Sunny mansard in the heart of Old Town

For centuries space used to be an attic warehouse with 15th century wooden beams kept exposed and integrated into interior. It has been refurbished in 90ties into a one bedroom living space but has kept the rustic character and feel of an original warehouse. Historically building belonged to land property with 6 residential buildings constructed in 14-19 century. Of which the 14th century stone building with our attic appartment is the only one that survived from the medieval Russian trade settlement. In 1537 when it re-appeared in Riga real estate book entries, it was marked as Ernst van Mengden's residential building. Mengdens (German: von Mengden) is an ancient Baltic German family known in Livonia since the 15th century and was recorded in Vidzeme and Estonia Knighthood's matricula.
