Ida bay cottage

This cottage was perfect, we all enjoyed our short stay here. The cottage had the advantage of being wheelchair accessible.

Hi Cathy, Glad that you and your group enjoyed your visit to Buttongrass Retreat. Yes, although not full wheelchair certified, it is accessible for most wheelchair users. Now that you have visited once, you can probably see that this eco-cabin is best enjoyed for a multi night stay so you have time to really relax, explore and experience nature of Far South Tasmania. See you again maybe? Thanks for visiting

Great location and stunning view

This property was perfectly isolated and away from it all. Great access after our visit to the local caves. We have never stayed in an 'eco' house and found some of the features difficult to get used to, but we indeed felt very kind to the environment! Stunning views.

One night away

We picked the property because of its location, we both love buttongrass so it was nice to see someone with an expansive property left to its own devices and not ruining the landscape. Instructions were very clear and even thoigh we both live rurally and have woodheaters, the fact that the fire was set when we got there was a lovely surprise. Having been accommodation for over 10 yeara things are obviously a little worn but that didnt hamper our short stay at all. Would definitely return!

G'Day Nikki, Thanks for visiting Buttongrass Retreat. Your comments will help other people who appreciate nature to choose this cabin in a natural landscape for their break. Yes, during construction, we took great pains to preserve the native mooreland, with its views to the southwest wilderness.

Isolated wilderness

Great hut in the middle of nowhere. Actually pretty close, ~400m to road and other houses, but you really feel like you have checked out from society. Information on the property talks about limited electricity, but that does not include the fridge which works all the time. There is also a glass BBQ and outdoor table. There is also an outdoor bath tub. Great base for exploring the south east. Only 10mins from Hasting Caves. Highly recommend.

Hi Kellie, Glad that you enjoyed the "...million dollar views..." at Buttongrass Retreat. Those mountains are the southernmost in Australia and are often snow capped in winter. Glad that you enjoyed being off grid also. We look forward to seeing you again at Buttongrass Retreat sometime soon Paul D
