What a great shack. We had a fantastic stay. Will definitely be back. Would be great if they put up a little fencing for kids and dogs but other than that it really was great.
The property was as expected, a nice sized 4 bedroom shack 😊 all the bedding was nice and clean!! Loved the layout of the house and we were nice and close to the beach. Flies are a bit of a problem that side of Eyre, we will be better prepared next time!!
This property is idyllic, isolated and peaceful with the beach right on your doorstep.
Fishing would be amazing if you had a boat.
The town has very few houses and makes you feel like you’re the only person there.
There is a business in town that takes you to sea lions and dolphins in their natural habitat without interfering with their environment.
Absolutely loved my time there, the 4 bedroom house has everything you could possibly need for your stay.
We have stayed here before and we had a great time. Plenty of room in the house. Nice big undercover veranda with fire so a great place to sit around and have meals. It’s a fishing shack so it’s not fancy, plenty of beds and a big sitting room..we took everything that we thought we might need. Take mozzie repellant or a net ( some of the fly screens need replacing )
Fishing was good and the coastline is stunning.
We had our dogs with us the outside is not fenced but ours are happy on a long lead.
We look forward to staying again.
need fixing

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
a basic late 1970 fishing cabin . with no interior upgrades.
Baird Bay is fantastic holiday destination. With lots to see and do. The carpets MUST go !!! Making it easy to keep clean and no funny smells .. Bathroom ( Mainly shower ) needs to be upgraded. !! Drains Unblocked . Bed Mattress could do with an upgrade . Also a fenced area from back entrance to side where the clothes line is would be a good idea as its a pet friendly place . just to keep Ather dogs coming in and pooping . But overall we had a wonderful time Thank you

Hi, thanks for comments, all of the above issues you have detailed are noted and are on the to do list. I have recently given it a good clean and unblocked the drains, but understand the bathroom good do with a make over, carpets could come up, Some of the mattresses could be replaced, a fence has been discussed recently and would add some privacy and keep the neighbours dogs and native wildlife out.
Thanks all noted and upgrades will happen when time permits, its still a shack, hence the name anglers anchorage.
Thankyou for staying.
Great location for fishing Baird and the surrounding area
Has everything you need to be comfortable on your trip away. Has a shower, A/C, washing machine, oven and all the cooking gear you need, pergola and fish cleaning area. Drag your kayak across the road to the beach and enjoy catching King George first cast along with some good size trevally and salmon trout. Close to Sceale bay ( also good fishing) and streaky bay is not far either. We used this as a base for fishing the coast from Baird up, aswell as kayaking, snorkeling the Granites north of Baird, site seeing including the seal colony 20 mins away and 4x4 in the dunes. Murphy's haystack is 15km away also. Hope to return again

Hi Cameron, You are welcome back anytime, so glad you caught some fish out of the Kayak, its a lot of fun fishing from Kayaks at Baird Bay, always some degree of shelter from the wind.
Thanks

Liked: Location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Cleanliness
Disappointed
Was contacted before we checked in and warned that the place might be messy.
And messy it was.
The place was full of blowflies. Dead and alive, under the pergola was full of dead leaves and weeds. No maintenance had been done prior to our visit. We spent the first 2 hours cleaning the house up to a livable standard. The toilet didn't work. Both gas bottles to the BBQ were empty. (Lucky we brought our own)
The water pump blew up and we were without water for a couple of days. (Purely bad luck, I admit.)
I even tried to contact the owner after our stay, and give him an update on the house, and he didn't have the decency to get back to me.
Disappointed.

Yes you were contacted days before your stay and warned that know one had been there for 2-3 months and no one was available at that time. Most of the negative you have detailed in your review you were warned about in detail days before arriving. You could have found other accommodation, but I guess the price and locality was still an advantage for you.
I am surprised you didn't call me about the issues you had, I would have listened, helped and likely reduced the price since you spent 2 hrs cleaning.
I have no answer for a house full of blow fly's, they live out in the bush and if a window gets left open they come in out of the heat is my only explanation, like I told you no one was available to do a check and clean through before you arrived. The toilet had calcified over the outlet in the toilet cistern, the ground water is hard and rough on the toilet pipes. No one was available to check.
Gas bottles are the hardest to manage, for the interest of everyone if you are booked to stay and you have room for a spare gas bottle then please bring it. There are two bottles pad locked to two barbeques, so they can no longer be stolen, but they often are drained and not refilled. Very hard to keep them filled up. Nearest service centre for gas bottles is Streaky Bay and its very frustrating when there is no gas.
As far as decency goes I was speaking to you prior to your stay and gave you plenty of warning, I know that you are familiar with the area and am surprised by your review as I told you about this prior to your stay. You sent me an email a week and half after you vacated, letting me know about the same issues you put in the review, the same issues I already had warned you about. Something is not computing here. I did send you a follow up email a week and half after receiving your emailed report. I think the comment about being having decency is out of context. I have now sent you another follow up email after reading your review. I am taking the opportunity to quote your closing paragraph emailed to me about your stay at Baird Bay - Anglers Anchorage for other concerned readers. So hopefully put their accommodation concerns at ease.:
*****Other than that, we had a great stay. The weather was magic for the first 2 days. We managed to get onto some fish and found a couple of crayfish. So the freezer will look healthy once again. You really got yourself a slice of paradise down there.
Thanks once again!

