Thanks Teri for taking the time to review your stay. You nailed it: Those that truly LOVE nature find the home perfect for their tropical vacation. The open floorplan for the kitchen, dining and sitting areas immerses you in the jungle with constant views of gardens and wildlife. While the bedrooms are all closed, there are ample windows to increase airflow and expose you to the views. I'm sorry you experienced the neighbor's new pup barking. We were disrupted by it too, but have found that it has calmed down over the last months. Apparently he has learned to share the jungle with the nighttime visits from the kinkajous, raccoons, and anteaters. So glad you enjoyed the location, our local food, and the unique vibe of Puerto Viejo.

I enjoyed you and your family immensely, and am honored that you chose our home for your special family adventure. I have you all in my thoughts.

It was so nice having your family stay in our home. Hearing the laughter through the jungle, and the occasional shreak of excitement, too! We are so privileged that this neighborhood has a common value of preserving the trees, allowing for the monkeys and sloths to be so available. The habitat is so important to the hundreds of species of birds, butterflies and curious insects which never cease to amaze/amuse me.

When we were building out the property, one of the things we kept forefront, was that people want to socialize and play and be in a comfortable place together... but also have space without being isolated! So the design had to offer space to be en masse, as well as space to be involved but apart. I love the options in the rancho/pool area, be nearby, but free to read a book and not miss the fun. I'm so glad that worked for your group!!

It was a pleasure to meet you and your friends. I'm so glad your birthday trip was the joy-filled experience you hoped and planned for. We hope to see all of you again someday!

It was almost a year ago John and his group visited, I still remember his smile. It is so rewarding to watch people come for a get-away"and feel like they've found where they belong. It's what drew us to Costa Rica 21 times between 2004 and 2010!

Thanks Jon for the fair review. We were in the US during your stay, but we did hear constant reports of how unseasonably HOT and DRY it was for so long. I'm sorry I missed the snorkeling! That is a beautiful reef just steps from the house, isn't it?! I understand your friend's difficulty with the heat, fitting for those from cool climes, all the local extrajanos were complaining. We made a decision during development of the property to build as ecologically sensitive as we could; preserving trees, using energy efficient methods, and as you point out, no air conditioning. Very few people find they need it, and usually the overhead fans are sufficient. In my absence, I regret I did not instruct to offer your friends additional floor fans during the hottest days. We are glad you enjoyed the property and found it fit well for your group's needs. We hope we'll have the pleasure to host you again.

YES! You nailed it--monkeys, sloths and macaws! You can buy a good bed, find a great beach, and all that, but to have the experience of just chillin' any time of day (or night!) and have the wildlife seemingly perform for you is AMAZING. I'm so pleased to see you describe our home as "A happy place". Though I don't get to spend much time on this property, even today doing some garden maintenance, I was reminded how magical it can be. It was a real treat to be here when a troop of Spider Monkeys brought their high wire act through the property!
