About this property

Lorondale Homestead

Lorondale Homestead has been held in the same farming family since being built in 1904. This large rustic farm house sits in the middle of the farm with its nearest neighbour being over a kilometre away.

The homestead boasts large bedrooms and spacious living areas and comfortably sleeps 4 couples with maximum beds for 11. Some of the bedding configurations can be changed to suit your preference and pets are allowed by negotiation.

There are two large living rooms, one of which is set up as a dining room with seating for 12 and the other as a lounge room with couches and a sunny window seat. There is also a cosy library/sitting room with a wide selection of books to read and some of the family and farming history available.

Situated between the popular wine regions of Clare and Barossa Valley, and only an hour from Adelaide, the homestead is secluded enough for a relaxing stay and close enough for day visits to wineries or cycling trips.

Full bedding, linen, towels, bath mats and tea towels are provided for your stay.

Lorendale is a fabulous place to stay if you have a large family and or travelling with a few families or group. Lots of space with lots of charm and history - great that it’s not far from Adelaide but still feels like your miles away with lots of country fields surrounding the property. We loved the indoor and outdoor fires, the different sitting rooms, games room with table tennis and the large dining room / which was perfect for us to host our Xmas in July dinner. Thanks for having us and we look forward to returning next year.

Private and peaceful, beautiful views, spacious for groups, lovely garden, fire places and a working pianola! What a treat! Possums, kangaroos, and sheep were among the wildlife we saw (an actual bunny at Easter was pretty magical!) Host was very gracious in receiving feedback and I have confidence that if anyone needed help, they would do their best. Really enjoyed reading the history of the place and wish them all the best with their project!

Lorondale Homestead was built for my great, great grandfather. The surrounding farm has been in my family since 1866 and is now being farmed by my brother and his son. I inherited the homestead in 2004 and lived there with my family until 2015. After renting it out for a while I decided, in 2020, it would be better to keep it as a tourism rental. Sharing it with others has been a great way for me to be able to continue to repair it and for Lorondale to retain its history.