Jet.
20/2/2022 - For all those concerned about some cleanliness issues highlighted in a couple of reviews to date at Anglers Anchorage. A cleaner / housekeeper has been located, who now checks in frequently to give it the once over. Thankyou and happy holidays.
One good stay experience in Baird Bay. Very nice house, but need to be air conditioned while house
Need to be aircoditioned
Response from VrboOwner on 27 Jan 2021
The kitchen and dining area are air conditioned, the air conditioner is not capable to cool down the whole home, but can be managed well enough to give relief from hot conditions and remain comfortable in some rooms. Thankyou for your review. Please remember that the caretaker and I are always immediately contactable for any issue you have during your stay.
Anglers Anchorage was a great shack for a family. Everything was there that you needed, great outdoor area for dining and relaxing. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen very well stocked. The owner and caretaker were great to deal with and helpful- even letting us use the canoe . Great holiday!

Fantastic family who visited from Melbourne, Victoria. Glad they had a great holiday. It was a pleasure to have them stay at Anglers Anchorage.
A very basic beach shack. One road back from beach. Care taker was friendly and had a nice long chat. I'd suggest bringing all your own cleaning basics and food. Linen is offered for a fee but I'd prefer to bring my own. Also if you can bring a kayak as it's great water to kayak on.
This property was filthy. It smelt mildest. There were coffee and tomatoe sauce spills on the floor. No internet. Toilet did not flush and is now blocked. Used toothpaste packet in the shower. Dirty face washer in the hand basin. Cobwebs every where. Furniture very outdated, and rickety. Not happy with how we were billed. Charged for an extra person? Charged for our dog? All extras we weren’t aware of until we paid and saw receipt. Will not use this property or recommend it for a dog to live in . Absolutely disgusting!!!!

Some mothers have them! There is nothing I can do about you being overcharged now, the booking was made through this website by yourself, if you ticked you had a dog and an extra person, I fail to see how this is someone else's problem. You could have rang or texted me! You had my number and the caretakers number if you had problems, e.g. the toilet water was turned off at valve or the mobile phone / wireless internet system needed turning on, you could have contacted us at any stage. The coffee and tomato drops on the floor, empty toothpaste box and face washer left from previous occupant, may have been overlooked by the caretaker during his frequent inspections and clean. This is a remote site there are only 2 permanent residents in Baird Bay, so a lot of trust is placed on occupants to leave the shack as they found it. I do not care to make comment about the other extremely harsh remarks you have made, it seems to me that being overcharged, which was your own mistake and was the onset of a barrage of very nasty comments. This occupant had every opportunity to contact either myself or the caretaker by mobile phone for any issues during their stay, The caretaker lives 20 mins away and is always quick to respond to any issues like this traveller seemingly had. But this occupant who booked one night, prefers to go on an unreasonable verbal rampage. This review was a complete surprise and should be considered to be completely unreasonable as other travellers reviews can contest. I have found this travellers comments completely unjustified and very offensive to say the least. We always immediately go out of our way to help travellers with any issues that they may have during their stay. I would not recommend this traveller be allowed to stay at your property, unless of course you have the very latest in new furniture and all screws are fully tightened up, but be prepared to also let the dog also use your new furniture. This is a joke and can only laugh at this review and hopefully future travellers can see through this previous occupants abusive rant. Anglers Anchorage is a family friendly retreat in a remote area, it is does not have all the modern designer creature comforts of a brand new apartment in the city and yes it may have a cobweb here and there, spiders are part of nature and the shack is located in a natural environment, you may have to brush some of your fastidious and fussy tendencies aside if staying at Anglers Anchorage. 99% of travellers have a great stay, excepting this traveller. I can only hope that future travellers can see past this obstructive and unwarranted review.

Easter getaway
Heating and cooling wasn't very sufficient. As lounge got very hot during the day and little airflow. Was well equipt cutlery etc. States as pet friendly but no fencing to keep pet in and rules are for pets to remain outdoors so dog had to remain tied up unfortunately.
Nice quite location.
