Olive Alley sits about half a mile southwest of the downtown Paso Robles square — close enough to walk in for dinner, far enough out that the evenings stay quiet. It's an upstairs condo with its own alley entrance, which is a small thing that turns out to matter: you come and go without crossing anyone else's path.
Inside are two bedrooms, one bath, and a fully equipped kitchen that handles real cooking, which is worth having in a town with a farmers market twice a week. A washer and dryer sit in the unit, and the furnishing is simple and done well.
The outdoor space is the surprise. There are dining areas on both levels, upstairs and down, so breakfast can happen in the morning sun and dinner wherever the shade has moved to. Central Coast evenings cool off fast and reliably, and both spaces get used.
The walk into town is the point of staying here. Spearhead Coffee and Just Baked are both under ten minutes on foot, either one a reasonable way to start a morning. The square is a couple of minutes further, ringed by boutiques and restaurants, with a farmers market filling the park on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Pasolivo pours olive oil tastings on Park Street — appropriate, given the street you're staying on — and BL Brasserie, the long-running French place, sits around the corner from it.
Head west and the roads climb into oak-covered hills toward Kiler Ridge Olive Farm, ten minutes out with a tasting patio and a view that justifies the drive. The coast at Morro Bay and Cambria is under an hour.

A place to relax and unwind, Paso Robles also offers hot springs that overlook surrounding vineyards. Whether it's for a romantic weekend or group getaway, take the plunge and come for a visit!
