Wedgetaildown Accommodation is located within the privately owned Kangaroo Island Wildlife Sanctuary situated on the Eleanor River. It is a place where the earth itself forms part of the rammed earth walls and where repurposed materials within the architecturally designed structure exude character and commitment to the landscape. Wedgetaildown is a place were you can forget the humdrum of your busy life, it is a place where you could believe that you are the only people left on earth.

Unforgettable Experience

From the moment we turned town the driveway to Wedgetail Down we felt like we were in a movie set. The property is stunning and Betty and Peter thought of every detail and little touch to make us feel welcome. Everything you need to cook and bbq is there, the bed is so comfortable, the rain shower so nice after a long day of hiking. The house is fascinating and absolutely gorgeous. Wandering the grounds and being greeted by wildlife everywhere we turned was truly breathtaking. The sunset and moonrise from the grounds are unbelievable. Don’t hesitate just book! We will never forget our experience here.

Liebevoll eingerichtete Hütte mit moderner Ausstattung und allem, was man braucht inklusive selbst gebackenem Brot. Wundervoller Ort off the Grid und zentral zu allen Highlights mitten auf Kangaroo Island. Morgens und abends jede Menge Wildlife mit vielen Kängurus, Schnabeligel und Co. Sehr herzliche Gastgeber, wir wären gerne noch länger geblieben.

Would highly recommend you stay here. Wonderful new property with lovely views. Situated in the middle of the island which is perfect for touring around. Very generous breakfast provisions were provided. kangaroos visit each day at any time.

Amazing off the grid built peaceful place surrounded by nature

What an amazing place to stay and rewind. It’s built to be self efficient with minimal green imprint. It was spotless clean and set up with all we needed. Little touches left from owners like beautiful messages, breakfast, wine, wood, and so many made our stay so special!!! Very peaceful place with wildlife by our door steps every night and morning : kangaroos, wallabies and birds . Location is central and easy to get everywhere. Loved it. Would highly recommended it!!!

Relax in nature

Fabulous stay with awesome hosts. Peter and Betty are so welcoming and happy to share their property which is beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. The Kanagaroos on the property are happy and content. Thank you for our stay - we thoroughly enjoyed it.
