The area in known for Macheras Monastery, Fikardou UNESCO Heritage Village, Ais-Ampelis Winery, its numerous picturesque small mountain villages, and its superb moderate Mediterranean climate. At Klirou Village Square one can find a convenience store, bakery, a small grocery and supermarket store, a bank, ATM, a pharmacist, a petrol station, a barber and hairdresser shops, a butcher, a tailor, a couple of cafes, a betting place, a few take away grill stores, and of course the Church, the Municipality Hall and the traditional kafeneio (coffee-shops).
