Very peaceful and relaxing getaway, was a great recharge. The pool was a lovely addition, great for the kids - a bit too crowded for 5 people in it at a time. Facilities mostly clean, kind and responsive owners. Check in and out was super easy. Main downside were the pillows and water tank source - we had a pregnant woman with us and it was hard for her to get to sleep from pillows/mattress that were sinking in and also she had to avoid drinking the tap water as its tank based and untreated. Other than that it was great and the home amazingly spacious too for wet weather or family inhome catch ups/games etc.
Cute and well set out house located on a beautiful property was perfect for our little family getaway. Fresh eggs from the chickens in the morning were a nice bonus. Definitely enjoyed our stay
We enjoyed a wonderful weekend retreat at the Rye House. It was exactly what we’d hoped for. Perfect for several adults with 5 bedrooms. The house is surrounded by farmland, is very quiet, with a nice outlook. All that and only a few minutes drive from Kangaroo Valley township.
Our family really enjoyed staying in Rye House. The facilities are fabulous, a large living area, decks front and back, the comfy beds and the pool. Best of all was the sense of privacy and being in nature, the garden and the views. We were very grateful for the Christmas tree! This home is highly recommended.
Beautiful property surrounded by well looked after, manicured gardens. We really enjoyed our stay at the Rye house. Only thing to note was the walking times listed into Kangaroo Valley in the description of the property state 25min walk. It is more a 40min walk with the first part being on a thin stretch of road along the highway. The hosts were very responsive to any questions before and during our stay.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Spacious. 2 bathrooms difficult for our group
We had expected more animals for the children to interact with. They loved the chickens,
The pool was wonderful for the kids.
Peaceful environment
The twin bedroom smelled very damp/musty
Although the property and gardens were lovely, we found there were a few things missing that should have been provided: there were no Serving spoons in the kitchen - i.e. nothing to serve a soup or casserole with; there was no scrubbing brush or similar for the kitchen sink; with the type of couches in the lounge area, there should have been cushions for lumber support. Other than that, all was fine.

Dear Peter,
We are very sorry these items were missing. Sometimes things happen to get misplaced, had you called us we would have been straight over with some extra utensils. We leave our guests a new sponge that has a side on it for scubbing each time,we find that scrubbing brushes are dirty and they are not eco friendly they just add to the landfill and we try to minimise this as much as possible.
We are glad you enjoyed your time here with us.
Warm Regards
Terrene and John
we appreciated the lady owner inviting us to check in at 12pm instead of 3pm. we appreciated the Christmas tree for Christmas day and the arrival gift of chocolates and wine bottle. However, we expected the pool would be useable particularly that the property was described as having a swimming pool and we paid for it. But the pool wasn't clean and had sand and dirt sediments with a dead frog in it. we turned on the pump to attempt to clean it but realised quickly the water was reducing in the pool so we turned it off. we messaged the owner immediately. the lady owner replied a few hours later saying that her son cleaned the pool on the Thursday. I acknowledged that there were storms since Thursday. Later that day the male owner came on a quad bike and was abusive towards my husband accusing him of breaking the pump. The male owner then told us to pack our bags and leave! ( twice he said that). we were stunned! His son turned the hose on to refill the pool and the pump at the same time but the pool wasn't filling up and the dirt wasn't going away. the adult son then returned later that evening and acknowledged that the pump was broken and the pool was out of action. but apologised on behalf of his dad and asked us to stay. we stayed but we couldn't fully enjoy the holiday knowing the owner didn't want us there and we couldn't use the facilities advertised that we paid for. Also some of the outdoor furniture was very dirty so we couldn't use it. We left 2 days early.

Hi Aline,
Terrene and myself ( John) always try to make our guests stay a memorable one, including all of the little extras that we did for you , the Christmas tree, the bottle of wine, chocolates and biscuits. Regarding the pool, as you have stated in your review the storm with high winds would have blown dust and debris from the paddocks that are right next to the house. As you stated there was sand and dust at the bottom of the pool. The reason you could see this at the bottom of the pool is because the pool is crystal clear. If you had called us about the issue prior to tampering with our suffocated pool system we would have
asked our son to come over and run the robotic pool cleaner to remove the sand and dust on the bottom which takes only 1.5hrs. however the old guy decided that he would tamper with the pool filtration system. By doing this he damaged the sand filter selection switch which caused the pool to backwash and drain the water out of the pool to a level that the pool pump ran dry and damaged it, including the filtration switch. You mentioned about a dead frog ,frogs live only in healthy environments and we have plenty of them as we have a healthy environment. We can not control the frogs jumping into the pool and unfortunately the frogs will die in the pool because the pool is a salt water/ chlorinated pool which tells me the chlorinator levels were up to the right level to keep the pool sparkling clean. When i came down to see what was happening with my son and myself on the quad which i use on the farm as transport as i only have one leg. we were looking at the pool status and it was half empty and then the old man who I believe was your father came out outside from the house and approached my son and I asked him who touched the pool equipment ? and he said I did, I said that you had no right to touch the equipment. Then he replied very aggressively that he was entitled to tamper with the equipment because there was sentiment on the bottom of the pool. The situation became more heated between the father and I to a point when i told him if you tamper with the pool equipment again you are welcome to pack your bags and leave. My son then put the hose in the pool to try and refill the pool, because the pool was half empty and it is a 12,000 liter pool it takes a long time to fill. My son returned the next day as you said and told you that the pump wasn't working and by the way he is the one that looks after all of our three pools on our huge property and said that the pool equipment was no longer working. We then engaged our pool contractor to find out what the issue was and we were billed for a new pool pump and filtration selector controller. Aline you obviously have a cleaning issue as you never used our crockery and cutlery as our cleaners after your departure found there was garbage full of paper plates and plastic knifes and forks not only that none of the beds where slept in ! as they were all still made so obviously you just slept on top of the beds . Aline this house has been a tourist accommodation for close to 20 years and we have never had an issue like yours . If your father had never tampered with the pool equipment and had asked us to address your issues there would never had been an issue. Such a shame that you had to write such a defamatory review and couldn't speak to us first !
Fantastic stay for a long weekend, this place is so quiet and secluded but has so much to offer. Kitchen was well equipped and all rooms very comfortable.
Check in process was very easy, and only a short drive to the town Kangaroo Valley.

Hi John, thank you for your review. We hope that you found the wonderful Kangaroo Valley shops that are only a 10 minute drive away into town! We hope to see you back soon.
Spacious home, great views although we didn’t see the cows grazing from our windows as on the website. Good quality linen and comfortable beds. Kitchen could be better stocked with a few extras for example platters salad bowl and cheese knives, unfortunately the dishwasher did not work effectively and the BBQ was not clean. Child friendly, loved collecting the eggs and feeding the horses and seeing the occasional kangaroo and wombat. Great family getaway next time will take loads of insect repellent as the flies were relentless. Was surprised there was no wifi included, selection of DVDs were good especially when our grandson needed rest time. Overall a very relaxing and peaceful time with the family.
Great house for a family get together, Very clean. well equipped, comfortable beds good linen and towels.
Lovely grounds , the hen house and collecting eggs was a hit with the grandchildren,
The pool is handy and a good size.
Unfortunately we had atrocious weather but the house coped well with our group of 10.
BBQ was a good size perhaps being undercover could be a benefit.
Would definitely recommend this property.
The property was greatly maintained and in a fantastic location. It was kind of location we were looking for and throughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you for having us.
