This property was perfect for our group of six spending a week in Banff. The home was luxurious and comfortable with a great mountain view. The location in a quiet neighborhood a short walk from town allowed us to come and go easily without the hassle of driving and parking. It really was an exceptional property and we recommend it!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Black Bear Chalet! The accommodations were great for our group of 5 adults. The house was a few minutes walk from all of the shops and restaurants as well as the Tunnel Mountain trail which offered great views of Banff. We were centrally located to many activities like white water rafting, horse back riding and the Lakes and Trails. We used the buses to get to some activities but having a parking spot was very helpful. Sonja made us feel right at home from the beginning with her welcome gift of local treats! She provided great tips and was available for any questions. We would definitely come back to Sonja’s the next time we visit!

This is the ideal place to stay for a Banff vacation. There were 5 of us and we had plenty of room. The place is very clean and they've thought of everything you could want in the place. We will absolutely stay here again when we return to Banff. The location is walking distance to everything in Banff and includes parking! We didn't have to drive anywhere to get to the main downtown part of Banff. I highly recommend.

Everyone in our party of 6 loved this house! The location is perfect! So, so close to everything! We walked to the restaurants, shops, Grocery Store, galleries, hikes, The Gardens, the kayak rentals, and the public bus to go to Sunshine Village and Lake Louise. 3 big bedrooms, and 3 full baths, perfect for groups. The big deck, with great views of the mountains, was a great place for morning coffee and evening cocktails. The fireplace was a cozy touch on chilly evenings. We were worried about not having an oven, but it was no problem at all. And finally, the host, Sonja, was quick to answer all of our questions and requests. The home is welcoming and had everything we needed. If back in Banff, this is where we will stay again. So much better than getting 3 hotel rooms.

This luxury chalet is extraordinarily comfortable, convenient, and well stocked with many special touches. This home base was in a perfect location for all our activities in Banff, Moraine Lake and Lake Louise, and the Icefields Parkway. Sonja was very friendly and helpful; check-in and check-out were remarkably easy. We hope to be able to stay here again in the future.

Simply WOW!!

This property was exactly what we were looking for!! Such a beautiful spot, close to everything but quiet and relaxing at the same time. Very well stocked with everything you'll need, along with some very comfy slippers for everyone! A HUGE 'Thanks Again' for having us, Peter and Sonja :) Cheers.

Perfect Location, Perfect House

What you see is what you get … the VRBO photos probably understate how lovely the decor, layout and cleanliness of the home! They have thought of every “need” detail. The living room and dining table had plenty of room for everyone. Everything was wonderful and very comfortable and the location was only one short block from the downtown area and grocery store. Loved our time at Black Bear! Wonderful!

Cute lodge

The place was well kept and clean. But the surroundings were shabby next door house had windows covered with sheets etc. front area was not kept well it was close to the main market , that was nice. They have electric stove and it was hard to figure it out. Over all we had a good time there

We are sorry you didn’t like the look of our neighbours’ homes. We have very nice families living next to us. Their homes are actually Heritage Homes and on the official Town of Banff list of recommended protected properties. We’re happy you enjoyed your stay with us.

The perfect retreat!! Close to Banff and Bow Walkway

First off, the home is better than the pictures! Loved our stayed! The home is so well appointed with lots of love. Beds are wonderful. Excellent showers. 10 stars!! The location can not be beat!!! Views from every room. 1 block from Banff and 2 blocks from the Bow River! It's also very quiet there. I could go on and on! Spend the $$$ and stay where you'll be comfortable, and close to everything. We never used our car unless we were leaving the area.

Perfect location for experiencing Banff

The second you arrive at the property you immediately know that this home is loved & cared for. Little touches (extra towels, tea, coffee, a book full of local information to help visitors) ensure that you have everything you need for a fabulous stay. Beds were comfortable and living areas were generously sized but still felt cozy. Only a brief 5 minute walk to the Banff Ave where all the shops and restaurants are located and streets were well lit and felt safe. Correspondence with the hosts were seamless. My friends and I enjoyed our stay and have already recommended this home to friends and family considering a trip to the area.

40th anniversary celebration

My husband and I celebrated our 40th anniversary with children and their spouses! It’s a rare event where we are all together these days. House was convenient to everything, beautifully outfitted, and a great place to start a new adventure ever morning! Would definitely recommend it for adult families.

Perfect Banff getaway

Our family loved Black Bear Chalet! The owners were extremely helpful, the apartment was spotless and very well equipped. The common room is filled with light and Mountain views. The location couldn’t have been better: on a quiet street one block off Banff ave and a block from the grocery. This was the ideal Banff lodging for us.

Great location. Very comfortable accommodation.

We loved having the village so close and within easy driving to gondola and hikes. Well furnished with all we needed for coffee and quick breakfast and wine to relax after long day. Fireplace was great since the temps were a little cool. Beds were very comfortable, plenty of pillows, excellent towels and plenty of hot water. We lacked for nothing!
