Because the cleaner we’re not allowed to come in while our possessions we there, I cleaned the house before the second week when our friends were arriving. I don’t know how long they had spent cleaning the house but it wasn’t what I consider a deep clean. Very disappointing. We didn’t mention this to the owners when they came to do the garden. We have booked for next year, because we love this house and Keswick. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Booked this for a special birthday celebration for our extended family of three generations & it was an excellent choice for us. Plenty of space indoors & a huge garden with unobstructed views of the fells from the back - we sat for ages (wineglass in hand!) just watching the cloud formations & the view. This more than compensated for the only drawback with the location - the house is on a very busy road so there’s a fair bit of traffic noise. Otherwise a good location, an easy walk into Keswick town centre & on to the lakeshore. Great walking from the door plus plenty of bus routes allowing us to do linear or circular walks without the car. Only other improvement would be lighter bedding for the summer - some of us overheated (& it wasn’t particularly hot weather). Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo
