Trade-Offs to Know: It's a studio — efficient layout, but not a separate-bedroom setup. Best for couples or two adults plus kids. No air conditioning (rarely needed at 9,375 ft; a fan is provided in summer).
Guest Access:
Check-In: 4:00 PM. Self check-in via digital keypad. Your unit code and 1st-floor East-building directions are sent through the Guesty guidebook approximately 24 hours before arrival. No physical key pickup. Late arrivals accepted with advance notice.
Check-Out: 11:00 AM. Light tidying expected (dishes in dishwasher, towels in the tub). Mid-stay turnover service available on request with 24-hour notice (additional fee, not included).
Your Space: Entire studio is private and reserved for your party.
Parking: One assigned spot per unit in the Grand Lodge lot. EV charging available in the lot. Walk approximately 60 seconds from car to East-building entrance.
Ski & Bike Storage: Complimentary access at Butte & Co (partner building, 60 seconds from the unit). Winter hours typically 7:00 AM–6:00 PM; extended summer hours.
Shared Amenities (Open Daily): Heated indoor/outdoor pool, year-round outdoor hot tub, fitness center, steam room, fireplace lobby. Complimentary town shuttle stops at the Grand Lodge main entrance — schedule available in the lobby and pre-arrival guidebook.
Pets: Maximum 2 pets, $50 pet fee per stay.
Quiet Hours: 10:00 PM–8:00 AM.
The Neighborhood:
Grand Lodge Crested Butte sits at the base of Mount Crested Butte resort village, immediately adjacent to the Red Lady Express lift base area. The surrounding base village includes ski shops, ski rental, casual restaurants, an après-ski bar, and the Adventure Park (summer chairlift rides, mountain biking park, hiking trail access). Historic downtown Crested Butte — Victorian storefronts, art galleries, fine dining, craft breweries, live music venues, and seasonal farmers' markets — is 3 miles north (6–8 minutes by car or free shuttle).
- Fall (September–October): Aspen peak color (typically late September), ideal hiking weather, low crowds.
Air Access:
- Gunnison Valley Regional Airport (GUC): 30 miles south, ~45 min drive. Regional flights to Denver and seasonal hubs.
- Denver International Airport (DEN): 230 miles, ~4 hours via I-70 and US-285. Major hub with the broadest airfare options.
Elevation: 9,375 feet. Thin air, strong UV, cool nights even in summer. Sunscreen and hydration are essential; take day one at a relaxed pace if new to high altitude.
Pet-Friendly Town: Crested Butte (both Mount and historic downtown) is genuinely dog-friendly. Off-leash hiking trails, water bowls outside shops, and several restaurant patios welcoming dogs.
Getting Around:
Parking: One assigned spot in the Grand Lodge lot, included with your stay. The lot is approximately 60 seconds on foot from the East-building entrance. EV charging available in the lot.
Red Lady Express Lift: 5-minute walk. Walk through the Grand Lodge courtyard, follow base-area signage to the lift base lodge. Lift opens daily around 9:00 AM in winter; lift status posted in the lobby.
Complimentary Town Shuttle: Mt. Express service departs from the Grand Lodge main entrance and runs to historic downtown Crested Butte's Elk Avenue (6–8 minutes). Schedule posted in the lobby and provided in the pre-arrival digital guidebook. Evening service typically runs Friday through Sunday in winter (extended hours during peak season).
Walking: The Mount Crested Butte resort village (ski shops, restaurants, après-ski bar, ski rental) is pedestrian-friendly and entirely walkable from the property. Historic downtown Crested Butte (3 miles north) is not walking distance; use the shuttle or a vehicle.
Ski, Snowboard, and Bike Storage: Free overnight and day storage at Butte & Co, the partner building immediately adjacent to Grand Lodge (~60 seconds on foot). Winter hours typically 7:00 AM–6:00 PM; extended hours in summer. Retrieve equipment, walk to the Red Lady Express lift in approximately 5 minutes.
Rental Vehicle: Available at Gunnison Valley Regional Airport (30 miles, ~45-minute drive); typically 15–20% lower rental rates than Denver International Airport. Useful for scenic drives (Kebler Pass, Maroon Bells in summer, day trips to Aspen via Independence Pass in summer only), trailhead access for backcountry hiking and biking, and supply runs to grocery stores in town or in Gunnison.
» 45min drive ➔ Gunnison Valley Regional Airport (GUC)
» 230 miles, ~4hrs ➔ Denver International Airport (DEN)
» 1.5–2hrs (summer only via Independence Pass; closed Oct–May) ➔ Aspen
Winter Driving Notes: I-70 corridor and US-50 / US-135 to Gunnison can have snow and icy conditions. Tire chains may be required by Colorado law during heavy snow events. Drive slowly, allow extra time, and check road reports before departing.

We're thrilled to hear that you and your furry friend enjoyed your stay at our dog-friendly condo in Mt. Crested Butte! It's wonderful that you found the location convenient for accessing the slopes with just a short walk. We hope to welcome you back for another fantastic stay soon!
We stayed here for two short nights in fall 2024. It’s a simple but well-laid-out studio with lots of space to spread out for two people. We would definitely stay again, especially since it is pet-friendly!

Hi Cat,
Your kind words made our day! We can’t wait to have you stay with us again.
Great property, absolute perfect location (both on the mountain and room location within the hotel), hotel staff was great, bike lockers were convenient, pool/hot tub were a little dated but worked perfectly.

We're pleased to hear that you found our condo well-equipped and enjoyed its convenient location. Thank you for your positive feedback, and we hope to host you again in the future.
Room was pretty clean given that pets can stay there. Did hear other dogs barking, but they seem to quiet down during the night. Would have been nice to have a hot shower. We only had slightly warm, but mostly cold showers.

Liked: Cleanliness, communication
Mediocre hotel room with cooking facilities in the Grand Lodge. The pool and hot tub are nice but otherwise there are few amenities in the building. It’s a convenient location but not at all scenic. For the money and from the description, I expected a lot more.

Hi Hilary,
Thanks for the feedback—sorry to hear it didn’t fully meet your expectations. We do our best to describe the space clearly, but I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and we’ll keep them in mind moving forward.
Traveled with my partner and pup. Grateful to be able to stay at a place with our dog! The hallway to the condo did look like a hall where dogs were allowed, as a pet owner that’s always the catch-22 when staying pet-friendly places. The room itself was clean. No extra frills and a great place to crash while visiting Mt Crested Butte. Having access to the free shuttle that went into town was so incredible

Condo was clean. However super small. Lamp light and spot lights in the hideaway bed were unplugged. The fire alarm was unplugged. First floor lower than sidewalk. Condo feels like a garden apartment.

Hi Martina,
Thank you for your feedback. We're glad to hear that you found the
condo clean. The listing states that " The Grand Lodge is a 3 star
hotel. If you are expecting all the bells and whistles that come
along with a 5 star hotel, you will be disappointed if you book here." We will take note of your comments and work to improve our services in the future. We hope you enjoyed the amazing location.
This is described as a condo making me believe there were private sleeping areas but it’s really just one giant hotel room. No way to separate. If one person wants a nap and the other is reading it watching the news it’s all one room. They do have a nice kitchenette but overall for me this is only a three star property. And no where to put ski gear.
