About this property
Le Grand Chalet in Serre Chevalier: 420 m², summer pool, sauna and billiards
Mountain and large spaces: 420 m² for 10/18 people. This stunning architect chalet is for rent. It combines the charm of the big traditional mountain houses with the modern conveniences of luxury chalets. For a successful holiday, it is essential that your family and friends enjoy a living environment with exceptional spaces and volumes. Come discover that for architects, luxury is space. It is one of the assets of Le Grand Chalet with its authenticity. “Le Grand Chalet” is aptly named because you will not lack space in this huge house of almost 500 m². Your family and friends, children and adults, will quickly find their feet for an exceptional stay. In addition, you will appreciate the 100 m² South-exposed larch terrace. In front of you, there are panoramic views of the entire resort of Serre Chevalier, from the foothills of Briançon in the East to the Col du Lautaret in the West. Enjoy the infrared sauna to reduce stress or a billiards game between friends: enjoy your holidays. There is a 4x9 m pool in the chalet and it is available during the entire summer. It is equipped with a heat pump as well as a safety rolling shutter, a solar shower and a large 120 m² natural stone terrace. The chalet of the Guisane, river that flows in the valley and that empties into the Durance River in Briançon, is made of stone and larch wood and is composed of 3 levels for 430 m² on a huge 6000 m² fully fenced wooded park with remote-controlled gate. Built by Henri Colboc, Grand Prix de Rome, to make it its secondary mountain residence, it is a huge warm and welcoming house where it is pleasant to live. It is equipped with infrared sauna which is ideal to relax after a day of skiing, mountain hiking or mountain biking and a pool table. Ground floor: huge entrance with hall, vestibule with 4-seat infrared sauna and pool table, boiler room, 2 separate bedrooms with 2 shower rooms to the left of the entrance, huge cupboard to store clothes and shoes for around 20 guests, outbuildings, storage spaces and garage for 2 vehicles to the right of the entrance with automatic doors. First floor: accessible by a semi-circular staircase. Above the 2 ground floor bedrooms, there is a large study with Wi-Fi Internet connection, a bedroom, a shower room and a laundry room. The rest of the 130 m² first floor is the living space: the fireplace area, composed of pink sandstone millstone that serves as firebox, double-wall sheet metal hood and circular grill, configures the layout of the television living area as well as the huge bow-window living area on one side and the dining room and its huge oak table adjacent to the kitchen and the pantry on the other side. This living space opens onto a huge 100 m² terrace. Second floor: opening onto a Mezzanine with original balustrade, 4 bedrooms including a master bedroom with Spa bath and shower cubicle, 1 with double bed and 2 large attic bedrooms for children, teens or adults according to your need and equipped with 3 or 4 single beds. These 3 bedrooms have a shower room with toilet. A television area for children by the Mezzanine completes the equipment on this floor accessible via a circular staircase decorated by a Polish artist, a friend of the architect. The balustrade of the Mezzanine with irregular design to avoid monotony is made of white lacquered sandblasted pine wood just like the ceilings which accentuate the brightness of the place. The sleeping area consists in total of 7 bedrooms with 5 double beds, 8 single beds and 5 shower rooms. Balconies and terraces offer this huge mountain house a convivial atmosphere opening onto the outside while preserving inside very nice volumes bathed in light and warmth. The living area is around 430 m² for a total surface of 500 m². Equipment: central heating, panoramic fireplace, La Cornue cooker, 2 ovens (1 gas and 1 electric), microwave, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, home cinema, USB DivX DVD player, television, video recorder, Wi-Fi connection and infrared sauna. In addition to the 2 garages with remote-controlled automatic gates, the fully fenced garden with remote-controlled gate offers outdoors parking spaces for 6 vehicles. It is located at the edge of the old village of La Salle-les-Alpes and 5 minutes from the slopes. Both in winter and summer, the region has everything to seduce you. Huge ski area (Serre Chevalier) with 250 km of slopes for all levels and all sorts of winter sports and 45 km of cross-country skiing, you will never have enough time to visit them all. There are very beautiful villages with rich, simple and rustic mountain heritage. Well worth visiting and revisiting. There are 3 traditional museums and museum of holy art. There is a dynamic night life with restaurants with cosy atmosphere or very lively bars, Jazz or Gospel Festival, cabaret nights, theatres, shows or concerts. You are in the heart of the Alps, the Massif des Ecrins as well as the Parc National des Ecrins are nearby. Beautiful walks are possible. It is a place with very pure air and Mediterranean climate (300 sunny days per year). There is a nearby pool in Villeneuve and Chantemerle in summer but also during all seasons, both in summer and winter. It is 8 km from the aquatic park of Briançon to the East or Les Grands Bains du Monêtier to the West (built on a natural 45° hot spring, the building fully made of wood and glass spreads over 4500 m² and shelters a splendid waterbody). The 2 centres offer leisure pools, sauna, hammam, Spas, slides, solarium, etc. to share in family. The Massif des Ecrins as well as the Parc National des Ecrins are very close. Vallée de la Clarée, many walks and discoveries, white water sports, discovery of the wild fauna and flora of the Alps, Southern sun, Provence is very close but also Italy, etc. For further information about the region, please visit the Internet website of Serre-Chevalier and Briançon.

Fantastic chalet in a great location. We were three families and the accommodation worked brilliantly well. Busy days enjoying the mountains followed by a glass of wine next to the pool in the early evening. We loved it

Stunning large property in great location
We were a group of 5 families with children travelling from South Africa. What a prefect property! It was large enough to comfortably accommodate all of us with plenty of different areas to relax for the different age groups. The extra long dining room table and huge open fire were an absolute hit and the beautiful views across the valley were incredible. The property was well maintained and was equipped with everything we could wish for. The customer service from both the owner and the property manager was excellent though we did lose a bit in translation as only one person in our group could speak fluent French to the manager :) We loved Le Grand Chalet and can't wait to return there.

Thank you for your very warm appreciation.
It is a pleasure to welcome travelers from across the world and I am very glad you enjoyed your stay in the "grand chalet", as our beautiful region of the Southern Alps.
Best regards.

Response from VrboOwner on 4 Mar 2025

This house is truly amazing
An absolutely massive house suitable for multiple familes. Private driveway with double garage and plenty more room to park cars outside. We used the study as a bedroom making a total of 8. Numerous bathrooms, a swimming pool, sauna and snooker table make it extremely comfortable when your in the house. A whole corridor on the bottom floor to store all your ski equipment although we kept our stuff in the garage as we only had one car.
Easy check in and check out and the owner and host are very accommodating!
5* and would definitely stay again if the rest of my friends haven't already booked it for themselves!

superbe
Response from VrboOwner on 25 Mar 2020

Response from VrboOwner on 25 Mar 2020

Response from VrboOwner on 25 Mar 2020
