Nestled in a tropical established garden, with secure, automatic European sliding gates, under cover off street parking, Shirley Blue is a quaint whalers cottage steeped in Byron's rich history.
Shirley Blue is in the perfect position to enjoy the best of Byron Bay on foot, without need of a car, and then be able to escape to a well-hidden quiet secluded spot. Shirley is positioned only blocks from the centre of town, stroll along the bike path at the rear, next to the nature reserve. A 5 min amble takes you to the weekly, Thursday morning Fresh Produce markets. Another block and you are right in town, taking advantage of the famous monthly Byron Bay markets. The 'dog beach' - Belongil Beach is two blocks and a hop across the railway line. Shirley Blue is pet friendly, by prior arrangement and an additional charge.
Shirley Blue offers a fully fenced tropical garden with an ambient large outdoor cabana and dining area for those relaxing barbecues with family & friends.
The established rainforest garden offers pockets of tranquil shade , from the afternoon western sun. with the emphasis on outdoor living.The cottage is surrounded by verandahs appointed with 5 couches & 2 sunlounges ensuring a quiet corner for all guests to escape with a book or take time out for that all important, undisturbed siesta.
There is an outside bath on the deck for some serious relaxation. There is also a outside hot and cold outdoor shower positioned in the rainforest to wash off the salt and sand from the beach.

Shirley Blue offers the house & fully self contained studio. Both have been recently renovated and tastefully decorated with an interesting diverse range of furniture & quirky art objects, by the owners of Country Eclectic Antiques, in Sydney's inner west.
The house has 3 bedrooms and sleeps 6 people, with 2 x queen beds and 2 x sgl beds in 3rd bedroom.
It features the following:
* Fully airconditioned - house & studio
* Complimentary WiFi

* Modern stainless steel kitchen with European appliances
* Newly renovated ensuite bathroom
* Modern bathroom with separate bath.
* Polished Timber Floors
* Open lounge room opens onto deck & grassed backyard.

* The two main bedrooms each have a wall mounted TV.

* Leather couches.
* We are pet friendly by prior arrangement, we need to know the breed of the dog and we generally only take 1 dog and there is a dog charge.

The studio sleeps 2 and features the following:
* fully furnished, airconditioner and has its own kitchen & ensuite bathroom

There are several relaxing areas including the main Cabana with 6 Burner stainless beefeater Barbecue and 10 seater farmhouse table, perfect for outdoor entertaining.

Enjoy Shirley Blue, however please be respectful of our neighbours.
* Byron Bay has a ‘No Party Policy, please use the house for rest & relaxation.
* There is to be strictly no excessive noise from both the outside and inside areas, including the cabana area after 9.00pm.
* One warning will be issued for any breach, any subsequent breach, the premises must be immediately vacated and no refund of security bond shall be given.
We do take Schoolies at Shirley Blue.
For all Peak periods our cancellation policy is deposits are not refundable, unless Shirley Blue can be re-booked for the period.

Gate entry won’t shut Front screen door won’t close Toilet seat in main needs tightening Smoke alarm not replaced since 2016 Battery beeping 2 deliveries whilst there and one disappeared from in house Toaster not working Electrical output near bin not working Light in bathroom flickering Oven doesn’t work as you can’t read settings and no manual to refer to. Plant in garage scratched car & one person Bed in studio unsafe and unstable The owner accessed the property and walked through a number of times to walk her dogs in full view of the outdoor bath. Head down and did not look at us. Manager said it was a friend who didn’t know the house was booked but we had our 2 cars in the carport that she walked straight past. Very disappointing experience in multiple ways!

Great Location

The house is situated in a quiet lane with very little through traffic so it was very peaceful. It is only a short walk to the centre of Byron and also to the beach. We had our dog with us so it was great to be able to take him to Belongil Beach which is beautiful and dog friendly. The house and garden are as in the photos and the kitchen is very well equipped. We had a lovely relaxing stay here and would recommend the property to other families.

Shirley Blue short stay.

The house was very cute. Close to town although having to cross Shirley street was sometimes busy. The bedroom doors did not close well. Messages were answered very quickly and questions answered. We enjoyed our stay.

Great stay

We had a lovely stay at Shirley Blue. We were 4 single women and it was perfect for coming together but also finding spaces to get away from it all. We came in winter and the house is lovely and cosy, but I would love to go back in summer and make use of the various outdoor places to hang out and relax. Communication with the manager was very good and responsive. The position is great, a short walk to the beach and the main Byron shop, but still really quiet. And it's a little bit before town so you don't have to negotiate the traffic. I highly recommend this property.

Great location / comfortable house

We had six adults sharing the house and self contained studio. The house was well furnished and we loved the garden - so nice and cool and very tranquil. Awesome location - 5 min walk to the dog beach and into Main Street. Easy kitchen to cook in. Only downside was a neighbour complained to the owner about our two dogs barking for 15-20 min when we left them at home at 11am. The owner was quite stressed about this, which in turn stressed us. We thought the neighbours were quite unreasonable and didn’t understand why the owner took it so seriously when there was nothing in the terms and conditions about noise during the day. If your dogs do this when left alone I wouldn’t recommend staying for this reason.

The different spaces throughout the garden and the property were great. The only thing that was a problem was the ants. Understandably this is a tropical area and the weather with rain forecast didn't help but the ants were a continual nuisance through the lounges etc. Other than that Kate was a delight to deal with and we loved the place/

Charming cottage

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Shirley Blue. The cottage was superbly located within walking distance of Belongil Beach and Byron Bay shops, with a bike track at the rear leading all the way into town. My teenage boys had fun walking about, skateboarding and surfing while we enjoyed reading and relaxing around the house and garden. The house is a charming whalers' cottage tastefully decorated with antiques and quirky second hand furniture, slightly rustic but the photos don't do it justice. Kitchen equipment is basic but there is a fantastic BBQ and all perfectly adequate to rustle up a salad. Some more cutlery, a sharp knife and a really good mop of the floors and we'd give it 5 stars.

The photos don't do it justice, there are so many interesting pieces of art in this place and such an amazing location right near both shops and beach. only thing i suggest is bring plenty of tioletries as they provide little by the way of toilet paper, soap etc.

Shirley Blue unique benefit is its location to the town centre and the beach. You can park your car & not need it again. Shirley lane is one of the network of laneways that cross the the old original part of byron bay. Experience all that byron has to offer, beachs, arts, music, crafts by easy walk, or cycle, catch the bus to Nimbin for a part of byrons past history. The new byron train service station is only 150m walk and takes you on a 7 min ride to the arts and industrial estate and Elements resort area.
