Beaches: Forty kilometers of glorious sandy beaches at La Rochelle and Royan are just over one hour’s drive away as is the Gironde estuary with its charming fishing villages. Both are recommended resorts for day visits. The shopping in La Rochelle is particularly good as are the restaurants.
