Great in-town location short walk to beach and restaurants!!!
The Beachcomber II enjoys a great in-town location....steps to the beach, restaurants, entertainment, and shops. We, a non-smoking, family and pet friendly with a fenced yard and a fun playground just through the gate in the backyard.
The Beachcomber II features hardwood floors and soft relaxing colors throughout. You will pass under the dogwood trees through the front door and enter into the sunroom, into a large livingroom with a smart tv; great for streaming. Pick your bedroom and get ready for family meals in the eat-in kitchen. Your choice of bedrooms is a sunny twin room with built-in-bookcases, a master bedroom, with queen bed and private bath or a queen size bedroom across from the second bathroom with tub/shower. So many of our guests love the location; which is what attracted us to the house. They love the access to restaurants, beach and the playground (just out the back gate). We are so glad you enjoyed your stay...please come see us again!

All of us enjoyed our stay. 4 bedrooms, 5 beds, 2 bags. 5 minute walk to beach. Playground right behind house. We are hoping to stay here again in the future. Better than staying in a motel!!!

Perfect location!
The cottage is in a perfect location...we were able to walk to the beach, boardwalk and our favorite restaurant, Densons's. This was a great last minute getaway before the start of school.

We are so glad that you enjoyed your get-away and we hope you will be part of the many visitors who stay with us year after year!
I agree, Denson's is a not to be missed. It is amazing to me the number of great dining options within steps of both Beachcomber I and Beachcomber II. Guests share with us that they enjoy the wide range of dining with-in walking distance, To select from is waterfront at the Riverboat and High Tides, to Thai, to Chinese, to small bistros like the Tides Inn, Densons, and Tattle Tales, and Seafood at Shady Lane. Then, of course, there is the seasonal favorite of Nancy's ice cream!
Again, we hope to see you and your family again soon!

Really enjoyed our stay in Colonial Beach. The house was clean, well stocked and a great location. Our son loved having the playground in the backyard. Would definitely stay here again!

Great location and nice home
This house has the best location! It is right next door to Seaside Thai-French restaurant where we spent a lot of time eating and listening to live music. Other places to eat are right down the street, as it the beach and boardwalk. We would definitely stay here again.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay; I know it was a freezing cold weekend! The location really can't be beat! Just steps away from great restaurants, live entertainment, and beach, but also in the summer many families enjoy the park right out the back gate and ice cream across the street! In the cold of winter it is hard to enjoy the large fenced yard and some of the other treats the house offers; make sure you come back when the dogwood is in bloom! Thanks for staying with us again...hope to see you at this our one of our other Beachcomber Cottages soon! Cathy
We had a wonderful visit! The house is clean, well equipped, and very comfortable! We could walk to everything. We had everything we needed in the kitchen, and the grill was handy, too. A short walk to the beach, and an even shorter walk to the ice cream shops!

Everything we wanted it to be and then some!!
Property was very clean and homey. Proximity to beach and the park next to the back yard was more than a mom with 5 kids could ask for. Thank you very much Cathy B. It was our first time ever renting a home and you made it beautiful!!

We are so glad your family enjoyed their vacation! When we were remodeling the house, I thought to myself, what a great feature to be able to sit at the kitchen table and look out to the park to not only watch your own children play, but also to see any child's delight, playing at the park.
Hope we can see you again soon!

GREAT HOUSE AND LOCATION. HOUSE WAS CLEAN AND AMPLE SPACE FOR OUR GROUP. SHORT WALKING DISTANCE TO THE BEACH. WE HAD OUR DOG WITH US AND FENCED IN BACK YARD WAS A PLUS FOR HIM, ALTHOUGH HE, AS WELL AS US, ENJOYED SITTING IN THE FRONT YARD CHATTING WITH PASSING NEIGHBORS AND VISITORS OF COLONIAL BEACH. EVEN THE LOFT UPSTAIRS WAS KEPT COOL AND COMFORTABLE. WE LISTENED TO THE MUSIC COMING FROM THE BOARD WALK, RENTED A GOLF CART WHICH WAS AWESOME TO EXPLORE THE SURROUNDING AREA. HOST WAS GREAT IN COMMUNICATION, ALTHOUGH WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS AT ALL. ONLY THING WE WOULD RECOMMEND IS MAYBE THINKING ABOUT HAND RAILS IN BATH TUBS FOR THOSE WHO MAY HAVE TROUBLE IN AND OUT OF TUBS FOR SHOWERS. WE DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY TO VISITORS IN THE AREA. WE HAVE ALREADY STARTED TO THINK ABOUT RETURNING LATE AUGUST.

