The property was beautiful, very clean, and exactly what we had hoped for. We enjoyed our time very much and Arlene was an excellent host that provided detailed instruction to ensure a smooth check-in/out experience. We very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely return in the future.
This property was very clean, quiet, and a short walk (also a ridiculously short drive, lol, but we had some "weather") to the spa. Situated about halfway up the hill from the beach, it also offers a lake view. The kitchen is very well equipped, which is important to us. The suite is very bright in the early morning; there are fairly sheer, white blinds. Additional window coverings to reduce sunlight would be lovely.
Arlene was a great host! Her cottage was very cozy and clean; had everything we needed! Would definitely recommend her place to anyone looking for a great spot to stay at Manitou Beach!!
Everything about the stay was terrific. Very comfortable accommodations and quick response times to any questions about the home. Would definitely do this again.
The cabin was very clean and suitable for my husband and myself. The bed was very comfortable . Even though it could sleep 8, I think it would be quite cramped in the kitchen area and only one small bathroom. The kitchen and cleaning supplies were well stocked.
This cottage had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay and our host was very accommodating. Would recommend staying here!

Luxury is a far stretch when it comes to describing what this property actually is. Yes, the building is modern, but luxury it is not. When we first arrived, there was a strong, garbage-like, rotting smell throughout the property. We opened all the windows and kept them open for the duration of our stay. On the first night, when I went to take a shower, there was no hot water. I notified the host, who arranged for a plumber to come the following day. The plumber was unable to repair it because they didn’t have the necessary part, so I went two full days without hot water. The towels were another issue. They were gray and had a sour, laundry-like smell, presumably because they can no longer be properly bleached. I ended up washing them myself before using them. The fireplace shown in the photos is also not functional, which was disappointing.Despite the lack of hot water for two days, the host offered no compensation or adjustment to the 300-per-night rate. What was particularly frustrating, however, was receiving a message the day after we returned home requesting 200 to replace a set of sheets because my 14-year-old daughter had gotten her period and apparently some blood got on them. Accidents happen, and given the issues we experienced during our stay, I found the request especially unreasonable. For 300 a night, I would expect a significantly higher standard. Honestly, I would rather spend 160 on a room at the spa and put the remaining 140 toward food and othe

Response from VrboOwner on 15 Aug 2026
For the benefit of future guests, we feel it's important to share the full context of this review.
This review was posted the day after — and directly in response to — our filing a legitimate claim for damage the guest caused to the property during her stay. That damage involved staining to the bed linens and mattress protector that could not be removed despite professional cleaning and required full replacement — damage the guest has acknowledged occurred during her stay. This list of complaints appeared only after we requested payment for that damage. At no point during the guest's four-night stay was any such dissatisfaction expressed to us.
The concerns that were raised during the stay were resolved promptly and directly. When the water heater was reported, our team responded the same day, confirmed the water was warm and usable, and a licensed plumber completed the repair — at no point was the guest without usable hot water. The fireplace was also discussed at the time: it is accurately listed as an electric indoor fireplace, it is fully functional, and we personally walked the guest through how to operate it using the controls on the unit.
The remaining complaints — the smell and the towels — were never once raised with us during the stay, when we would have addressed them immediately. Cleanliness is something we take extremely seriously and consider central to every guest's experience. Our property is professionally cleaned before every single stay, and all linens and towels are freshly laundered between guests without exception. We maintain rigorous housekeeping standards precisely so that our guests arrive to a spotless, welcoming space, and the description in this review is not consistent with the condition in which our property is prepared and presented. Had any of these concerns been mentioned during the stay, we would have acted on them the same day, as we did with every issue the guest actually brought to our attention.
We stand firmly behind our property and our service. We believe the timing of this review speaks for itself, and we welcome future guests to experience the property for exactly what it is.
Really close to everything, super cute cabin. The video camera was a bit awkward but I do understand. Thanks so much

Excellent access to the Manitou Spa
The location of this rental is ideal for it is a short walk to the Manitou Spa. Cozy rental with beautiful views of the lake. There is only one tiny closet at the front door. Nice deck. Good parking out front.
Very happy with our stay here. Quick and friendly response for any questions. Nice modern, yet cozy space. Kids enjoyed the park and swings nearby. Great kitchen set up.
This rental was ideal for us and our three kids (ages 9, 12 and 15.) Very clean and comfortable, a well-stocked kitchen which made eating "at home" an easy option. We were so glad we rented the kayaks, as that was one of our favorite activities while at the beach. Would return.
Check in and communication was great. Space was clean and as advertised. The loft bedroom upstairs is very open and quite bright so not recommended for sharing where privacy and quiet/ light is an issue, but was a great stay. Great patio and BBQ for patio suppers.
Only real problem was a door key that needs to be turned the opposite direction from what is instinctive. A heads up about that is all that would be required. Otherwise our stay was very enjoyable. Very clean and comfortable.
What a beautiful cottage!! We had a short stay but the cottage was modern, comfy and had everything needed and more! There was nice views of the lake from the upstairs loft and the upper deck. It was close to the water and walking distance to literally everything and anything at Manitou! My only regret was we were not able to use the kayaks but this was due to the uncooperative weather! A nice place to stay and explore what Manitou has to offer. 😎

Beautiful home- clean and lots of sleeping spaces. We were not pleased at the lack of bedding-seemed they were not prepared for winter guests. Beds only had thin couch blankets and sheets. Requested more blankets and they came promptly with similar bedding. Parking spots could have been cleared wider of the snow. No coffee in the cupboard and had only one really wrecked frying pan with no non stick coating.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're so glad you enjoyed the location and found the place comfortable. We truly appreciate your recommendation and would love to host you again in the future!
