Cabin was lovely and cozy. Hosts were present during check-in and attentive. Property to close enough to town to quickly get supplies yet peaceful and quiet.
The hosts were amazing, met us there at the cabin and gave us a tour of the area and facilities. The court yard around it was quite beautiful, and was a quick drive in and out of town!
It’s always risky when you rent a place sight unseen, but this cabin is something unique and special. I was not disappointed. It is rustic but comfortable and has every convenience you could want. Great for a single or a couple. Dave and Karen are excellent hosts and great communicators. Enjoy!

Prescott Hideaway
The personal attention on welcoming us was much appreciated! The attention to detail in the house was excellent. The character of the cabin added a lot to our trip and entire stay! Probably the best VRBO we have rented because of its uniqueness and owner hospitality and helpfulness!!
The hosts were wonderful! Dave and Karen met us at the cabin and showed us around. They were very friendly and gave suggestions for restaurants and hiking trails. We ate at four restaurants they recommended and enjoyed them all. There is a binder full of useful information that we consulted often during our stay. The cabin is charming, comfortable and had everything we needed. It is also very conveniently located. We highly recommend it.
Dave & Karen were very nice & welcoming to myself & my best friend. The property is beautiful and kept up very nicely. We had fun! The neighbor next door did keep being loud till 10/11p doing construction but that is no reflection on the owners. Will stay again
Great little log cabin. Very close to everything in Prescott. The hosts were incredibly welcoming. Place was perfect, clean, private and we were able to relax and have an amazing time.Thank you Dave and Karen!!
Cozy cabin, gracious hosts, expansive grounds with lot’s of little spots to relax and take in nature. Our fur babies loved romping through the leaves and chewing on sticks. We also like how close it is to downtown and hiking.

Absolutely the most beautiful cabin we’ve ever stayed in. Dave, our host was extremely nice and accommodating. Loved walking around the lovely property and the cabin was so convenient to everything. Couldn’t have ask for a more perfect location. We would definitely stay here again if we go back to Prescott.
The hosts have thought of everything and then some. They have certainly gone above and beyond in all aspects including a well maintained cabin, thoughtfully and exceptionally stocked, providing activities and restaurants and more. The grounds are inviting and i imagine beautiful in the non winter. Quick to respond and such a pleasure. Highly recommend.
Host very friendly. so comfortable, even though it sleeps two there were comfortable seats for at least seven. We were early but they were still ready for us. Thank you Dave and Karen. Alan and Mary
Excellent stay in this authentic log cabin. Felt very secluded and private, yet within a short drive or even a walk to the center of town and all the conveniences. Clean, very well stocked, comfortable beds, good shower. The owners Dave and Karen are very responsive. Made us feel like home. Highly recommend.
Karen and Dave were so awesome to work with. Communication was strong and they even let us check in early due to 4th of July holiday. Will absolutely stay here again.

About the host
Hosted by Dave Rueb and Karen Hunt
We purchased the property in 2016 with the help of the previous owners who'd owned it for 30 years! Dave and I are both in Housing: Construction and Sales. With both of us self-employed in the housing industry we lost about everything (except each other!) in the crash. After business losses, bankruptcy, IRS audit, short sale and deaths in the family, we moved to Prescott, nearly on a whim. We rented from another couple we just met who believed in us and loaned us the down payment for this parcel of land. We started thinking about the possibilities of such a cute property and did a little work on the Log Cabin but tried to keep it mostly intact, even with its funky fixes by other owners and tenants. We renovated the Cottage down the lane in a big way (#883663), opening the floor plan and adding a garden. The Log Cabin appears to have been owned (and possibly built) by a man who was a piano tuner and salesman. His wife worked as a bookkeeper for an attorney. They had one daughter who eventually taught dance in Los Angeles but returned to Prescott to care for her father in his last days and bury him in the local cemetery next to his wife (researched at Sharlot Hall Museum). Thank you for choosing us. Let us know how we can make the property and your experience even better. We started this as our primary business after suffering many losses. We want a successful business and happy, satisfied guests! Blessings to you! Karen and Dave
Why they chose this property
We really liked the authenticity of the Log Cabin, the location near the Fairgrounds and Downtown (but not too close) and the seasonal creek. With all the large elms, locusts and cottonwoods, we knew we wanted to preserve and improve upon this little park-like setting. The owners were thrilled with our vision and were finally able to part with it, knowing we would be good stewards to the land and the creek which adds to the water supply in Prescott.
What makes this property unique
The Log Cabin is definitely unique and incredibly cute! The log beams, the gas stove, the little front porch, the built-in closets and shelves were all really dear to us. We had an incredible time furnishing it and meeting people from auctions, antique stores, yard sales, thrift stores and estate sales. It's so wonderful to see so many works of art, antiques and collectibles and remember the people and stories that go with them. How heart-warming and magical it is to repurpose someone else's beloved or handmade items!