Last Minute Getaway
I contacted Cathy last minute to stay in Colonial Beach for the weekend. She worked with me and made adjustments and arrangements so that my partner and I could enjoy our stay, all while being on a cruise ship! Her dedication to making our trip an easy transition removed a huge burden and allowed us to really enjoy ourselves. It was our first time visiting the little corky town of Colonial Beach. The house was clean with nice size rooms, comfortable beds and linens, enough towels to swim 3x a day, a fully stocked kitchen, and located less than a block from the beach (literally down the street). While there, we went to Denson's (one of Cathy's suggestions) and I literally ate the best crab cake sandwich I'd ever had! The people of Colonial Beach are so nice and inviting. It is definitely one of those towns where everyone waves and says hello. This was a much needed vacation from the hustle and bustle of the DC corporate world. Next time we are renting golf carts! Thank you Cathy for your hospitality.

We are so glad we could get you in for your getaway! We, too, live in the DC area and know what a treat it is to get-away to this quirky, friendly town along the Potomac!
Yes Densons is a favorite, my husband loves the crab cakes...I say they have the best burger I have ever had; not to mention the eclairs...glad you enjoyed.
We are only able to accommodate these last minute requests, because we have a great team of housekeepers and a handyman in town that keep the houses guest ready, all the time.
Thanks for staying and come see us again!
It was a very comfortable cottage for our family. The beach was 1 block away, grocery store 5 minutes away. Fenced in back yard . We ate out 2 nights and the rest of the meals were very comfortable eating in the kitchen. Very easy getting ahold of the landlord if we had questions. Very nice labor day weekend. Would love to stay again
Great Location especially with children and/or dogs
Great Location! Very nice playground and free mini golf at the park behind the house. We often went twice per day. Walking distance to beach, boardwalk, restaurants, brewery, coffee shop. Easy to walk home from the beach for lunch. Cute house - we used all 4 bedrooms. The fenced yard is a definite plus for dogs.
My family of four had the BEST time at this house. The house is big enough for us and a couple of friends to stay in comfortably. The location is perfect for a family, with the playground right behind the house. Also, it is right in the downtown area with short walks (<5 minutes) to restaurants; the boardwalk/beach; and the local park with basketball and tennis courts. We will definitely be looking to stay here in the future!!! Great house!
This house was perfect for 6 of us. House is very well kept. Beds were very comfortable. Love the playground in back yard. We will defiantly go back again.
This property could not be better located as it is near all the best parts of Colonial Beach. It is even walking distance to the beach itself; though, we did use our gold cart because we bring so much stuff! We walked to get ice cream, and dinner and the kids LOVED backing up to the playground. The home itself is adorable and exactly as described. It had every thing our family (and dog) needed for a fun long weekend. We definitely recommend and would return for another visit.
Nice rental home ... Look forward to going back and staying in one of the owners properties ....

About the host
Hosted by Cathy Bokman
My husband and I, first started enjoying Colonial Beach as a weekend get-away from Chevy Chase, when we fell in love with Colonial Beach on our first visit in 2005. We now spend the summers in Colonial Beach and have made Florida our home. Since graduating from George Mason University; I entered the hospitality business. Being a cottage owner is something I love. It enables me to improve and beautify properties and provide a nice place for people to enjoy their vacations.
Why they chose this property
In 2009 we bought our first vacation rental, Beachcomber I. That house was a partnership with my sister and my husband's brother; it was a total renovation. I found though that people really enjoyed themselves and discovering Colonial Beach and the area. A year later, a childhood friend that I grew up with in Wellesley, Massachusetts called when she found this listing on the internet. This house, which became Beachcomber II didn't need nearly the amount of work as our first project and had the same great location; steps from town and beach...so we jumped in and started the work....hope you enjoy!
What makes this property unique
Beachcomber II has a great location, or as guests tell me...it is a gem. I know they enjoy the location steps to town, beaches and a playground just through the back gate. Also it is mostly on one floor, except the kid's loft.
For active duty military stationed at Dahlgren, we honor per diem for stays over 60 days, year-round.
