The cottage was situated in a lovely spot , conservatory was looking out too lovely scenery, it was welcoming , really well equipped, couldn’t fault that side of it , the cleaning looked ok , but it needed a through clean , dead flies on the inside of windows , tops not dusted properly , conservatory windows haven’t been cleaned for ages , side of bed near drawers haven’t seen a duster for months. The shower didn’t drain , so couldn’t use that , the handle on the log burner wasn’t fixed properly , even the brush head came away when you a tried too brush up , lovely cottage just a bit tired.

Super week at this lovely holiday home, the cottage & location are ideal for those fit and active types. Good walks from the front door, Bala is the place for water sports, cycling, walking in the nearby mountains. 45 minutes from the seaside. There is great pub at the end of the lane, but a step hill to walk up on the way back. Plenty of wildlife to see Kestrals, Buzzards, and in the evening Foxes, Badgers Owls. On a clear night the stars are really clear & bright as there is no light pollution. Great location. David from Berkshire.

This really is a little gem of a place.
This really is a little gem of a place. Cosy, well furnished and everything you would need. Although there is no washer (I thought there was - hand wash agogo) As with other reviews, anyone visiting needs to be aware that the lane leading to the cottage is very narrow and the drive is grass/gravel, but perfectly negotiable with care (even in the pouring rain!) However, your sports coupe might have bother! The location is just perfect, with such beautiful views across the valley. The enclosed garden is good for dogs and I experienced no invading sheep as mentioned elsewhere. There are livestock directly outside the garden with only a wire fence, so any dogs that will vault the fence would need to be supervised. Local pub is great, although the walk back up can be an effort after a pint (or two) and is very dog friendly. This area of Wales is beautiful and relatively quiet. We went to Bala Lake, which has a range of water sports, Barmouth (amazing beach) Canaerfon, Betwys-y-Coed and Snowdon. Less known, but really worth a visit is Lake Vymwy, although the drive is heart-attack inducing in places! It is certainly worth it when you get there as it is relatively untouristy. Bala has several good sized stores and a Co-Op but the nearest large supermarket is LLangollen (Aldi) or Wrexham so plan ahead any big shops. Overall highly recommended. Other reviews have commented on some issues with cleanliness, but nothing was apparent other than this is a very old cottage and therefore is never going to be as showhome as a hotel room, but that's part of the experience!
