Private Log Lodge Nestled In Chippewa National Forest On Secluded Lake.
Nestled in the Chippewa National Forest 3 1/2 hours north of the Twin Cities and 5 minutes out of Remer is 17 acres with a handscribed log lodge on Upper Milton Lake waiting for you to come relax and enjoy nature. It is a birdwatcher’s paradise with eagles, osprey, herons, bitterns and many other songbirds calling it home. The North Country National Scenic Trail intersects the driveway lending access to miles of trails and wilderness where you’ll find wildflowers, berries, grouse, woodcock, deer, bear, and timber wolves. Whether you want to cast a line off the floating dock in everyone’s “secret” fishing lake, gather around the campfire watching the northern lights or sit cozily inside by the fireplace this Northwood’s retreat is the place for you.
Amenities: Come get away from it all.. The log lodge was built in the 1980’s by the owner and her husband with the logs taken from the land on which the house stands. The shoreline with its water lilies floating alongside the dock was left natural so all could enjoy the way nature intended it to be. New Screenhouse with lakeview being constructed!
The Lodge is 2 ½ story walkout with deck around the main level. The upper loft is a bedroom with a queen-size bed, futon, and twin bed overlooking the living room and a panoramic view of the lake. The main floor has an open floor plan with kitchen, dining room and living room. The gas fireplace is ready with a flick of a switch. There is also a bedroom with twin beds and a full bath on this floor. A spiral staircase leads to the lower level that has a bedroom with queen-size bed, a family room with a futon, full bathroom with shower, kitchen, and laundry room.
Down at the lake is a floating dock with a Otter Island Swim raft, along with a new aluminum paddle boat, 3 kayaks, child kayak, 2 paddle boards and a 12 ft aluminum row boat.

Private, serene, classic log cabin that is perfect for a family with kids. We really enjoyed the floating swim raft, all the water toys (four kayaks, three stand-up paddle boards, canoe, row boat, paddle/peddle boat), the fire pit, yard games, and being able to bring our dogs. We had such a wonderful stay, would definitely stay again!

This is our second time staying, and it was just as great this time! The house is super clean, easily fits 6 adults (with room for more), and provides tons of activities. This is the perfect place to relax and unplug. The lake is gorgeous, quiet, easy to access, and the provided paddle boards/kayaks/row boats are super fun. We enjoyed the fire pit and star gazing in the evenings. Our dog came with us this time and she had a blast too! Highly recommend!

Thank you so much!!! You were great guests! We try to have the home feel like your own!
The cabin is beautiful and in a serene location. The amenities are perfect; lots to do and very comfortable for a family of 6 plus 2 dogs for 3 days. We appreciated being able to have our dogs with us. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. The kitchen was well-appointed and there were lots of games, movies, and toys to enjoy. The kids liked boating, attempting to fish, and exploring the trails with their bikes. Plenty of towels, kitchen supplies (including gas grill), pillows, life jackets, lawn games, firewood, etc.

House was just as advertised. Very clean and fully stocked. There were lots of yard games, water toys, etc. The weather wasnt super cooperative but the house was large enough to have everyone inside and not feel cramped. The host has truly thought of everything! Our family will definitely be back.

Thanks for taking the time to review and comment on our Log house. Love to have you back. Eileen and Ed
We had an amazing stay. Cabin was warm and cozy- snowed every day. Our “family walks” around the lake, walking the trails with the dogs, our trip to Remer, Black Friday shopping in Grand Rapids at Glen’s Army Navy and we won at the northern lights casino. It was a wonderful family thanksgiving spot!!

We are repeat guests. We love this place! Every year is a great experience. The property is clean and well stocked. The location is amazing. The lake only has 2 houses on it, so the lake scene is very quiet. Great place for families to kick back and relax.

About the host

In 1980, my husband, Roger and I moved north to fulfill our dream of living in the north woods. We lived in a tepee until the end of Oct. while we attempted our first construction project of building the basement for our to be log home. We had many friends come and help. It took many years to complete the log house as we had minimal money and equipment. The logs are from the property and were all hand peeled by myself while pregnant! We basically lived off the land eating fish, venison, rabbit, and all organic garden produce. Sadly my husband, Roger, passed away in 2006 from cancer. I dam attempting to keep this piece of my heart so turned it into a vacation rental to cover the costs of owning it. I have since married a wonderful man, Ed, who also lost his wife to cancer. I had to move north to Squaw Lake as we run a 1000 hive apiary. We live in another beautiful home that Ed and his wife, Nancy, built. Keeping bees keeps us busy!
Why they chose this property
We loved the solitude and abundance of wildlife that is out our door.
What makes this property unique
A crafted by hand log home that is set back in the woods on a secluded bay of Milton Lake that abounds with wildlife.
